To set the context of my review, I was heading home after participating in the XtraKredit Feed The IE project in which was actually a short drive away from RNC. I took the opportunity to visit my grandpa, to pay my respects, and to share the real and great things I have done in the month of November. I was glad to find that the RNC was open on Thanksgiving Day and it was easy to get in and easy to get out. I hope to honor my grandpa the more and more I tell stories here on Google and everywhere else that I post reviews and stories. Thank you to everyone who served, and thank you to everyone who has family and friends that served and took the opportunity on the Day of Thanksgiving to honor, to respect, and to love their buried loved ones at RNC.

Its a shame that they have a security guard, Lou Stefano, that call people the B word and live-streaming on you-tube while on holly ground. I have tried to reach out to them but they do not care enough to answer. That guard went on to call me a Fa**ot. Not knowing who I am and the guard stated his boss doesnt care. Horrible anyway. God bless you ad yours.

The cemetery is nice, but staff needs to learn how to talk to people. Just lost a loved one, and instead of answering my questions, I was cut off and made to feel worse than I did before I called. Be compassionate and listen to what the person is saying before giving an answer that doesn’t tell them what they need to know.

Extremely disrespectful to not only my deceased Uncle but to the family and friends that showed up to see him buried. The lady rushed us, yelled at us, and started the burying process before everyone was able to get to the plot. The lady only gave us 2 minutes to grieve because we were supposedly “not on the schedule”. We were not able to take pictures because she was standing in front of the plot instead of moving aside and were told to be quiet and get out of the way for another family.

Wanting more information on internment. For my father, mother, and brother( when he passes) will all be together in their urns and in a family vault. I called regarding questions of eligibility on the phone. The fellow I spoke with made light of the subject. Even commented I should find a military man! Insulted to say the least! At age 64 my last wishes are cremation and to be with my parents/Family! Although not in the military--. I did serve Americas people as a nurse 20 years! I wish I had known required eligibility in 2009!! It seems they change requirements often. Now I am waiting for information of expenses . To relocate Urns somy family can be together. Very disappointed of this inconvenience and unprofessional behavior.

My husband and I met with his childhood friend and his wife at Riverside National Cemetery to both pay respects to our friends mother, the last of our parents to join the other three, and to memorialize the two WWII couples who were best friends for 75 years and are now completely together for eternity. The Cemetery Staff was not only professional with our requests but also respectful in suggesting how we might want to proceed with our memorial. The experience was just perfect, and our parents would be proud. Our own experience, and that of our friends, was enhanced by staying at the Ayers Hotel (4 minutes away) and sharing a great meal nearby at Applebees. We were able to visit and remember wonderful stories of the folks.

It really is a beautiful final resting place for men and women (their spouses too) who served our country. I was informed by their staff that they have up to 40 services a day. For those who are wondering, that is why it takes 3-4 weeks to get a burial date. Also, the reason why you have 30 minutes max under the pergola for your service. Its best to arrive at the staging area 30 minutes prior. restrooms are clean. No pets are allowed.

I find it rather fitting that my father was interred here. My father was in the Navy, the Army, and in the National Guard. He served overseas in the Navy, and when his time was up he served at home as a National Guard. My father loved being in the armed services. He loved what he did. He loved what he saw. He loved what adventures came his way. And because of that, though, my father was always away. As a child, I will always remember those time when he was gone. Those voids were long and sad. But more importantly, I will always remember the times when he came back, those were the happiest times in my life because he would always tell me stories of what he did, what he saw, and where he went. His stories are what I miss the most, because my father was a quiet man by nature and I rarely heard his voice.Joy and happiness are really the last things you associate with cemetaries and coming here was hard at first, but that old adage is true: time does indeed heal all wounds. Although I wouldnt say Im happy coming here now, I find the Riverside National Cemetery quite serene and peaceful. This place is actually beautiful. It is wide and open. The grass is lush and green. The trees stand tall and proud. And if you close your eyes, all you hear is the occasional breeze and the solemn sounds of silence, perfect for reflection and remembering those who had passed. In life my father was a hard working man, and now in death he can rest peacefully in this beautiful place.

This is a beautiful cemetery I have a lot of family buried here. When we came on Friday the 15th to celebrate my grandmas life. We were rushed and yelled at . Hurry lets go, now you only get 20 min. They started before we could all sit down. The lady was very rude. No consideration for my 92 year old grandmas funeral. We were told lets go I have another funeral waiting. The whole service was less than 20 min. We didnt even get to take a picture of the urn. She just picked it up and said you have to move to your cars. Being a wife of a solder is not easy and she deserved a better funeral then what was given. I hope that you read these reviews and talk to the employees who are running the services. We are all very unhappy and sad that it turned out this way..

Very Beautiful and Very Professional Staff here. Laid to rest a Favorite Uncle here yesterday 8-11-14 and the services were not only heartfelt given by the Pastor but the Navy people were very nice and sensitive to our loss. The music of TAPS being played while overlooking the lake and trees that surrounded us gave all of us peace and comfort. Even a cool breeze flowed around us while the music played.. Our Uncle would have been very proud that his nephew took the time to have his body brought here from San Francisco to be his final resting place closer to family.

My father, a career Marine is resting in the National Cemetery. My mothers ashes lay on top of his casket. My brothers and I are so thankful & grateful to the National Cemetery that our parents were laid to rest in that manner, placed as my mother wanted. My parents have a beautiful view of green fields and a rolling hill. The National Cemetery is immaculate, the atmosphere is laden with respect and the breeze, pond and birds bring life to the Cemetery.Every time I visit the National Cemetery grounds, I walk the stretch of asphalt path leading to the grand circular art of stone; the stone has the symbols & mottos (written in Latin) of American Military branches intricately inlaid into the stone. When the flags are displayed around the grand circle, I am prone to stop and just stare at the majestic sight and reflect upon how thankful I am that others sacrificed their personal wants so that I could live, freely.Thank you National Cemetery employees for taking care of your clients & taking pride in your work; my giving parents sacrificed much of their lives, therefore they deserve the best and I thank you so much for making sure they receive it.

Let me preface this by saying it is a very beautiful place, on the outside. On the inside, however, youll find that the staff you may interact with are terribly rude. I am a delivery guy, I deliver flowers. Sometimes I deliver them to services, today was one of those days. I had two services to go to within 15 minuets of each other so naturally I went to the one that was supposed to be done first, the one at Riverside National. When i finally found the group for my delivery they were still talking to the employee who was guiding them so I unloaded my stand of flowers and walked over then patiently waited for them to be done. After they had finished up the employee walks over to me and before I can ask him if I was in the right place or if anyone would take these flowers, the man says Get back in your car. just like that. After a slight pause he says that they dont know where the service will take place so i will have to wait and that if I didnt wait i wouldnt be delivering them, all this while the family just watched me no one taking the flowers no one lifted a finger. So I load up the car again and wait. And I wait. Finally they figure out where they are going and I follow them. Eventually we get to a small road that leads to what I thought would be a small parking area so I kept on trucking, boy was I wrong. Suddenly this caravan stops on this road and everyone gets out and parks. So Im stuck with having to reverse out after the kind gentleman in front of me, who could see my visible anger and frustration, finally took the flowers off my hands. After I reverse out (a 1/4 mile reverse out) I start my way back out, and get lost. Thats when I notice security following me. I thought to myself, hey maybe theyll help me out so I pull over and roll the window down and ask the lady if she could tell me how to get out and instead of answering my question she says something along the lines of just pulled out of there and you drove on the grass didnt you. So clearly the man from before called the security to come and harass me because he thought so little of me that he assumed I would drive over graves to get out of there. After telling her no i reversed out cause Im not a prick she told me how to leave and I got out. I missed the other funeral by an hour and a half.I will make sure no one i know comes to be laid to rest here.
