Definitely a park with potential, however, it is need of some TLC. This review is for both Silver Lake Park and Silver Lake Skate Park. The park has 2 play areas, skate park, minor water/splash pad, horse shoe area, and covered tables. The parking lot is adjacent to Silver Lake Elementary on Red Baron. There is also a dirt trail access near to the skate park going out to a large dirt shoulder on Moya Blvd. One play area is newer with the standard equipment and swings. An area of rubber bits surrounds the structure with mulch further out. Based on the shape and size of the play area (rubber and mulch), it looks like there was more equipment originally installed but the size was reduced when the structure was replaced. The older play area has more interest, in my opinion. But the equipment is old. The ropes encasing the cables on the spider web are worn and frayed, exposing the inner cables. Parts are missing from the equipment. It looks to be designed for smaller kiddos but the swings are set too high and is missing the tot swings. It has an awesome concrete tunnel that goes through a mound set with stones; great climbing feature. But, it is need of ground material; the weed barrier is visible in several areas. One thing I like about this area is that it is fenced with approx a 12 foot opening; great for limiting child egress to one easily identifiable point. The skate park is right off the newer structure; easy to keep an eye on kids in both areas. Again, this area is worn. There are indications of features that have been removed. Good for beginners though. The splash pad has 2 or 3 features. The sign says it runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The horse shoe has a handful of weeds but is not falling apart. There are nice paths. They circuit the park entire and the different areas. There are eight picnic tables under the pavilion showing signs of abuse from weather and human. One table looks like it had a fire lit on it. There are a couple stone tables and several benches scattered throughout.

Would get more stars if there werent always older teens/young adults there smoking and drinking, treating as if it wasnt a place for kids. Good equipment though. Lots of space. Skate park. Clean-ish with a seasonal restroom. Should get more stars.

This park needs a lot of work. The sidewalks have grass growing up through the cement path ways. Wanted to go roller skating but it would be too dangerous on these sidewalks. It would be a nice park if the city would maintain it.

The view in this park is amazing, you can see the dry lake (witch it is full with water) and the community of Silver Lake. It is peaceful and cool, is a great park out side the City. Is unfortunate that people leave trash behind and teenagers mark it with graffiti and trash.
