A unique place close to Redmond, OR. There are 5-6 caves. We did 2 of those. The caves have some sunlight at the entrance but gets pitch dark once you go deep inside. Must have flashlights and travel in groups. Need to bend the body quite a bit as you go inside but worth the experience. Very limited parking at the entrance.

Very awesome caves to see! I took my 3 and 5 year old and they loved it ! 2 caves are very close to the parking lot, no hiking what so ever. I did not go to the other 3 caves since I had my littles. I would recommend you bring a nice flash light if you want to go deep inside the caves since it gets very dark and little chilli inside. Keep you little ones close for there are rocks everywhere and can easily be tripped on.

Easy to get to and a short walk. Bring a flashlight if you want to go into the caves. Watch your dog in the summer time there could be snakes.

It was completely dark without a source of light. A few kids were able to connect from cave 4 to cave 3 and 1

Please becareful! There was so many loose rocks that were about to fall but other then that its great place to bring your kids. But sadly I feel like a lot of homeless people sleep in there it smell like urine in there

The Redmond Caves are open to the public and are quick, but fun caves to explore. There are 5 caves in the set or various lengths and heights. Most are pretty low, so be prepared to crawl in a few places. A couple are long enough that you need lights to see, so bring a lantern or flashlight.

Very cool and fun to check out. Its not huge or overwhelming. Can be done within an hour. Fairly easy to do if you can lift your legs over a few rocks.

Great place for beginners to try cave exploring! Just be aware that cave 3 and cave 1 have a lot of graffiti sexual in nature with a lot of profanity. Cave 2 and cave 5 are very small. Our favorite was Cave 4 and is the most child friendly, Just make sure to bring a helmet!

Rustic cave group (one cave connects to another (3 and 4 I think) that you can casually peruse with kids and pups. A bit of graffiti but a relaxed and rustic experience. Parking for about 10 cars.

Oh my gosh! I had the greatest time! Although I am a person who can get down and dirty. Wouldnt recommend for cleaner people. You can go into the caves. It says there are bats, but I woundnt worry about it too much just dont bother them. Would recommend going with friends, and or, family. WATCH OUT FOR GLASS!!! There is graffiti on the walls which doesnt make it a real cave. BRING FLASHLIGHTS WITH YOU. Not the little ones or your phone. Bring big reliable flashlights.

Cool caves. Not long. Not too low. Good for casual caving. Little to no parking.

Review №16

Pretty neat place to explore and visit. Theres really no parking lot so when you get to the boulders and the gate that is literally the entrance. I was skeptical at first. The first cave is not too far down from the posted sign. If youre wanting to just check out the first two they are relatively close. I recommend bringing your cell phone for a flashlight or bringing a flashlight / headlamp if youd like to go spelunking.

Really neat stop if you are in the area. Bring flash lights and shoes you dont mind getting dirty. Take a pic of the map at the gate. The 5 entries are very easy to find. The 5th isnt worth the trouble but the others are cool.

Out of the dozens of times Ive been to Redmond, I never knew this place existed. Its a secret that very few people know about. A jem for sure. And finding out that the native Americans used this place for a few thousand years. The scenery around this place is absolutely beautiful! Its maintained very well. One thing to remember. Its REALLY REALLY DARK INSIDE. I thought that Id use my super bright cell phone flashlight function like Id do in a dark room or building which works great, but inside the cave, its a whole new experience. Its so dark in there, that the darkness swallows all of the light. It did absolutely nothing. So, on our next visit we are gonna bring some way better flashlights to be able to see. I went in about 100 feet, could not go any further since that cell phone light did absolutely nothing when I met someone coming from further inside and I asked how much further it goes and he said another 300 feet of so and was told that it branches off into a couple directions, so we are super excited to see where they lead too. I definitely say that this is an amazing place to explore and isnt well known so its not crawling with tons of people. On a weekend afternoon, we only saw about 6 people. Come check this place out. You wont be disappointed

A nice untainted group of caves (there are 5). Complete with archeological facts that they found at the site. Some of these caves are a belly crawl sort so be prepared to get sandy and dirty.Note: white noise syndrome is killing millions of bats. Please read up on it at the us forestry site before going into any caves.

A great experience to the life of central Oregon! A must visit. Its family friendly. I had a headlamp but another group just used their cell phone lights. I liked that I still had my hands to use. You can be as adventurous as you want or not. At one point, I was crawling but you can stop well before that point. It was a bit chilly, so Id recommend a jacket but I really enjoyed myself!!

An enjoyable but small system of lava tubes. 5 caves, free parking, no restrooms. Only one cave goes all the way through. The rest end quite abruptly. Expect to crawl on your belly over a sandy floor if you want to reach the end of some of them. Obviously a party spot for kids over the years as there is some graffiti, cigarette butts and broken glass... but not enough to ruin the experience. Probably 1-2 hours if youre willing to get down and dirty caving. Maybe 30 mins if not.

If you have small kids this is a perfect place to take them to see caves, if you dont it is still fun. Perfect place to kill a half hour, its about a 1/2 mile round trip. Better then expected.

Ka
Review №69

They were great fun, but you can tell kids or homeless had been there. Broken glass everywhere was very disheartening, due to my child, 4, not being able to step in a lot of places. Also found cigarettes, lost/tossed clothes, abandoned bike and people had broken some stalagmites. Wish people were taking better care of these natural beauties. But a great short little hike around.

La
Review №70

I would say dont go out of your way to come. Its interesting to see the array of caves and experience the environmental difference inside and out of them, but if youve ever been in a cave before you can totally skip it. I dont think theres any kind of Trailhead or extra hike other than just the six cave entrances but it was pretty small and not extremely interesting. If youre on your way past it might be worth a look. Definitely used by local youth 4 hanging out and having campfires while spray painting LOL!
