They had story walk that we read as we followed path. At 1:00 Saturday there was only one other family there, way ahead of us. So social distancing great. At the end we petted the goats. Our 3 year old loves goats so he was in heaven. Thank you so much for this story walk. It has been a challenge to keep him entertained for the last 6 months.

There’s so much to explore here, even on a cloudy, winter day! There are indoor exhibits in several well-kept historic buildings and barns. The Farm History Center (like a welcome center) includes an adorable, well-stocked play area for little ones. My toddler loved it! The grounds are pleasant and easy to walk. There are some cute, friendly goats that enjoy carrots (bring your own). I was very impressed by this park and everything it has to offer!

Just completed an absolutely lovely Christmas tour of the homestead and park. It was a completely charming hour spent. The 27 acre site is wonderfully preserved and well maintained. Donna was both an affable and informed tour guide who guided us through the various owners and history beginning with the antebellum period thru the Civil War and then on to the Victorian era followed by the Depression period up through WWII and then onto modern times. She did an amazing job and is an asset to the park. I learned so much and a fun time was had by all. I look forward to returning in Spring when the flowers are in bloom. A total jewel of a park for Wake County residents and its visitors.

This place is pretty cool! I thought my kiddos would be bored since theyre young, 3 years and 1 year, but it was the opposite. They loved running through the beautiful grounds, seeing the chickens and goats but especially the inside exhibit with play kitchen/market and dress up costumes. Well definitely be back!

This is such a beautiful park! The staff seems great and it is always clean. If you go at the right time you might even get a free treat from their garden! The trails are a great length for a causal, spur of the moment walk! My favorite part of this park are the animals, including my favorite goat, Walt! The historic buildings are beautiful and well kept and very educational. Its a great place for a field trip or just to eat lunch! Id go ever day if I were able. 10/10 recommend.

We took our 3 children, along with our dog to this fabulous park on a beautiful Saturday. We practically had the park to ourselves, definitely wasnt their busy season! All three of our kids loved the history and the goats were a huge hit! The walking trail was fun and there was a nice picnic area to enjoy our lunch. We definitely give this park 5 stars and plan to bring visitors to check this out. Enjoy!

I did not know this place existed until I went to an event posted on Facebook barnyard bash. It was a lot of fun. The people who work/volunteer here are very friendly and informative if you ask questions. In one building there is a play kitchen/store and they have a puppet area great for kids just walking up to 5/6yo. There is also a barn so kids can learn more about farming. And dont forget about the goats you can rub and feed! There was a lot more here that we did not get to experience so we can not wait to go back.

The grounds are well maintained and laid out with a plenty of history and nature around every corner. The buildings are well maintained and there are lots of well labeled antiques to view. The goats will delight visitors of all ages. There are a couple of shelters and fishing is allowed on the ponds.

Great park to visit with family, school groups, etc. We have also had family pictures taken here. Beautiful park with lots to see. The kids love seeing the goats and chickens, but they also enjoyed learning about how cotton goes from the field to our homes and how that process changed over time. When I taught elementary students, i brought my classes on field trips almost every year to learn about cotton, holiday traditions and farm history in NC. Love this park! (And there arent any playgrounds at this park in case youre wondering, but large fields for the kiddos to run around in!)

Heritage Day is better than the State Fair (especially for special needs) and its free! Pony & Carriage Rides, crafts, games, face painting, blacksmiths, petting Llamas, goats, sheep, bunnies. Learn how to cane pole fish, collect eggs, milk cows, pick cotton, dress up and pretend farmers market and kitchen. (Like a miniature Marbles). They have a great Christmas event as well!

It Is a really nice place, but since there was a field trip, we couldnt use the play area. I wish they would allow the play area to open during field trips, since the area is for young kids, not the kids on the field trip. Besides that, really pretty to walk around in.

Such a beautiful gem of our city! I just found out about it and cant believe I didnt know of it sooner. My toddler and I had a great time at the indoor play area (pretend kitchen, farm and supermarket toys) before exploring the outdoor grounds. I had read to bring treats for the goats to feed them, so I brought a bunch of carrots with us (an employee also suggested apples). There were about 6 goats we could feed, and my son loved it. The goats are very friendly and enjoyed being petted. Theres also a barn with an old tractor and life-size animal sculptures, chickens, and plenty of room to run around. I appreciated all of the informational plaques and exhibits in the main building — such cool history that has been preserved so well here. We ended our visit by walking on the trails behind the shaded parking area. The staff we met were exceptionally friendly and we were some of the very few visitors on a late weekday summer afternoon. Im already planning our next visit here!

They have grape vines, a cotton field, a pecan tree grove, a vegetable and herb garden, a wash house/kitchen, a horse barn, a servants house, the main house, and a cotton preparing/holding barn. Fun place to visit and walk around, great place for photos, and they are VERY photographer friendly there, that is so nice. Beautiful white fences everywhere, and very well kept grounds all over. Would make a good place for you to rent out for an event as well. Definitely one of the hidden jewels of Raleigh, NC that most people dont even know about. I have personally been here for a worker-toured elementary school field trip, an antique car show, and to photograph people at least a dozen times. Great place.
