Nice state park. Camped at Arkansas Point Campground. The sites were spacious and spread out enough to have some privacy. The restrooms/free showers at Loop A were the only ones open during the winter. We camped at Loop B for the view of the lake and brought our our portable toilet. It can get windy at Lake Pueblo so ensure that you properly secure your awnings and canopies. We put 10 lbs weights on each leg of our canopy. No issues. The cool fall weather made it easy for the hike up the little hill to the south of the campground. Saw deer. Nice view too. Highly recommend this local state park.

Wonderful facilities all around. Went for a 2 night stay on August 14 and 15 and couldnt be happier. The swim beach was very nice and great for kids. Paddle boarding is only allowed on one side so the little ones can jump and splash freely. There were many tables and a large pavilion. At the campgrounds, the restrooms in the Yucca Flats campground are the nicest Ive seen in Colorado state parks. Staff was extremely friendly and scenery is beautiful. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite state parks! There is something for everyone here. If you have a boat you can bring it. If you’re into kayaking or paddle boarding you can rent them here for $20 (but make a reservation ahead of time - they sell out quick!). Dogs are allowed on all of the hiking trails around the park. I’ve come on many weekends and it hasn’t been super crowded; we usually don’t see anyone else on the hiking trails.

One of the best fisheries in the state. Both marinas have plenty of amenities to make the day fun, and are great in case you need something in a pinch. Once the virus is over, theres lots of gazebos and grilling areas located around the park. Beautiful place when its not overly busy.

Winter HikingWinter HikingI had the chance to check out Lake Pueblo earlier this year while passing through town. I had come in late the night before and had an early morning appointment with a customer in the area and then had the whole day to get to Brighton. I heard on the news that there was a break in the weather for a few hours and decided to get in a few hours of hiking before the storm set in.The area around the lake and the state park are great for photo ops. There are hills and pullovers on the side of the road, as well as trails in the area. I didnt have a whole lot of time so I decided to head straight into the park. My first stop was the Park Station to get some information on the park and to learn about its history. The reservoir was built back in the early part of the last century to provide water to the vast acres of farmland in the area. It was also known historically as home to many Indigenous cultures that lived in the area. After my trip to the Park station and armed with info on where to hike, off I went. I headed down to the lake and walked around for a bit. I spoke to some boaters who even though it was still winter, were getting their boats ready for the opening of the fishing season. Luckily the howling wind had died down from the night before and the lake was very calm. I walked around the lake for a while and then walked around the area watching the mountains in the distance and the snow-covered hills that made up the landscape. I was out there alone and felt very fortunate that the sun would pop its head out for a few minutes and every so often and give me a real sense of the serene beauty that the area has. This was a great hike and I took more time to observe than I did take pictures, it was just that kind of afternoon. For those of you who havent been there before, the lake has what most parks with lakes have in the US, like boating, swimming, camping and other facilities for showers and of course restrooms. I will make it a point to return once again in warmer weather and enjoy the lake for myself.

One of Pueblos greatest treasures. Please help keep it clean. The recent population increase in Colorado is taking a toll on all of our natural recreational and general open space. Best place we spend a lot of time. Its almost like our second home. Our dogs love it and start whining and barking from excitement when we pull onto the road. They know theyre in for some fun. We love exploring little coves and trails and future camp sites. Its such a great place to enjoy the day and get away from it all -- although youre only 10 minutes from town and shopping and gas. Love it

Love this park. Used to live in pueblo and fished the reservoir all the time. Super crowded in the summer. Camp sites are not super close to each other. Marinas are nicely built and usually dont back up too bad. Gotta watch watercraft traffic on the water during the summertime. No water hookups for each campsite. Arkansas river access is good for fishing and tubing.

We camped in the summer in a tent. It was hot! The water was nice, but a little muddy. We went wading at one of the turnoffs, and others were already enjoying their time. Lots of fishing line in the water and on shore where we were. We spent three minutes picking up our area of litter. Also, the mud under water had sticks and stones, so our toes had some surprises. The best wading locations were a walk to, so bring some wheels for rocky shores. We just pulled up our vehicle to the water. Everyone had a great time.

The restrooms were clean and always had enough TP. We stayed in the Juniper campsite and the view was awesome. My mom, who uses a walker, also came and was able to walk down to the lake with assistance. Only thing we didnt like was the beach. Its not open all week so my 6 year old didnt get to do the deep swimming. There are plenty of spots though to get in the lake and cool off.

Camping was easy to get in and out but they charge you for just entering the park as well as paying for the camp site. They have an annual pass if you want to visit State Parks often. For camping they have a water point, hard standing bathrooms, picnic table with cover and fire pits. Bring your own wood because gathering of wood there isn’t allowed and there aren’t many trees to hang your hammock. The parking can accommodate two cars on each came spot with additional parking a little walk down but you aren’t allowed to park off the paved roads.

We recently stayed and arrived at the Lake/park at 10:30am knowing that campers have until noon to vacate. We drove past our site which was occupied with a travel trailer and a boat. So we drove through the park again and at 10:45 the boat was gone. Camping equipment and tools scattered about the camp site. We stopped by the camp host to let them know of our arrival. She informed us that campers have until 12 noon for check out but they give them until 12:30 before calling to have trailers towed. Our check in 1pm. Ok we get it so we park by the campsite to wait and wait some more. Deciding to shower since the bathroom/shower available which was clean and nice was right by our parked rig. At 11:45 the young cutest couple show up. He receives a phone call and walks around talking for 15 minutes. The chick in bikini is in the RV by now it is well after 12noon. They begin to quickly pack up. At 12:30 they begin to pull out and failed to check everything - stabilizer in the back was down and jammed. Took him another 15-20 minutes to remove stabilizer. At 12:53 they finally pulled out of the spot. Certainly, used up their time. I will never stay at this place again. Not impressed.

Love the views, love the accessibility, and love the staff. We came up camping on a Wednesday and stayed till Saturday morning. If you like it quiet, then come up during the week, we were one of six or seven spots being used. Friday got a little wild due to the hoards of other people getting loud after ordinance. But the ranger came thru and shut that down quickly. Boat rentals are reasonable, just wish they didnt kick us out at 5:00 - but people want to get home and relax so I get it. We just didnt want the fun to stop! Children 13 and under must wear life preservers, and they always have 8-10 adult size preservers on the boat. Cant wait to come back!!

Great MTB trail system with a little something for just about everyone. You can do long loops, or bounce around the canyon, its entirely up to you and what you want to do. There are some free dirt parking lots off of Hwy 96 if youre not inclined to pay for parking. When other trails are still wet and soggy, this place stands a good chance of still having some dry and ridable trails.

I withdrew one star because they only had electricity at the site--no water or sewer. This might not be an issue for tent campers, since there were water taps strategically situated among the sites. Other than that, Lake Pueblo State Park may be my favorite campground so far. The hiking around our loop was limited to the one trail that follows the lake but, given the local geography, Im not sure what else one could ask for. The bike trails on the opposite--south--side of the lake looked interesting, but I didnt have a chance to try them. Theres also an odd but very nice sidewalk that rings a significant portion of the north side of the lake. I think the sidewalk turns into a dirt trail on the south side, but Im not sure.If you stay here, try hard to get a site as close to the lake as possible; theres no downside and sunsets will be gorgeous. Some lakeside sites have easy paths to the water and others are blocked from the water by small cliffs. The easy paths would be preferable but Im not sure how to tell which has which without a good topo map. There are two marinas at the lake. I didnt use them but they looked like they offered complete services.
