I learned to draw. I wish I had started earlier

The 5 to 6 year old class is too advanced, rigid, and rushed, making my five-and-a-half year old feel shame, confusion, fear, and cry in front of the other students. Zero empathy displayed from the teacher. I was there and witnessed all of this.I have never been so insulted by having insinuated to me that my child, who is a brilliant expressive young artist, is not worthy or competent enough to participate in this class. I was made to feel my child was no longer welcomed to attend and we quickly left in the middle of a class.

Both my children took the project based class for 7-10 year olds. They made a carousel out of wood and clay. What I really liked about the class was how structured it was and how much they learned about different art techniques. The children also learned about the history of the carousel. The class itself was structured, there were clear expectations and the teacher gave each child individual attention throughout. I was present for most of the classes and I felt that all the children were engaged and excited about their project. I would likely recommend the childrens art classes at the Eastside Art Center.

Great place, great teachers, made some great new friends. Nice to spend a few hours a week doing something very relaxing.

The East side art center is an established art institution in Providence with many years of service. I have attended Dons introductory art class 1 and 2 which formed the basis of all my art work later on. I was with Sally Caswell for 3 years doing portraiture. Sally is one of the best asset teachers that Ive encountered which comes from her own experience teaching at RISD and community colleges and from the fact that shes a very good artist. The price is reasonable and they have classes to meet everyones schedules.

A relaxed creative environment. Instructors are very friendly and supportive. Highly recommended

The East Side Art Center is a hidden treasure of Providence. Small classes and talented teachers give the Center a warm environment. I love my Thursday evening drawing class and credit Don Simon with showing me how to see my environment differently. I can draw!
