This is a great place for bike riders of all ages. They also have great family play areas and team building camps. The parking lot is big and there is room for everyone to play and have fun.The coaches are great and the skill level team are amazing. One drawback is its expensive for some of us. Its about 30 bucks for the full day so if your just wanting to swing in for a short session its not worth the effort.

I’ve been a member at the Lumberyard for about a year and a half. I’m primarily a mountain biker who decided to start going in the winter to ride some place dry and to work on skills. I don’t think I knew what doors riding at the lumberyard would open. The various tracks and jump lines have been thoughtfully built for skills progression. If you’re having trouble with a feature or line, usually it’s exposing an element of your technique that you can work on. The impact on my riding has been significant. At the core of the lumberyard are the staff. The coaching is excellent and the staff bring the stoke to work with them every day. Compared with the cost of mtb coaching, the coaching at the lumberyard is a steal (and at least as effective). The least crowded times are usually midday, and in the evenings after 7pm. If you go then, you’ll usually only be share the place with a handful of other riders. If you like riding bikes, you’ll probably have a blast at the lumberyard.

Id give higher stars because the place is cool and fun but one of the staff really is not friendly, as one of the other reviewers already mentioned, the lady with the long red hair was not friendly nor doing anything useful. One unfriendly staff member leaves such a bad taste in your mouth and ruins what could have been a fun experience and makes you never want to come back. It might explain why the place was mostly empty on a weekend. Everyone else was great. We left before our time was up because of this rude lady.

I took my grandson in the there on Saturday to ride his scooter. The scooters are only allowed in the basement, bikes can go anywhere in the building. When they come down to the basement they take it over and don’t watch out for the scooter kids, therefore they can’ Ride there scooters very well. I asked why the bikes are allowed everywhere and the scooters only allowed in basement. Was told it is a bike park and the scooters were an afterthought. I paid $28 for the day, same price as bike riders and can only ride and have a good time when the bikers aren’t down there. If the scooters can only ride part of the time they should get charged less.

I had a great first time at the Lumberyard! I decided to rent a bike instead of taking my mountain bike, and I’m glad I did. The dirt jumper I rented was really nice (Transition PBJ) and it was perfect for ripping around the park, way better than my full suspension MTB would have been. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and obviously want everyone to enjoy riding at their facility. I was able to hone some skills that will make me a better rider on the trails. Such a cool place to ride and hang out.

In all fairness I have not actually used the services this place provides. I believe it to be some kind of BMX/Parkour center. The reason for my poor review is more of a morality issue. A little less than five years ago, having just moved to Portland, I was out walking and exploring the area when my nose spontaneously began to profusely bleed. Im not prone to being equipped with a first aid kit for urban explanation so I saw the Lumberyard (Nearest business to me), walked inside and up to the service counter and asked for something rare, precious, and cost prohibitive: -A- paper towel. To their defense this was 2014, the year of the great global tree suicide pact, so it was only natural to be conservative with coveted resources like paper towels and providing them as a perk luxury for paying customers only would simply be common sense, but ONE? ONE paper towel to prevent my continued exsanguination? Apparently the demand was too outlandish because my request was met with an immediate NO!. I left in utter disbelief. Stumbling around the parking lot in a state of confusion as the flow of oxygen to my brain began to wane, I fortunately came upon a discarded railroad spike which I heated (With a torch borrowed from one of the meth dealers inhabiting the motel on the adjacent property) to luminescence and inserted into my nostril, effectively cauterizing the intranasal wound. Okay that part didnt actually happen, the nosebleed resolved on its own, BUT IT COULD HAVE! Regardless of how the flow of blood was stymied the fact remains: If someone, paying customer or not, comes into your establishment bleeding or injured in any capacity do the right damn thing and help a fellow human being out!

Here for a kids birthday party. First of all, some of the games in the game room don’t work right and when they eat your money the not-so-nice woman with the longer strawberry blonde hair won’t refund your money and treats you like your lying. Second, my son was tentative about riding and finally decided to do so. I rented him a bike for $20. They won’t adjust the seat or anything for him so he ended up being too uncomfortable (not used to ultra low seats) and decided not to ride. So, he never rode. I asked if they would transfer his all day rental bracelet to me since he didn’t use it, same lady said “no”. “We are not supposed to do that.” Even though he never used the rental. Small businesses that won’t bend the rules in unique situations don’t deserve my business. I was willing to give them more money to buy an hour of riding if she let me use the rental. Dumb decision. I’m a business owner and definitely wouldn’t want an employee like that.

Review №27

I would give them a 0 star rating if it were an option. I took my kids here to try it out for the first time. We traveled all the way from Eugene. We got there around 2 and decided we just try it out for an hour because it was supposed to be $15 an hour if they have their own helmet and scooter. I had a $50 bill on me, went to pay with that and was told that I had to pay the entire day rate for both kids up front which would be $56. I explained that I only had a $50 bill on me and could they please use that. We only plan on staying an hour. I was told no and without the other $6 my kids could not go out and play. Thank you for ruining our trip we will never be coming back and I will never suggest anybody coming here. It would be wise to have this on your price board above the counter with the others you have listed. We are part of Emerald Valley BMX down in Eugene we will be spreading the word about your bad customer service to all our BMX friends. After receiving the owners response I went back to the website just to double-check to see if I missed something about having to pay the full day rate for 1 hour if paying with cash and just like your signs above the counter at your facility there is nothing about paying a full day deposit for an hourly rate in cash.

Such a super-fun place. But its also a great place to expand your bike skills.Admittedly, it was a little intimidating the first time I visited with so many skilled riders in there. But everyone is chill so there is really no need to be anxious. Its great to watch riders of so many different skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. You will gradually notice subtle things they do that you are not doing. And then you can try to emulate them. Or just be stunned and unable to understand how such a thing is humanly possible. Or just ask them about it.Levi, one of the instructors there, is very interested in helping riders improve. I havent met the other instructors yet but Im sure they are great, too.Im seriously considering moving when my lease is up so that I can be closer to there. The bottom line is, if you are nervous about going there, thats fine. I get it. But just go to there. You wont regret it.Also, beer and pizza!

A bit pricey but worth it! Theres a full bar with microbrews, but wait until youre done biking... Some of the mountain bike trails are a little janky, as in they have weird and tight transitions/turns. The BMX sections work much better. The new(er) outside section offers some extra gnar. The service is great through and through. Keep in mind, the BMX bikes are in high demand so grab one and dont let go! Therell be a plethora of Cyclocross/mountain bikes for the taking.

I have visited the Lumberyard on quite a few occasions with my grandsons. They are ages 10, 4, and 3. The little ones know how to ride peddle bikes but it is easier for them to ride their stryders there. I have never had a bad experience there until today! The staff is friendly and Liam is especially nice. However, today has changed my opinion of Lumberyard forever and I will never go back.I had my three grandsons and another boy, aged 11. The two bigger boys usually ride on the blue side. The two little boys went to the green area and it was unusually busy today. The employee, Will, who I assume is the owner was directing traffic over on the green side. He kept letting the bigger (7-10 yr olds) kids ride the track while the little ones had to keep waiting. The older kids would run the track, COME BACK, then Will would let them run the track again. All the while the little ones were STILL WAITING!!!! After this happened several times, I went onto the track and asked him to be aware that they were still waiting. I explained we could only stay an hour this trip and I didnt want them to be sitting more than riding. He was very cordial and promised to keep a better eye out.I appreciated this response, and he did try to be more aware. Then after about 15 minutes, he once again defaulted to his previous behavior. As I watched my grandsons wait and wait once again...I became extremely disappointed in his attitude. He would let them ride every second time the bigger kids went.I felt like my little grandchildren did not get full value, since they did indeed SIT and WAIT more than ride.I understand all about sharing the track on a busy day as well as safety concerns. It doesnt negate the fact that I paid the same amount of money for less value received than others.I will not be taking them back there.
