Had a fantastic afternoon at Portland Art Museum. The Mount St. Helens show is very interesting and I feel like I learned quite a lot besides appreciating the great artworks that depict the amazing volcano. The modern and contemporary side of the museum is in a separate building with a funky floor plan. There are a few smaller exhibitions with diverse themes but all worth a visit.

Buildings were chopped into odd rooms and inconsistent teams. Some art was great and some was vulgar not suitable for children. $20.00 entrance fee was high for experience (in comparison) public museum. Bathrooms closed Covid19? But a serious problem for $20.00 fee.

Located in center of all in Portland is his wonderful Museum. It has never disappointed me and I almost visit it every time I go. The best way to describe it this time are to add a few photos that compel you to go yourself. Check before you go to see what discounts they are doing on any particular weekend. The weekend we went, a Bank of America card let you in free! They also have a beautiful Museum Store in addition to all the incredible art

Good museum. My husband doesn’t like museums too much but even he loved this one, because of many different type of art. It was absolutely not crowded (we visited on March 9, Saturday, in 2:30pm). A lot of interesting things what you can see there.

I had a lovely little wander around the museum. The Objects of Contact exhibits were stunning. It was a true joy to look at things older than I can comprehend. The exhibit on Mount St. Helens was also a treat as I had planned to visit the actual mountain but came to find that the road is closed seasonally – this was a nice surprise and made up for not seeing it in person. Deeply appreciate the coat check, I know its small but being able to drop off my bags and wander unhindered is a bonus. The cafe and shop were lovely stops as well!

Inside & out, an excellent art museum! The average time listed is 2 hrs but if you really want to see everything properly it could take an entire half day at least!Their collection includes works from various time periods and material by famous artists such as Monet & Andy Warhol. The museum is unique in that it is comprised of two buildings that you can access via an underground hallway! (Cool, but also inconvenient for leaving as you can only exist through the main building).Friendly & knowledgable staff. There is a small cafe by the gift-shop that offers sandwiches, coffee...etc

Definitely worth the price. I kinda rushed through the visit cos I was short on time but I recommend setting aside a good chunk of your day for this. The museum is simply huge! The contemporary art section is definitely the highlight of the museum for me. Also, I think they have specific sections of the museum dedicated to rotating cultures/categories, so keep that in mind. A very contemporary art museum. There wasn’t as much on display as I would have thought based on the admission price. Mostly dedicated to contemporary works, two whole floors. The Portland Art Museum has an impressive collection of regional Pacific Northwest artwork as well as Native American works. The special exhibit on display during our visit was titled “Paris 1900” and was focused on the World’s Fair and the tremendous amount of technology, resources, and artwork that went into its creation. The exhibit was cohesive and a visit to the museum is highly recommended. It’s on the smaller side, so one can easily make it through the entire museum in 3-4 hours.

An interesting building, good location ... but the best thing about this gallery is the exhibition that is currently on: All Things Being Equal by Hank William Thomas. This is the most remarkable exhibition Ive ever seen. Not only is it great art but it exposes our society as being deeply racist. You can see more detail of this on the texts that Im sharing here.Perhaps the most powerful message here is that advertising is based on attitudes that reinforce stereotypes and racism -- as well as sport. Whats particularly disturbing is how advertising, and the media, adapt so quickly to modern technology, and changing fashion -- they change with the time but always carry with them their underlying philosophy of segregation and white superiority.I left feeling that the ethnic minorities in the US havent really progressed much in the last 100 years,Hopefully this exhibition will go global as these issues are prevalent everywhere people live; our very economic system thrives off discriminating between peoples. The empires of old used to call it Divide and Rule.

Very good place to see Art. Able to see different styles (wont say which ones so you can go) but if you like art, and have an appreciation of the quality and the why, where, the artist will want to paint/draw that specific painting then you should go and appreciate it yourself. There are different levels/floors, also different country type drawings. For military is at no cost( at least thats what the counter lady said) but the price its its reasonable, we park on the street about a block away. Will add some pictures, any questions just ask.
