This is such a terrific place. The cafe is excellent, and such a low price. The gym is terrific with great views out of the floor to ceiling windows. There are so many and varied offerings of activities. It is clean and inviting. I love that a jigsaw puzzle is always out to be worked on by anyone.

The annual Veterans holiday luncheon was a blast. Hats off to the host and the Plano police escort was awesome. Thank you for your service.

Been here a few times since they remodeled. I dont know what the old place was like, but its really nice now. The workout room is pretty good. Its missing a couple machines I would like to see (bicep curl, triceps) as well as no free weights. Otherwise its solid, similar equipment to the other rec centers in town, minus the young people :-)The other meeting rooms look nicely done, I have been to any functions that use them, but a couple times they were packed with people, so its good to know theyre being used.

Amazing new place to enjoy classes and games like 42, poker and more. The fitness center will make your chin hit the floor. So much equipment to keep you strong and young. I volunteer in the kitchen on Fridays. Come by for lunch Monday thru Friday between 11 and 12:30 - you wont be disappointed. And check out the photography on the walls as you tour. Breathtaking! The wonderful staff and the atmosphere will keep you coming back. Come socialize, learn a new skill, make a puzzle, play pool, dance, lift some weights, be with friends and if youre there for lunch, let us know how were doing.

Smaller facility but everyone is very kind and very helpful. I really enjoy it here.

We were impressed! Beautiful new facility, with a HUGE workout room. Every machine you could ever want, free weights, lockers, and a lovely view. All this for $15 per YEAR for Plano residents. Good-bye gym membership...hello Sam Johnson Center. Lots of free and low cost classes, pool tables, free health resources, a cafe, and friendly staff. You cant beat this place if you are over 50! Check it out!

Nicely equipped gym with a good balance of cardio and weight machines, kept very clean, with nice bathrooms and very cordial reception folks.

Have really enjoyed going to the center. Everyone is so friendly . Never need to wait for machines. People are so respectful about not hogging certain machines.

Very modern and fresh looking. Wandered around and checked out the facility. Was a bit surprised that they now want a $15 annual fee even if you only go to the cafe for lunch. I guess if you want to work out that would be ok.... but just to go for lunch occasionally! Really!!!

Its been remodeled, everything new. Its been renamed as Sam Johnson Senior Center. Has a Ballard room has two pool tables, a sitting area for reading or watch large screen tv, a Gym with all new machines for weight training or jogging, a large auditorium for meeting or dancing, two meeting classrooms, outdoor areas for relaxing or get some sun on a beautiful day today & also a dining area overlooking the public plano park. It serves lunch 11am to 1230pm Monday to Friday. It has various activities daily. It generally opens 8a to 8p Monday to Friday, 8a to noon on Saturday. Its closed on Sunday.

Not easy to see or find the daily schedule. It should be posted somewhere. Nice place. Good food. Understaffed.

Plano Senior Center is a great place for seniors to play games and visit. But not really for dancing on the floor, is very hard on your feet and knees and back, and I saw 6 people get hurt in one year one had to have back surgery the others have had knee problems for years now. Your feet stick and your knee will turn or jam up and you fall. The lady in charge over there knows about it but doesnt really seem to care. She actually told me when I tore my Meniscus over there one life foot stuck on the floor and my knee turned that this worldly wasnt a floor for dancing on. The city doesnt seem to want to do anything to make things better for senior dancers. Dancing is really good exercise and its good for you mentally and emotionally as you age, actually at any age.

Michayla enjoys attending the dance club thats offered once a month for the Special Needs clients. The environment is welcoming for every level of dance. The price is reasonable they celebrate everyone birthday in that month. (Some parents bring a cake )(The staff offers snacks & drinks) The clients enjoy interacting with each other & parents like myself can relax cuz we know that our keikis (which some are teens to adult in age) can being well taken care of by the staff & we can get a little break on a Aloha Friday night.
