Its kind of tough to rate the Colonial Theatre itself, given that the performance we saw (Godspell) was being held in a tent behind the adjoining Feigenbaum Center. Still, given these COVID-19 times, it was great to see a live show. Not on Zoom or other remote software, but actually live. The theater did an excellent job adapting to difficult circumstances, and I applaud them for it.
Great event with lots of community involvement. Event was very well organized and went very smoothly. My only issue was the seats were a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so sitting, but the presentation on stage was enough to keep my attention focused. All in all, a great time.
Clean, classic proscenium theater. Lots of cool events held here. Definitely reccomend checking out.
Enjoyed Wednesday matinee of Rock and Roll Man, but what made it even more special was how they handled the weather. Lightening struck the theater, and stopped the show. They didnt skip a beat.... drinks comped, reset done and the show went on without a tear or frazzled nerve in sight! Amazing
Interesting old yellow brick building in center of Pittsfield, MA. Theater interior been restored and has 3 beautifully ornate 2 person mezzanine boxes flanking each side of the stage. Entrance is through what appears to be storefront next to a building sign that displays the word GARAGE , which is the name of the bar inside the lobby. Simple stage with no trapping for visual effects. Probably about 250 seating capacity including mezzanine. Orchestra seating has rake that requires a few steps between straight sections of inclined floor. Orchestra side seating also has good visibility to the stage. Bottled water is also allowed in the stage area.
Enterprise rent a car is the best of the lot which find it difficult to distinguish one provider from another. They are accommodating, their cars are clean and they work with you. They are our go to provider of rental cars.
Beautiful venue. However parking is challenging. We ultimately parked in the Masonic Temple across the Street because public parking lot and street parking was full.
It is a beautiful old theater so glad someone had the brains to save this wonderful piece of history
Rock and Roll Man was a wonderful show with amazing talent. Friendly personnel, great seats, and, of course, the building itself is phenomenal. We are so fortunate to have these fantastic shows right in downtown Pittsfield.
Saw a great performance at the Colonial-The Alan Freed Story. Better than Broadway. It blew me away.
What a beautiful place! Plenty of staff there to help you find your seat.
Lovely old theater. The theater is well lit and well amplified. Matinees are great too
Its a lovely antiquated theater filled with posh and baroque esque style! The high level of artistry by the performances compliment the classiness of theater.
Hershey Felder in Gershwin Alone was terrific. He does 400 performances of this (followed by a sing-along and Q&A session where he was informative and entertaining) and other one-man shows per year and after this performance graciously autographed CDs. It was great, and the renovated theater is beautiful.
The Colonial Theater is an amazing performance venue. The auditorium is beautiful and the lobby features a bar with terrific cocktails and local beers. All of the performances weve ever seen here have been memorable from comics to local rock bands to the delightful Berkshire Opera.
An amazing building and an amazing place to catch a show. I think they could definitely get a better variety of acts to grace the stage
Intimate theater opulently decorated. Comfortable seats. Professional performances.
Just a great, historic venue to catch a show. I dont think there is a bad seat in the house as its very intimate. Weve seen a couple jazz concerts here and the acoustics are fantastic.
Love that the Colonial is doing so many different events and bringing some great acts to the Berkshires, Beautiful place as well!
Had a blast. Was so much fun
Fantastic, well managed historic venue.
Spectacular place to watch a show. A theater from another era. Beautiful and ornate. Not a bad seat in the house.
Love our visits to this theater. Shows never disappoint and staff and volunteers are always so nice.
Extremely well done renovations make this theatre both a great performance space as well as a comfortable, fun and interesting place for events with a great warm and welcoming staff.
A great showcase for talent!
Incredible performance of ROCK and ROLL MAN.... Broadway quality
One of the few places left with the authentic old school theater feel.Normally a great place to go for the Warren Miller film every year.Beer selection could be better, but the people make up for it.
A nice old building to see a show.
Performed here and loved every minute
Wonderful venue! My neighbors wife helped to win funding to restore it. RIP and thank you, Mayor Anne Wojkowski.
Very Nice place just wish seats were wider
Nice place to see a performance or a concert. I really wish they would bring in more popular music of all genres. There is another venue in nearby CT that is a quarter of the Colonials capacity that seems to have a regular diet of great musicians. Maybe that isnt the vision for this beautifully restored historic building.
Ive seen live performances here and films. Its a beautifully remodeled theater. I highly recommend seeing something here.
Theatre was comfortable and inviting. Great atmosphere.
Beautiful restoration. A good thing for Pittsfield. Went to a Lez Zeppelin concert there. You might want to wander up to the 3rd floor balcony area. We had 7th row seats far right. Sound and visibility very good. Parked close for $5. My brother used free parking in the back.
Love this beautiful theater!
Watching my granddaughter performing. A wonderful experience for 1st through 9th grade students in that they are given the experience of being trained and performing in a professional environment.
Nice little theatre, David Grover performance for the kids was very nice. We will go back for other shows. There is parking on site for about 50 cars, so arrive early if you want free parking. Otherwise for big events, plan on paying for parking.
Gorgeous space with diverse programming. Ive been there for a concert that was so small that they sat us on the stage, and the Berkshire Theater Group/Berkshire Shenanigans Halloween party, which catered to hundreds of people in the whole venue... Cant wait for the next show!
I was there for a wine tasting. It looks like a nice theater. Im interested to go back to see a show.
Great venue, great acoustics, seating was not tight
A grand reminder of times gone by...a treasure for the city of Pittsfield.
Wonderful production of the Christmas Carol at the Colonial theatre. Loved it!
Beautiful restored theatre, great sound and good acts!
The theatre building itself is beautiful...and the shows are always amazing!! We were never disappointed...and they have rest rooms that are huge!!...no need to make a sprint at intermission!...Nice lobby with adult beverages that you can bring into the show....
Our first visit to this theater and we are coming back soon.
Saw Grateful Dead tribute concert here ! Great !
A gem, really. There is no other way to describe it.It also has an interesting history.Best Theatre around.
Wonderful evening in support of High Schools Musical Theater. What a great idea to bring these talented young performers together insuch a historic, beautiful venue.
Beautiful and historic theater. Great venue for special events or weddings, staff was great!
So beautiful inside and out
Very nice theater
Great restored vaudwville movie type venue
Saw Tarzan. Awesome show. The casts voices are amazing.
Trendy overpriced venue. Beautiful restored architecture that wasn’t meant for middle class of Pittsfield. This place is beautiful but prices for events aren’t meant for average folks
The Colonial has been completely renovated and brought back to its original splendor. Beautiful with great acustics.
Its magical.
Beautiful 800 seat theater meticulously restored with excellent acoustics.
Great place to see a show or concert
Seating in the balcony is terrible. The stairs are too steep and it feels very dangerous if someone were to trip. Also, there were no wheelchair ramps on the balcony floor, even though I took an elevator up from the main lobby. For such an expensive visit, the Colonial is outdated and is in desperate need of rejuvenation.
Excellent show and well performed.Nice Theater.
Great restoration of an old cinema. Acoustics are phenomenal. No seat farther than 50 feet from the stage.
Beautiful venue. Good view in all seats.
One of the most beautiful theaters Ive ever been to. I wish they had more shows.
Wonderful venue. Great performance of a new musical, Tarzan.
Excellent, enjoyed myself at the concert.
I had my wedding reception there and the place is amazing and so much history
Very nice theater.
Show was wonderful, beautiful venue
Great staff, great sound.
A Christmas Carol was amazing! Seats were great! We had an amazing time!!
Great Service,. Great Meal
Great place
Top class
Great theatre venue
Great venue ......really nice people
Tom Petty tribute was great! Good times!
Beautifully restored theater and a wonderful production of A Christmas Carol. Dont miss it.
Great venue. Love that the BSO extends themselves to here. My only gripe is that I would love to see more local artists or a local artist highlight campaign to showcase some of the talent here in Pittsfield.
Fund raiser. Fun night.
The upper balcony for the 2:00 dog show was stiflingly hot! Several attendees felt ill Outdoor temps were in 30s. What is the excuse? Wont be back.
Nice. Dont sit in second balcony.
Friendly, clean professional an a great time had by all
Seen a Christmas Carol very good parking was hell though
Cute old style theater, staff friendly, but extremely HOT...
Very nice theater with good acoustics. Parking can be a bit of a problem.
They have a lot of music and plays and others events their that are amazing.
Lovely setting for a play I recently attended. Historic and beautiful.
Saw The Ten Tenors there. Fabulous theater with a wonderful performance.
Saw Little Shop Of Horrors here, sets were great but the choreography and singing were mediocre. For almost all the songs the balance between singers and between the singers and the orchestra was consistently off.
A Jewel Box containing wonderful entertainment of all kinds. Was the site for James Taylors CD and DVD.
Wonderful performances in a spectacular building
