Renaissance in the Belly of a Killer Whale was a delight. So great that the Wilma gave this wonderful show a forum to be seen. Next stop should be Broadway!Love the artistic atmosphere of the Wilma. Their lobby cafe is quite good. A Philadelphia treasure!

Great spot to do a little work or study on the laptop (at the lobby Cafe). They have a good selection of coffee, bagels and other bites. *Vegan friendly, if youre into that.*Clearly not a review of the actual theater, but if the lobby Cafe (Good Karma) is good, the theater itself must be equally as good.

A few years ago I moved from Philadelphia and this weekend I came into the city to see Describe the Night at Wilma. Great acting and while the many threads in the play might be a little confusing at first, they become clearer and clearer as the plot thickens! Highly recommend especially if you are interested in Russia, Putin and generally in Eastern Europe.

Saw describe the night and it was fantastic. Easy going staff, great cafe with mixed drinks, you can bring drinks in to the theater and you can meet the actors after the show! Very cool.

Place was nice, however the show Dance Nation should of came with a warning 21 and over. Also, if this was children age thirteen in my opinion was seriously not appropriate for this age group. Also, my niece (who has been dancing since age 3 and on competition dance for 5 years), is 16 and she was with her boyfriend and they both did not like it at all. Was not funny and made no sense. I just wish more information would have been posted of what this was really about.

We watched the wonderful BalletX , what a great art in contemporary Ballet and the music along with the singing just pulled it all together . This was my first time at this theater, i loved the seating, you can see from everywhere. Pleasant staff.

This season the Wilma Theater is presenting plays with different stages and seating arrangements to accommodate the play. I saw There with 8 actors and actresses speaking and moving on an extra large wooden stage shaped like a skateboarders ramp. Wilmas plays are eclectic so be prepared to see multifaceted plays.

A really great place to see a show. There is not a bad seat in the theater. I saw the comedy sportz world championship here. It was a riot. Teams from different cities battle in improv matches similar to whose line is it anyway. They were fun and silly. If you like to laugh i highly recommend it. I know you will have a good time!

The Wilma is one of the few theaters that got the seating right. Each row seemed to be properly raised over the prior so that you can see the stage without constantly looking for an opening between the two moving heads in front of you. For that alone I will happily continue to support The Wilma.

Great venue. Resident theater for BalletX. Not a bad seat in the house. Actually sitting in the front row is a disadvantage because you are so close that you can touch the performers, but you cant see the zoomed out view. Nevertheless its always a wonderful time at the Wilma.

Loved the performance of Dionysus was Such a Nice Man. My first time there and Im so glad that my friends introduced me to this theater. Everything about our experience was good. First thing that happened was my friend somehow got a cut on her hand as we were being dropped off. The staff was very helpful in providing a band-aid quickly. Nice variety of snacks and beverages. First theater Ive been to that sells kombucha! Enjoyed the Q&A with the actors afterwards.

Nice place to see live performances. Not a bad seat in the house. Food service person was giving us a hard time ordering something to eat. She would not take a sandwich order. She kept saying you can take a snack into theater and pointed to wrapped peanut bars. I explained more than once my daughter was diabetic and needed a meal and that we would not take it in theater. She huffed and finally placed order.

Saw Passing Strange. I have never had so much fun at a play. I Ive seen a lot of plays. There was so much passion and life. The cast and orchestra were phenomenal. It was a true testament to the script how universal finding yourself really is. Bravo. Also, I really appreciate that there are student tickets.

Review №27

The little Cafe outside of the theater is really cool, but inside of the theater itself is very small. There arent any aisles to separate the rows of seats so you have to scoot through the whole row of people if you end up sitting in the center seats. The seats are also very close together so youre up close and personal with your neighbors. Its a bit claustrophobic so I wouldnt want to have to be there for longer than maybe an hour and a half.

Review №91

One of the worst shows I ever seen. I have seen shows all over and this one is the worst. I just came back from a show now and I had to share this. Thats how bad. It is very awkward when you have to wait in the very small lobby. As soon as you go into the auditorium you are informed you may leave to use tha bathroom but you may not come back into the auditorium! Why not just lock the outside doors, this is just a horrible idea. The only best part is that you can see the stage from all angles. The play I saw tonight was Antigone, let me tell you its not what you expect. You cant even follow the story line because half of it was in a different language, where their was subtitles but half the time they werent there and then the other half didnt even matched up with what the actress was saying. So I consistantly had to keep looking up to see if there were any subtitles. Also there was not enough people to play the parts. One girl was one mans wife, the next she had a different name and was Creons wife. How can we follow this. This play had to many different things going on and was not at all good. The staff on the other hand was friendly, not what the other reviews said. I think its the ownership/managements fault and they let you know that they want your money all over the place. I even found ads saying that you can use them for your will. Yeah...okay.It might have just been this show but I highly wont take another hour drive to see them again. Unless they change completely for the viewers, I see no reason to go. Even though the tickets are cheap due to a stated grant, which means part of my ticket was still payed by someone else, it should be better. Your in tough market on a tough street... Start getting to work.
