This Museum located in Philadelphia is a very nice place to visit. This building is very beautiful and has a place to sit outside where you can just rest or read a book. In about 60 minutes, it is possible to visit it all. It has a very nice display of Rodin’s sculptures. In the entry, people can find the most famous Rodin’s sculpture: The thinker. Inside, there is an important collection that was a gift to the city offered by Jules Ephraim Mastbaum. All the pieces are very well organized and the information provided is good and interesting. While I was walking by the different rooms, I was thinking that Rodin’s work was very large and impressive and, as I never saw one of his works before, all I was able to see fascinated me. When you first enter to the building, you walk by the souvenirs store. Then, as we visited first the Philadelphia Museum of Art, we didn’t pay for this visit, which we considered very convenient, so we received a very nice welcome to the place and were able to start our tour. Everything is clean, the staff is very kind and we really loved the time we expend. Nice work!

I visited this museum bc it was free with a ticket to the Museum of Art. I think if you really like classic sculpture and or Rodin its very impressive. If youre not than its still worth walking around the grounds if youre nearby but I wouldnt go out of my way.I dont know a lot about sculpture but I was ecstatic to find a little Giacometti in a glass case. Made my day!

While I dont think this museum is a must see in Philadelphia for the average person, I am definitely glad I took the time to come in. I wasnt too familiar with Rodin before coming here but I was intrigued enough by his work to do some research on him after leaving. There are several statues outside that you can view without going in, and Im sure the grounds are beautiful in the spring/summer/fall but unfortunately I visited in winter so the fountains were off and all foliage was bare. Admission was simply a donation, we paid the suggested donation which was about $12 per person and they let us know that if you visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art the same day and show your ticket, you get that amount you paid at the Rodin Museum off your admission at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which is standard $22 per person to visit.

The Rodin Museum is beautiful, both inside and out. There are lovely gardens around the exterior, with places to sit. Inside there are tons of pieces by Rodin and others, many of which you can get up close to really see the intricate details in his work.Overall, if you love Rodin or sculpture, this is a must see place!

This is probably one of the most beautiful museums I have gone to thus far. The pieces are extraordinary and so well maintained and the place is extremely clean. You can pretty much see everything with a hours time since this museum is small. As soon as you walk in you hit the gift shop. You have a choice of buying your ticket for just this museum or you can pay to see both the Rodin Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (I will get to that review later). My favorite pieces were The Gates of Hell, The Thinker, The Kiss (even though it is a replica) and the Centauress. It is really worth checking out if you are interested in sculptures.

Well worth the visit for The Gates of Hell alone. Located at the very entrance to the museum, youll be marvelled even before entering and, inside, youll see some of his works you cant catch in history books. Small, serene, great ambiance for a museum. Staff was a bit creepy though...I tried to ask for a price at the gift shop and was greeted with a cold store is closed. That was at 4:30 and closing time is 5:00 pm.Beautiful beautiful facade, with a replica of the thinker facing the street and magical-looking gardens between it and the museum. Another amazing world class museum in Philadelphia. And this one is not that large, so it is very manageable in an hour or few. Friendly staff and amazing collection of Rodin with a few others in the mix. Note that they do not have a coat or bag check, but there is a place where people can leave their bags if they want. Magic place during the summer. You can either pay the 10 fee for this museum or but the 20usd entrance fee for the Philadelphia Art Museum, other two museums and the Rodin one. It is definitely worth to go, they have little chairs and tables in the garden to drink something while enjoying a beautiful day. The sculptures are really good. If you know Rodin it is a must, if you like sculpture you should get to know him and if its either you should only as general knowledge and youll get a very good sense of who is Rodin. This is a beautiful museum with dramatic works by Rodin and the occasional other sculptor. It was very enjoyable and the art was very good, but I wasnt floored the way I expected to be.I think Rodins art is about emotion and idea. Its as if the hands of each sculpture are speaking whole sentences. But only the most critical details of most sculptures are filled in, the rest left almost brutally rough or omitted entirely. The beautifully smooth sculptures are all other artists copies of Rodins originals. The only other Rodin exhibition Ive seen is the figures from hell at Stanford U in California and it left me with a similar feeling of ambiguity. Maybe its that both fall short of the tales of the beauty of the Musée Rodin in Paris.Dont get me wrong, the price is right (donate what you want) and there are great works here, well worth seeing, in a lovely garden setting and beautiful building. Just not as mind blowing as I had expected.

The largest dedicated collection of Rodins work outside of France, need I say more? Beautiful architecture houses some of his most renown works. Take a few minutes to look at the Gates of Hell right outside the entrance. The three dimensional nature of the work is not at all served by photos and this may be your only chance of ever seeing an original casting of it in America. I take part issue with some works being kept in corner alcoves or against walls when I would love to better see them in-the-round, but nothing so large that keeps me from giving 5 stars.

Review №52

Not as big as i expect, but still many sculptures, you can go inside with the ticket of Phili’s art museum, it has the famous ‘thinker’ and many other Rodin’s work. While its hard to argue the the Rocky statue is probably more popular, Rodin has certainly been around longer. The grounds of the museum are free and have Rodins all around. The huge Rodin door is tremendous. The gardens are beautiful for an outside lunch with the bees and butterflies. For $10 per adult (optional), you can view the inside with both the darker bronzes and the white clay and marble sculptures include the famous thinker.
