This museum is located in the Parramore District of Orlando. They only take cash, so be prepared for that. There were three staff members there during our visit. All three of them were very friendly and knowledgeable. We watched a short video and then was led on a docent guided tour of the first and second floors. What fascinating history! Dr. Wells was an incredibly generous man. The museum educates you on many facets of African-American history. The second floor has offices and we were able to see what a room looked like in the hotel when it was opened. They are raising money to reopen the house next door (where the casino used to stand). I recommend a visit to this little museum. You will come away with a great deal of information about African-American history and culture!

The tour guide was very helpful. Its very easy to miss the building, so better signage is needed. Parking is limited. However, it is a good place to stop amd learn about some African American history.

Visited this museum today, important work, great tour and in-depth exploration of local black history - thank you Catrice (I might be getting the name wrong). We headed over to the Orange County Regional History Museum later on which covered all topics but also covered the African-American experience. Altogether, a morning well-spent - I recommend these two to anyone who wishes to better understand Orlando and the stories of its people.

This is a great museum, very informative. They only accept cash or PayPal, so be prepared for that. Its a hidden gem. Drive slowly because you can surely miss it! Please donate if you can, its really needed, and we cant allow this piece of history to die.

Just visited this museum for the first time! It was such a beautiful building and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable! Katrice answered all of our questions and even took the time to show us some really special artifacts in the museum! I never knew about Ray Charles or Johnny Otis staying and playing shows right in downtown Orlando!

I volunteer for a small nonprofit Asian American Historical and Cultural Preservation group in CA, and I loved this intimate museum.Patrice, the docent at the WillsBuilt Museum of African Am. History Museum, spent a great deal of time today answering all of our questions. Im so grateful for the local support to preserve the stories, struggles and successes in this historical African American community.
