On this spot there once stood an old hydroelectric power plant. Is history dates back more than 100 years. In 1990, Rocky Mountain Power took over the plant, and it was a relic! When their 25-year lease expired in 2015, Central Utah Water Conservancy built a brand new all-electric plant. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed in the new facility. But CUWC aims to convert the old plant into a museum, and we got a sneak peak at it!
A hidden piece of history nestled in Provo Canyon. This is where Nikola Tesla and Westinghouse developed many electric appliances for the modern age. A new hydroelectric plant was built and is quite impressive to see.
I walked right by the ruins to the plant this morning. And I have been frequently passing the plant since my family moved to Utah from Texas in 1995. Its so great and a great place to have as a part of my life.
Power generating.
First electrical engineer school in the country for AC. Nikola Tesla built the generator in this building. Truly a great site right at the mouth of the Provo canyon. Also there filmed some horror shows here
