The Hilbert Museum is an excellent way to spend an hour or two. They have a great collection of California art and get some great special exhibitions. The size of the museum makes it very accessible, even for younger children, because it is not so expansive that it requires hours to see it all, yet the quality of the collection is very good so you feel like you have had a really fulfilling art experience. The docents are helpful and outgoing. Parking on site is limited but there is plenty of free parking in the area. And the museum is across the street from the Orange Transportation Center so it is accessible by Metrolink and by OCTA bus. Treat yourself to a visit.

It is a small but exquisite museum, beautiful paintings from local artists from last century. It is like going back in time and see how these places looked like before all the construction began.

The guest services staff is warm and friendly. They are very knowledgeable about the exhibits. The ladies at the desk were happy to share their enthusiasm and knowledge.Big thanks to all, especially Lavender the student intern- who went above and beyond to welcome us-even sharing her tips for best local restaurant and sights to see after the museum visit. Thanks to the staff we had a great time and learned so much!

This museum has a nice collection of area artists showing subject matter from San Francisco to San Diego. While nothing Earth shattering, it is quality work. Enjoy spending a couple hours viewing all the pieces. Worth your time if you like area paintings, especially water colors. Best of all its free.

Love the programs they present. Visit included a presentation of a detail outline of Stan Vosbergs method for concept through final painting. Many steps and hours are used to historically and spacially be accurate for his paintings. He was informative and info was presented with lots of humor. Good job Stan. Go see his display!

This museum is a great place to learn about California history in terms of art! The service is great and there are lots of great paintings and artifacts to be found here! Also a great place to railfan since Orange Station is directly in front of the museum (it is also convenient that for those who dont have transportation to the museum, you can take the train straight there!)

One of the best museums in So Cal even though only a few years old. Mr & Mrs Hilbert have done a very generous and timely thing by providing an opportunity to enjoy art with a great setting. What makes it happen is the tireless work of the director, Mary Platt, who assembles shows with amazing insight and talent. It all comes together at the incredibly well coordinated opening receptions. Add easy access by car, bus, train, plane(ok, I got carried away) with unlimited free parking across the street at train station makes this onto my MUST attend schedule. Note: it is much larger inside than it appears when you pull up, so plan a few visits per exhibition and definitely catch their Thursday morning docent tour.

This is a free museum with contemporary paintings from the last century that mostly depicts California lifestyle. I loved the paintings and how there is an explanation and interpretation near each painting. The museum is small, I took the time to examine every painting and overall I spent there a little over an hour. They have a few spots of free parking and a few 2 hour parking spots across the street.

This is a gem with free admission and a unique niche in observable California scenes and rotating special exhibits with the same basic theme. A short must stop if you are in the area. Withing walking distance (or a very short drive) of all the shops and dining in Old Town Orange. They have a small parking lot in front, but be sure to obtain a parking pass from the reception desk and place it on your dash while using one of their spaces to avoid and issue with parking enforcement for Chapman University, of which the museum is a part.
