Total attitude from cashier tonight when I told him the price was different in the shelf. It isn’t about the money. Stock your shelves in the appropriate places and when a customer brings it to your attention don’t be snotty about it. Apologize and once you saw it was your mistake correct it and honor the price on the shelf. The young man behind the counter today around 5pm seemed inconvenienced just when I walked up to the counter in the first place. Hire people that know how to provide good customer service.

Wide variety of animals the kids can pet and hold. Large variety of dog food. A employee in the reptiles section is really passionate about his critters! He was very helpful, took the extra time to explain to my kids about each animal.

Staff was friendly however beware the pricing scheme!! They will not disclose prices of puppies over the phone. They will have you come into the store, sit you down with a puppy before giving you a price. They wanted $5500 for a golden retriever puppy. Save your time and search elsewhere.

Be careful when buying exotic animals. My daughter spent a large portion of her savings on a cockatiel. Great bird. Was her best friend. An important part of her life and our family’s life. However, they told us repeatedly to clip his wings every six months to keep him grounded. That is false information. After Billy escaped through a crack on our door he promptly flew away. After only 8 weeks of having the olathe store clip his wings. As it turns out, this should be done every 1 to two months depending on the bird. Bottom line, they gave us false information and as a result my daughters heart is broken, as is the rest of our family.Peatland, start providing accurate information or stick to fish and hamsters!This is just the beginning.Potential customers, don’t rely on them for accurate information. Check with your vet or do a simple google search to get the right information

TLDR: Dont ask them to look into financing, theyll sign you up for a terrible credit card without your approval under the guise of conducting a credit report.I visited this location to see a puppy I was interested in purchasing. I began inquiring about the price and was shocked to hear a mixed breed dog for over $4,500 initially that eventually dropped to $3,700. Ive worked at pet stores and sold puppies 10 years ago. I know that prices have risen but those prices are absurd. Having absurd prices is not the issue here, its your products, charge what you want and the market will take care of the rest.The source of my negative experience was when they asked me if I was interested in financing. Out of curiosity I said sure, Id like to know what they can offer. I filled out a credit report document for them to check my credit and waited until a man I had not been dealing with approached me with a piece of paper. He told me good news, I was approved for a PetLand credit card with a $4,500 limit and with my initial purchase Id only have 5.6% interest rate (20% interest rate after that). I was confused, I asked if this was the financing option they spoke to me about and they said yes. Now Im not perfect but my credit is great and I know that so the card rates are absolutely horrible especially for someone with good credit. So I tell him not to worry, if Im going to buy the dog I would do it outright and wouldnt need the card. The man said the piece of paper he was handing me was essentially confirmation a card was approved with my name on it and on the way and if I didnt want it, well I didnt need to use it. These practices of signing people up for a store credit card when telling customers you need their information to work on financing is dishonest and frankly insulting. I do not recommend anyone do business with an establishment that cant be honest and upfront with its customers let alone one that jacks up prices for dogs so high.This isnt a one star because the workers other than the man who approached me with my new credit card I didnt ask for, where very nice and the areas I saw were clean. A clean pet store that does not have a pet store smell is a good thing. Might be a decent place to get pet supplies but Id definitely check for competing prices to make sure you dont end up paying quadruple the cost for your dogs next chewtoy.

This store was very dirty the fish tanks were discussing. The puppys looked very thin you could see the ribs on the short haired ones long haired a little harder to tell. All employees geathered in a clumped in the back of the store. I was very upset with the store and the way the animals were being taken care of.

We purchased our puppy Mika here (Golden Labrador Retriever) and in less than a year she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. After 2 years she has now been diagnosed with arthritis, and has torn ACLs in both hind legs. This is an indicator that she was born in a puppy mill and possibly a result of inbreeding. Please do not support this franchise. They will show you pictures of the family that the puppies came from and claim that they do not buy from puppy mills, but our dog is proof that this is a lie.

I called ahead to make sure it was okay that i brought a group of disabled adults in the store to visit and get to know all the animals. the manager said of course & were happy to have us there. once we arrived a guy named keaton showed us around. he introduced us to all of the animals & let us visit & learn about each one ! he was smiling & answering all sorts of questions . we have been other places before & no places compares to the amount of joy the guys had ! this is by far the best place we have gone ! if you want a fun joyful experience please come to petland ! the manager & keaton were AMAZING !!!!!

Its clear and the pets well cared for. They have a large selection of pet supplies but the one complaint is their staff are not very knowledgeable about their items or pets.

I don’t want to give any stars because they didn’t deserve it. We bought a green cheek conure, we didn’t notice it had a broken claw and we went to the store, the manger was so rude,bossy,yelling. We finally returned it, and they tell us they weren’t going to sell to us at all petlands, they made a call for every petland and made a bad review, they said we can never buy anything,or go there anymore, The manager was yelling at my family. They had a sign that said “Apply now and Save today!” And it wasn’t true, we asked one of the workers if there is a discount and they worker said “yes but you have to apply for the pet land card” After that they said “No”. Don’t pay attention to the sign.

Its not a bad pet store but its nothing special. It was honestly kind of hard to tell who worked there other than the older guy. The smell is fairly bad even for a pet store. Dog prices are considerable cheaper than other places Ive been but still not cheap.

Honestly I dont get what the problem is we got two of our dogs from their store and the prices are reasonable and our dogs are both very obedient and when we got them they came with a kit its a great store I love the variety of animals there I would recommend this store its employees are caring and nice and answered the questions asked and they have very beautiful dogs my Pomsky has 1 blue and 1 green eye.

Went to buy hairball stuff for my cat and the computer system was down waited a half hour for it to come up but nno luck left my # for them to let me know when it was back up but by that time. I was frustrated and went somewhere else.

The living space of those poor puppies is depressing. Not a place I would recommend.

Extremely unfriendly, I have bought pets from there and unfortunately when I encountered medical issues with them, that is when I stopped being a valued customer, I did seek legal advise and decided not to pursue, I do not have the time and do not want anymore business with them. I definitely advise not visit, or purchase anything from there. Extremely disappointed and I have had many friends and family that have had issues and problems with this brand. I have taken action and contacted several agencies about the issues I see and have encountered. I hope that something is done to fix the issues. I do hope they work on their customer service and stop the obvious discrimination before someone files a lawsuit and they have a very serious problem.

We cant own dogs but we go in to play with the dogs here since my son is 2 and loves them. The shelter is too overwhelming for him. The staff has always been really understanding and nice about it too as long as we are honest about it and we try not to go in if they are busy. Added bonus is we get to meet cuties like the new husky.

I had an appointment to see a puppy I had on hold. I called thirty minutes before arriving to confirm.Upon my arrival they informed me another women had adopted the puppy because they assumed she was me.I have filed a complaint and I feel heartbroken. I had a name and items all ready for the puppy and it was taken away from me because they did not confirm it was me.

No prices on any of their animals except their reptiles (which were marked 2-4x higher than what would be considered normal and were sequestered in a dark alcove on a Sunday afternoon). Many of the reptile habitats seemed excessively dry, as well. Cute, clean puppies and the place was packed with people in the petting booths, but I would find a reputable breeder or adopt from a shelter.

Went to see what the new owner did with the place, we were not impressed with the way it used to be. Now the layout is better, no dust on everything and I will actually shop here again! We met the new owner and he is super nice. I would now recommend this place.

I found out they euthanize puppies that dont sell and are selling them for 10-15 THOUSAND dollars I wont support this store until these practices change.

Initially, our experience was GREAT! When we purchased our 2 fur babies, a bishpoo and a yorkipoo, we were told that should anything happen to either puppy they would replace them. They were still eating the food we purchased from them and one day the yorkipoo was hit by a car and didn’t make it. He was only 5 months old. The vet tried to save him but unfortunately was not able to save him. Teddy was such a good puppy and everyone loved him. I contacted the store via email twice and explained what had happened and I never received a response back either time. They do not stand by their word. The BBB is my next stop. The least they could do is offer to reimburse my money. We paid $1,500 for each puppy. Very heartbroken and would not recommend this store for anything.

I absolutely LOVE this store! I got my puppy from here and he is the best. They will answer any questions you have. All of the animals are always fed,and have clean food and water! At nights when I go in the staff is always giving their pets fresh food and water and again in the mornings. Their puppies are super cute and very reasonably priced for everything they get sent home with. Their puppies always look and smell great! They definitely keep up with bathing and nail trims, they love the puppies like they are their own. I hope more people get pets from here since we know they are healthy and well socialized.

Not much of a selection for dog food, they used to sell blue buffalo, well at least the type I get for my dog and at a good price but now they dont. I dont like the pressure of feeling like I need to adopt a dog when I just want to take a peek at them. I do like that its a local business but it always looks like empty and I feel like the price to adopt a dog there is RIDICULOUS!!!! I know dogs/pets are priceless but I mean realllllly, they try to say that its more expensive because you get the shots and dog food and a crate but I did that at the kc pet project for more than 5 times less. I just think more dogs would be adopted if their prices were much lower MUCH LOWER.... I will say that the staff is always helpful and always greets me when I walk in. So thats nice.

Shelly is the most incredible employee!! I have never had such a wonderful experience at any petstore ever. She was extremely friendly and kind, willing to let us see the puppies and answer any questions we had. She is also absolutely great with children! If you come here ask for Shelly!!

Outrageously high priced pets. We were told $2400 cash for a gshep and the next day it cost $3250. Any good breeder charges 300-1000 for most breeds

I don’t even know where to start. I recently purchased a French Bulldog and paid $6240. I asked the young nice gentleman if I needed to neuter him and he said no and I was given a $100 voucher for Stanley vet clinic for neutering. I went to vet my free visit at Stanley vet clinic were I found out he had been neutered when his hernia was repaired. I was lied to and I was scammed. Now I’m concerned that he will experience health problems from being neutered at a young age. I have made SEVERAL calls to the store and have not got a returned phone call. The GM kept acting like she had amnesia and I needed to “refresh her memory”. It doesn’t stop there. When I filled out my paper work in the back room there was sick cavalier spaniel puppy that looked like it was dying and the GM said it had failure to thrive and had a worker give it IV fluids in its back. The worker said that she didn’t know how to do it and the GM instructed her how. I’m about to pay $6240 for a puppy and you have me looking at a dying dog? And there was an application sitting next to me on the desk with somebody’s social security number on it. I should have just walked out them. I love my puppy with all my heart but I’m so sick over the whole experience. I can’t believe how unprofessional this place is. I’m still waiting for my phone call for whoever reads this.

I just got bitten by an Albino Rabbit today, and i would like share my feelings about this and about people and childern being exposed to an animal that bites. I think that if PetLand knows that an animal has bitten not only the employs but other costumers and they know about it, this animal shouldnt be out for people to touch. But in a cage that says do not touch.all in all i think the employs did a great job helping me with my wound. and im more worried about the customers but i do thank the employes for helping me.

Wonderful staff and an adorable selection of puppies!

Its just unpleasant. I really dont want to hate on pet stores but this one is has a half and half appearance in how it cares. Half of the stuff looks like they genuinely care and the other half just seems minimal effort.Their hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits look to be well taken care of and clean. The aquarium or remnants of now house what I presume to be feeder fish. The tanks are cloudy and I try to steer my kids away from it since the area seems poorly kept.The dogs are kept generally pretty clean but in very small space and I dont believe are ever outdoors at anytime. Im not sure if PetLand practices are any better but several stores were closed awhile back for acquiring dogs from puppy mills so Im always doubtful of the pedigree found here. FYI the dogs are extremely pricey whereas the animal shelter is not.Dog food has a fairly well stocked selection but cats, rodents, and birds are limited in food supply. The bathrooms are in the employee only back door and available to the public but best skipped. The backroom was in poor shape with mouse traps, roach killer, and other supplies just laying about. The entire backroom smelled like a zoo even more than expected in a pet store.Overall this store is what you would expect to find in an old mall slowly going out of business. The lack of care shown, empty shelves, and poor conditions make this the last store I ever go to in Olathe for pet supplies. But the kid had to pee and I needed cat food.

Manager was very rude, and is full of sass. My friend who worked there had to quit because of how bad they place is. If the dogs are too loud, they smack them. They don’t clean the kennels enough, plus they take poor care of their smaller animals and don’t stop small children from throwing them around. She told me they found a litter of kittens on the street and brought them in to sell them for $1,500. The Overland Park location would be a great guide for you to follow on how to treat your animals. But there’s no way I’m paying $6,000 for a dog you bought for $400 plus some cheap toys and a kennel. Please get this place an actual manager.

Absolutely horrible place to go to. Owner and owners wife is quite possibly the rudest lady Ive ever met. The dogs come in very sick and mistreated. Some even pass away. Never buy from this place, let alone support the chain. Employees have nothing better to do then start drama with customers and fellow employees. Behind the scenes of this place is honestly so disgusting. Half of the time everyone is out back smoking. Horrible.

Do you judge someone’s baby when poop leaks out of their diaper? No, because they’re defenseless and can’t care for themselves. They’re puppies for the Love of God. They’re gonna make messes get over it. I have bought a puppy here and as long as you are a RESPONSIBLE adult and care of it, your puppy is going to be healthy. I had all the Breeder information in my papers when I purchased. Don’t listen to the hype that these puppies are from Puppy Mills. Tamara, the Manager, will put you in your place and explain that she loves each and every one of those dogs as her own. People are trying to put these places out of business simply because they CANNOT afford a high quality dog. You can adopt, sure, but do you really KNOW where that dog came from? Before you point fingers at this place and make wild accusations about this place of business, read the plenty of other AMAZING reviews on this place. We have to many snowflakes in this world that get to “offended” over every little thing. Get yourself a puppy from here. They’re cute, cuddly, and quite possibly the best thing you can do! :) Puppies deserve homes just as much as shelter dogs.

This store USED to be pretty nice and had a good selection of reptiles and reptile supplies. I stopped by to see if they had anything new and they have barely any supplies and only had one leopard gecko, one crested, and a Chinese water dragon who unfortunately doesnt look like he will make another week without vet care. Very disappointed with where this store is right now.

Friendly staff. Cute puppies. More exotic pets than you might imagine. On this last trip, the sales associate told me I could save money buying the larger bag of dog food. So I agreed. When he went to get it, they were out so he gave me a second bag of food at the discounted price.

Staff was very nice. However, we got a puppy there and were told that the Puppy for Life Program, which requires you to purchase food from Petland every 90 days, was a global program. Meaning, we could purchase dog food from any Petland and it counted toward the program. We specifically asked this question because with our jobs we move around. We stopped by the Overland Park location since we were in the neighborhood and learned that this is not the case. We did learn that Petlands are privately owned and the computer systems arent connected to where we can apply dog food purchases to our program from any location except the one we got our puppy at. I cant confirm whether being told this was due to bad training or just blatantly deceptive sales practices. I hope it due to the former because, as I said, the staff was quite nice.

The staff and management were very rude when we asked to play with the dogs, they kept spraying down the rooms when they werent being used. And continuously sayed we would have to wait for the rooms to dry. Then proceeded to talk bad about my child to the other staff members in the back thinking we couldnt hear them but we could.

The store had a really bad odor as soon as I walked in. I was greeted at the door by an older gentalman that was very kind, which is why I gave two stars and not one. I had talked to two employees before about purchasing a puppy. Their names were Trevor and Rontay, I only remember because I wrote them down. They were very kind and were not rude even though I showed interest but did not purchase a puppy at the time. I was finally ready to go ahead and get a puppy but when I came in and asked the manager that day if Trevor was there I was immediately told no and given a cold shoulder. She did not ask what I needed nor did she refer me to another employee. She just ignored me after I asked if he was there. I am very disappointed with her considering my experience before with Trevor and Rontay was beyond excellent. Im not sure why I was treated that way but she was so rude and dismissive I will not being going back to get a puppy, nor will I be coming back for supplies for the dog I have now. This business should really consider getting a manager that has better customer service skills.

Do not buy fish there. They will not live. In one fish tank every single fish has Ick decease. In other tank sick goldfish mingle with dead ones. Of the owners and staff can not keep up with the maintenance they should not carry lives. It is just cruel. I hope they treat their puppies better than their fish.

Respectively, I have not visited this particular store. But I have seen multiple complaints, disgusting video evidence, and from overall personal evaluation I can safely say that this place is a disgusting pet store that just wants a cash grab. Open top cages where children can just pick up animals and terrorize them as they please, DEAD hermit crabs, and of course, puppies in miniature cages that most defninitly came from a puppy mill. On top of all this, the petland employees either seriously seem like they do not care or they are incredibly uneducated, and the instructions given out to people are also very,very false (although this is an issue with every pet store.) Again, I have never personally visited the store, but there is plenty of evidence to show this disgust. I will never be visiting a pet land location

These folks are very helpful. Pretty much the only pet store I go to.

There is a very noticeable stench when you first walk in, its quite bad. But the puppies are well kept after, and the staff is very helpful and not at all pushy.

The employees were very nice and helpful. They answered my many questions kindly and hello myself and my kids spend time with the puppies.

No decent breeder would sell their puppies to Petland. There are plenty of dogs in shelters that need homes. There are plenty of breed specific rescues. If you still want a purebred, buy from an ethical breeder. Dont give your money to businesses like this that support puppy mills.

They screw up paperwork they give out your personal information to people that it doesnt belong to and three times Ive been there at 9:30 when it says they open at 9 and theyre closed. And conditions the puppies live in is nasty. And they let the puppies eat their own poop and they tell me that its normal and I know that its not.

To the guy whom speaks of kennel ingredients his pit at our store for one we dont kennel dogs so dont know qy all what your speaking of and second we believe all pups are equal till proven different just as humans in fact I am manager there and own one of the only breeds that has managed to get themselves banded in a whole state and my dog goes to work with me so please dont post lies

This has always been my favorite Petland. Recently the new staff is horrible, and has 0 knowledge on anything in the store. One new individual with glasses had his pants down to his knees practically. It went along great with his slurred words and heavy eyes. Im sure they dont drug test but at least dont bring on others who will ruin your business. I will he waiting some time to return. I hope when I do, things have changed. 5/12

Extremelly friendly and helpful staff. They didnt mind my 4 kids holding any puppy of their choice and never lost patience. We got a puppy today and its been the best behaved pup ive ever known! Highly recommend adopting from here.

I had baby bunnies they said theyd buy from me. Took them in at 8 weeks old as it is not recommended they are weaned any sooner. They complained about the fact they were not 5-6weeks old but still took them. They did not pay me yet said they did. The manager who appeared to still be in high school claimed she handed me the cash and a receipt, which she did not. She agreed to check the cameras after excessively requesting. I waited over half an hour to hear back from her while being told from another kid they couldnt figure out how to work the footage. After threatening to call the police to have it sorted out, they immediately handed me the money and apologized. I will NEVER go back!!
