This is a beautiful place where there is a different feeling when you walk on to the grounds. The beautiful masonry on the temple of the Savior and his disciples is just exquisite. The Christmas lights are amazing and the tulips in April are wonderful. This place is simply amazing. When you step on the grounds it seems as you cannot hear the rest of Oakland. A quiet sacred place where you can commune with the Lord or learn more of him. The virtual tours at TempleHill.org are wonderful to learn more about the Savior and this church.

The Oakland Temple is beautiful, as soon as we were arriving we were able to see the beautiful lights. Of course pictures can’t capture the beauty of them as if you were walking around. The Temple gardens are so beautiful in its design.The fountains, the architecture and the visitors center are magnificent.The Temple has an upper garden you can walk in with those family, friends and kids. The view at the top of the gardens is stunning as you can see the whole city.If you want to have a moment to ponder and reflect you must visit the Temple

This is such a beautiful place to visit even if youre just stopping by. The grounds are well-kept and beautiful. You get a real sense of serenity here. The views of the surrounding cities is breath taking. The people at the visitors center are so gracious and helpful. Really enjoy this location.

What a beautiful temple! I’ve grown up coming here and it’s such a pretty place. The grounds are big and well decorated, and well lit at night. There’s a beautiful stream heading down the middle. I’ve been to temples all over the state and this might be the best one. The grounds are by far the prettiest and the view is spectacular. The temple itself is newly renovated and the waterfall and golden doors are a new and cool sight to see. Highly recommend to all, whether you are curious about religion or not it is a must see when sightseeing in the Bay Area.

We were so pleasantly surprised when we decided to visit this temple. We had no idea there was a visitor center and we also had no idea the view is so gorgeous!! Even if you are not a member of this faith it is a must visit!! The grounds are beautiful and the views are spectacular. They told us to come back at night and see it in all its glory with the lights on. We plan on coming back tonight. The missionaries were so welcoming and very informative. No matter where you are in the world any temple site you visit is so peaceful and beautiful. This one did not disappoint at all and is a must visit. Also as you leave the temple front gate across the street there is a stairs you can go up to see the temple from a parking lot above. It is beautiful but the power lines get in the way. I bet if you are good enough you could photo shop them out.

The temple of the Church of Jesus Christ in Oakland is beautiful. It was also remodeled recently, so the grounds and visitor center are perfect places to visit and learn more about this magnificent building in the Oakland hills. The temple is a place where members of the Church of Jesus Christ go to make covenants with God. I’ve had friends get married in this temple, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Married for time and all eternity in this beautiful temple on November 25, 2015! Stop by the visitors center. Always a wonderful experience going. Must go at Christmas time when the lights are turned on, and there are many musical programs to attend.

I am amazed at the peace I feel every time I go. There is truly something special about this place. It is beautiful and serene. Anyone is welcome to tour the grounds, including a walk on the roof of the temple. Visitors may also go to the Visitors Center and talk to volunteers. I would recommend going at sunset. The view is breathtaking.

This is truly a house of the Lord. Went to the open house after they remodeled it. Beautiful building. Cant beat the view from the rooftop gardens. The visitors center free and available for anyone to come but o go inside the temple after it is dedicated you have to be a member of the church... Would recommend that too

A beautiful church and complex. The visitors center is warm and inviting, even if you are not a practicing Mormon. The people working here truly are kind and understanding, and were very friendly and excited that I was there to see the church. Visiting for the architecture alone is worth it. The church was closed on a Monday, so I recommend coming on other days or calling to see if the interior is open. Absolutely a must see in Oakland.

Im reading the architecture here. it is pretty nice in there and it seems like they spend a lot of money to make it look the way it looks. its all pretty weird though its definitely gives inside view of the life and the beliefs of the Mormon people, but to each their own and they want to join a cult. they definitely use the visiting times as a form of recruitment and explaining themselves to the community and but its kind of gives an eerie feeling if youre not into the religion and if youre not easily persuaded. But architectures pretty good and it was a nice view

Such beautiful grounds! There are 3 or 4 bridges over the water feature. There is an upper garden on top of the temple mezzanine. The adjacent visitors center is filled with interactive activities and information, including kids.

Love the Oakland Temple Visitors center. The statue of Jesus Christ is especially peaceful and evocative of His love and sacrifice for us. I always feel welcome there and come away with a sense of renewal.

Had tour of the beautiful LDS temple in Oakland. Peaceful grounds with nice landscaping. Is a place for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to assemble and worship on days other than Sunday and for helping our kindred who have passed on.

I can not rate it as a church, but it is a beautiful place to visit, especially when they have their Christmas lights up. It is a must stop sometime over the holidays. Great views of the bay too, and those are all year. I have always felt welcome by staff and security.

This is heaven on Earth, really. Its quite a drive for me but so worth it and Im so thankful I can feel Gods spirit every time I go, even to just walk around outside. They also have a rooftop garden with a breathe taking view I would recommend to anyone!

Beautiful temple and grounds, a lovely place to visit regardless of religious affiliation. One thing I found unique is that there is garden area up on the roof (?) of the temple that you can go explore. There is also a visitor center, family history center and multistake building.

Visited the Oakland tempke during the open house. The fast paced walking tour was rushed! I could have spent ages aborbing the beauty and atmosphere. The visitor center on site is nice and staffed with friendly missionaries who helped us find a quiet spot to feed the baby. There are several child friendly exhibits that were engaging. They also have an on-site family history center.

This building is the prettiest in the bay area, also with the best view. It is a great place to feel peace and joy, unless of course, you are one of those people that say. The Temple is a great place to sit and reflect. Im from New Zealand and had the privilege to serve my mission in the Oakland San Francisco Mission and the Temple was deffs something I looled forward to. Its a place where I found peace just sitting and looking out towards it. Its truly beautiful both inside and out, Great place to find peace within. Truly a light upon a hillThe Temple is very family oriented and focusses a lot on Families, inside the Visitors Centre there is a little tour you can take that helps us, or atleast it did for me helped to gain a stronger appreciation for my family. It also has a Big Christus or Christ statue inside the Visitors Centre which i really appreciated because it helped me to see and feel.of my Saviors love. This is a great place to bring families and even your friends and if you have questions there are missionaries around to help you out. Also a great place for photos!

The temple itself is only open to active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but the publicly accessible grounds are gorgeous, the temple itself is a unique and beautiful building, there is good parking, and there are great views of Oakland and, on a clear day, San Francisco. Worth it for the grounds and the views even if not a practicing Mormon. There is also a Mormon visitors center on site.

If you haven’t been to the Oakland Temple, then now is the time. The grounds are beautiful year round and the Volunteers in the visitors center are more than helpful. If you have questions on the purpose behind the structure and how you can check out the inside, ask the volunteers at the visitors center as well!

Like many who live in the East Bay who are not members of this religious community I had only glanced at the Mormon Temple in Oakland from afar. So when the opportunity came to actually visit and take a free tour of the recently renovated site before the structure is rededicated and closed to non-members once again in June I was eager to take a look inside. My friends, Rose Anne, Rosemary and I visited the Mormon Temple this morning and along with dozens of others on the tour were greeted warmly by volunteers who guided us through a series of rooms where religious instruction is offered, marriages are “sealed,” and other rituals that take place there are conducted. After the tour we admired the well maintained grounds, took in the spectacular view of Oakland and even San Francisco in the distance, and checked out the visitor center, which houses an extensive library where people can do genealogical research. We all asked questions and learned a little more about the LDS Church. It was time well spent.

Even if you arent a member of the church this is a great place to visit, the grounds are beautiful and there is an informational visit center with various displays, interactive media, and people to answer any questions you may have.

Beautiful venue with a very friendly staff that are always very warm and welcoming to visitors. They put on really pretty light displays during holiday season and host musical performances at visitor center. The visitor center is definitely worth a visit as there are many nicely made and interactive display for the public to learn more about them. There is also a beautiful view of the surrounding area from here.

Came here during December when they had Christmas lights set up in the grounds. Very pretty, very calming. If you get here early enough, around sunset, you can get a beautiful view of the bay area. You can go up right next to the temple on the gardens surrounding the temple which is very pretty.

Being a member of this church, the temple is a special place. This temple was just renovated and was open to the public to tour for about a month.This weekend, it was re-dedicated and is now able to resume the sacred ordinances that are done there. Even if you are not a member, I invite you to visit. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, you can see a great view of the bay just from the parking lot OR you can go up to the top of the temple and see the view from their. Its a nice walk around the top as well. The visitor center is open to all with lots of things to do and/or see. There is also a family history center for those interested in genealogy.

They are right. Its one of the most beautiful temples ever. TIP: If youd like to pray there are benches at the back of the temple thats a little more quiet

Absolutely beautiful temple. The water outside made for some nice photos. The visiting center was very informative. The views around the temple are breathtaking but not as much as the rooms inside. It was an experience I will never forget! My 5yr old who is very hands on and cannot sit still hardly ever was so amazed. He just took it all in and did not run off once. After we exited he hugged me tight and said thank you mom for bringing me here. It was a memorable day I will never forget. I hope to go and visit again someday.

Im a member of the church and I come here for all different types of events. I love being here to get away from the stresses of the world and to feel the actual peace it brings.

Nice looking building, but I came here to worship Heavenly Mother and they were all Heavenly Father had instructed us not to worship Heavenly Mother. And I was all like Yeah, and what did Heavenly Mother say about that? Did you even ask? Did you even ask? Because I did, and she told me not to worship Heavenly Father. So who you gonna believe? Then they started in on Jesus this and Jesus that. I told them, Talk to the holy hand, and held my hand up to their faces and they took a step back. There was an awkward pause for a full minute where neither side knew what to say next. Missionary training did not prepare these devout devotees for encountering a prophetess in the flesh. Boo! I said finally, raising my arms over my head. They ran. I shrugged and walked away.

This place is awesome! Stop by the Visitors center to learn more. They are genuine and will take good care of you. They speak many languages.

Visited the temple as part of a short family weekend trip to San Francisco. The peace and reverence felt on the temple grounds was refreshing. The dynamic views of the bay looking back towards San Francisco added to the serenity of the area. I could see the city without all of the noise and distraction while sitting in a peaceful, serene environment. This is a very special temple!

Feels like heaven on the Oakland Temple grounds! Go to the Visitors Center (the building on the right as you enter the parking lot--with the large white Christus), open 9 am - 9 pm & missionaries can tell you all about the site, show you films (I really liked Joseph Smith, Prophet of the Restoration,) answer any questions, & tell you how to get to the roof gardens overlooking the entire Bay Area. During December there are free concerts & performances nightly (dance, theatrical, music), with more than one to choose from. Great place to go for peace & solace, as well as a great place take family &/or friends.

I had the opportunity to visit with family when the remodel completed in 2019. Very beautiful grounds, view of bay and buildings. I do not try to understand The Mormon religion, the church and the dedication that the team putting on the visits had was second to none. Very organized and professional. What a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco! The grounds are absolutely immaculate and also so peaceful with the music playing through speakers along the water leading up to the temple. This is also a spectacular place to get lovely views of the bay, all with free parking! Dont miss the chance to pop into the visitors center to see a beautiful Christus statue and check out one or two of the free short films available in there. Well worth the stop if youre in SF!
