This center does a lot for all of Oakland. It has been THE place for community events, such as the recent Oakland Mayoral debate this fall. It also puts on all kinds of displays, school visits, and is available for special events.

The cultural arts center is where you can experience the history of asian culture from the perspective of the Oakland community. You can experience plays and other social events based on asian culture.

Some homeless guy did a award winning James Brown impersonation and was promptly awarded with a visit from security for disturbing the peace, I had to leave so I did not get to see if it ended in fisticuffs, though he was pretty big with a voice that rivaled that of Morihei Ueshibas mythic roar I doubt such power could match up against what looks like 3-4 security guards on the hefty side.

Presenter talked about tracing his heritage back 5 generations to China. Self produced film was shown with a Q & A afterwards. There was a break and snacks. Enjoyed it. Will look for more events.

I always come here to volunteer always has super cool artwork on the walls. Or if you just want to use the bathroom you can just ask the people are super nice. There are multiple large rooms where different organizations hold their meetings. I know aypal hosts many events here and asian dance. My friend and i used the dance room to practice for a talent show because my friend already was taking asian dance there we used the room for free. I think you might have to pay to borrow the dance room but its awesome. Wooden floors and mirrors very big and spacious. Big windows bring in a lot of light. I also had my school glee club perform hairspray the musical here and i loved it! The stage was small but made it easier and faster to move around from one space to the next. Very good lights and microphones they let us borrow for the show. The backstage area was also very nice where girls and boys had separate rooms to change in and out of their costumes. Can fit 350 chairs I think and the crowd turn out was great. Miss that stage :(. But definitely will be coming more in future for the dance room and other events.

Was here for an event hosted by the Ducal Court of Alameda, venue was lovely, unfortunately the ac could not accommodate the amount of bodies in the space. Being a local from Las Vegas, anytime of the year is cooler in the Bay Area and I was sweating thru my outfit and into the chairs. The staff member that was present tried her best, and it was better than nothing at all

When there during the 2018 lunar new year bazaar. Its a smaller scale of bazaar compared to the one in San Francisco Chinatown. I like it better, there is an underground garage, so the parking is not a problem. Lot of Chinese/ Vietnamese restaurants nearby.

I went here for a sold out event with Eddie Huang. The space is effectively an open room that reminds me of a high school gym (with the elevated stage). The people who worked there were great but the space looked run down.
