As illustrated in the accompanying photo below, those walking past the beautiful Lincoln Center For The Performing Arts complex in Manhattan’s Lincoln Square section during the summer months are treated to the quintessentially New York City phenomenon of New Yorkers, whether or not they had tickets to a performance, enjoying a summer evening reclining in front of the Lincoln Center fountains with the Metropolitan Opera House serving as backdrop. While the Metropolitan Opera (commonly referred to as “The Met”) has been around since 1880, it has made its home at the Lincoln Center Metropolitan Opera House building it currently occupies since 1966.

Beautiful venue for opera, the largest seating of any repertory opera house on Earth. Well run and staffed, it is a pleasure to attend this venue. The performers here are top shelf, drawn from the opera elite. Production values, including set design, are amazing. The Met has earned its well deserved reputation of excellence.

Wonderful performance in Nightly Opera stream of the Merry Widow! But when I saw this performance in 2015 Mrs Fleming sang the song of Vilja. Why was it not there now? It is one of the most famous song in this operetta and of all operettas. I was a bit dissapointed.Did you just cut it away .WHY? Goeran Sundqvist 7 Granitvägen 75243 Uppsala Sweden

What’s can I say, it’s the Met. Not only is the building itself gorgeous, but you’ll rarely find another occasion where people get dressed to the nines to see a show. The experience is exactly what you’d expect from old NY “high art” and certainly does not disappoint. Also, if you’re under 40, there are special prices for tickets that you can grab that allow you to have a free drink or so, plus better seats at that price.

Stunning facility that regularly provides world class opera!! There is such joy for an opera fan such as me to experience the beauty, majesty and virtuosity that the Met offers. We traveled there to see Tosca and what a rare treat. The sets were just amazing like you were right on the roof on the stage when they execute... well, you get the picture. Bring your children and grandchildren to this amazing place for a magnificent musical experience.

Breathtaking views, iconic historical Opera House, globally renowned performances and an exclusive restaurant inside the main lobby (The Grand Tier); this is one of the great opera houses of the world. The Belmont Room is limited to Metropolitan Opera Patrons on most occasions (an extra lounge, bar and ladies room)If you need to use the elevators they are usually very congested so please plan to wait ahead of time.If you need to use the restroom during the intermission you are better off waiting first and then coming back later (seems counterintuitive but if nobody follows my advice it is still valid)

Was here to see Whipped Cream which didnt disappoint! It was such a beautiful ballet. Whole performance was simply eye candy. Balcony seats I found better than orchestra seats from when I saw Romeo and Juliet in the winter. Would totally recommend Whipped Cream but it was only available for a short run. Theater is big but easy to find your seat. Everyone is helpful and nice about making sure everyone is seated before the show. Very clean too.

What can I say except that it’s one of the best opera houses in the world?Great acoustics, massive and (often) sumptuous/creative staging, (most of the time) great cast, and above all, very affordable (standing room/rush/student tickets) and every year it boosts a glorious season of 20-30 operasA must go for music/art lovers traveling here and I have always felt grateful to live here and visit the Met often.

Loved that you can pay and order in advance to skip lines during intermission. WCs are clean and almost enough. A must when visiting New York City especially because their operas are all awesome! I saw Carmen and it was one of the best experiences ever. Tickets are pricey but shows are worth it.

It was a unique experience. It is a big building, well kept, and great acoustics. We watched Rigoletto and I was in love with the passion of each one of the actors/singers. A magnificent representation of the Rigoletto opera with a modern touch. We ate dinner prior the opera at the Grand Tier; the restaurant on the second tier of the building. I guess that deserves another review, but take notes on this: during the first intermission, the waiter places your dessert on the table and it gives you perfect time to enjoy coffee and dessert.Great combination!

Great spot. The entire complex is 5 stars. The underground parking is easy, efficient and worth every penny. The parking staff is friendly and quick. The theaters are all wonderful. Ticketing, ushers and staff are always helpful. A must for travel in NYC. You should plan in advance as it does get crowded for dinner or drinks either in LC or outside. Arrive early. There is security, bathroom lines, and drink lines. If you want something at intermission order in advance. Enjoy the break, have a drink as opposed to waiting in line for a snack and then rushing back to your seat.

Absolutely spectacular opera house, with a most magnificent entrance, of red carpeted spiraling grand-staircases and majestic chandeliers, befitting of NYC.And, I do believe, that I had counted at least six balconies, within the theater. Also, the moving additional chandeliers, and lighting displays, designed for performances, are elegantly reminiscent of classical grand European theaters, but modernly technically operated.I was extremely fortunate enough to attend the performance of Don Giovanni, on my mothers birthday of April 9th, in remembrance of my father Don Giovanni.(Although a completely opposite personality, my father, not at all a Don Juan, of low moral character and abusive corrupt nature with no integrity.)My father and grandfather, both named Don Giovanni, although my grandfathers full name was the most honorable Marshall Giovanni Tartaglia, who was commissioned by the Neapolitan King, to save the lives of Italians and the freedom of all humans before the corruption, of the fascist party take over and massacre of World War II.Both my grandfather and father loved my mother dearly, their entire lives, as their one true love.I wish everyone would have the enormous, golden opportunity, of eternal motherly love, which gives birth to all life. Thus, this is a most majestically magnificent venue, to immerse oneself within the harmony of classical perfection.

Disclosure: Im sometimes paid to work here. Its Americas premiere opera house, and one of the greatest in the world. Acoustically, theres not a bad seat in the house, and the cheapest seats get some of the best sound. Visually, you can be pretty far away, so bring opera glasses (or rent them on site). Tickets can be pricey, but there are options for cheap seats with a lottery as well as inexpensive standing room. Every seat or standing-room location gets its own titles screen, which can be turned off, if desired.

This review will be light on words, except to review Box 12. It contains 8 seats, with steps within the box. The locked Pre-Box Room (foyer) has no steps, is approximately 24 SF, has 4 hooks with hangers for coats, and must be unlocked by an usher. The Tuesday night crowd consists of 2 regulars (1 Silver Fox, and 1 Silver Panther), and otherwise empty seats, and changing guests. Box 13 (which may be numbered as Box 14) by contrast is larger, has a better view, and takes up a curving point, giving it an airy feel.

Definitely worth a visit. If you are a New Yorker, this is a must at least once. Get there a little early to take pictures. It gets crowded very quickly. There is a restaurant inside and snack bars. I would suggest you do not seat in the boxes. When they state that the view is obstructed, they mean it! The boxes are small and tight. Not worth it. Seat somewhere in the middle even if its in balcony. The snack bar is super expensive so eat before going. Its a long show but there is a break. I love that they have translators on every seat. Its pretty cheap, starting at 30 and goes up depending where you seat.

Not much to say about The Met, besides the fact that its beautiful and wonderful place to be. Nevertheless, when you see a show, use the restrooms on the lower levels since they are less crowded. Also, pre-order your drinks for intermission before the performance starts. Also, if you are ok with semi partial view, sit in the Family Circle boxes. Well, the Metropolitan Opera is a grand and exquisite venue to see a performance. The seating options are vast with lots of price options, but I dont think there is a bad seat in the house. Even being way up in the family circle, we could hear everything perfectly. Couldnt see faces well from up there, but nothing about the story or set was lost or minimized by our seating option.I was a bit disappointed with the price of their house wine being $27 per glass at the concession stand and the fact that we were rushed out of the bathroom after the show.

We enjoy them greatly and are currently enjoying the on-line streamings at home during the suspension of the previously announced programme. We were very pleased at the prospect of this evenings live performances from around the world and so it is with great regret that we have to say how disappointed we both were with the quality of sound. It ranged between poor and dreadful for most of the items in the first two hours and after that we switched off. Among the few exceptions were the orchestral items and the violin solo, the Meditation. We warmly applaud the idea of the live event but the technology let you down very badly indeed and served the artists very badly.
