Any tour to the heart of jazz in Harlem must include this place. The bar in big and it probably accommodates 30 people seated. There are more tables but I always recommend to be at the bar. There’s a small stage where great shows happen most night every week and they are one of the few places in Manhattan where you can find Hammond B3 organ. This is a classic spot with more than 50 years of history, and in that little stage great names of the jazz music passed by like Sara Vaughan, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, And others.

Absolutely charming. No frills jazz players giving it all they’ve got tonight at the Showman’s Jazz Club with a saxophonist, pianist, drummer, singer and trumpets!I suggest you to only order drinks from the menu! Margarita was super on point @ $13. Long Island was $14, beer was $9.To enjoy this music on a Wednesday night starting at 8:30 requires guests to purchase at least 2 drinks. Chic-herons and hot dogs were complimentary and on the house.I’d come here again to enjoy great music!

Greats including Duke Ellington, Pearl Bailey, Lionel Hampton and Sarah Vaughn have played at Showmans Jazz Club, which opened its doors in 1942. Since relocating to its current home in 1998, Showmans has welcomed musicians such as Nathan Lucas, Danny Mixon and Preacher Robins, who have dazzled on stage with the in-house Hammond B-3 organ. Keep in mind there’s a two-drink minimum per person, per set.

The combination of a $10 cover charge, 2 drink minimum per set, and a jazz band who veered more to jazz funk meant that we had an uninspiring evening... there are better clubs in terms of music and value for money. On the plus side this small venue on West 125th St is conveniently located and has a good atmosphere.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and forever will, if you want culture great music and AMAZING home cooked soul food you have to come here. I admire that the owners (Ramona Lopez & Al Howard) take time to actually run their business instead of just letting managers and other workers take care of things they put their all into their business and after so many years of marriage and Ive heard the stories its such a home feeling and just its amazing no about of words can describe how great it is you just have to go check it out for yourself !!!!

Let me be clear:On a past of four years in New Orleans and visits to Chicago, Montreal and San Francisco, Miami and other urban hubs, showmanship at SHOWMANS IS AMAZING.The owners endeared me to the place the band is amazing and the guest vocalist was a virtual and slightly revived Neville (AARON ....may god be my witness). I had birthday and cake and free offered food as well as companionship from folks out for a night of jazz and r and b. I will return and I will bring folksof any age, color socioeconomic bracket and national origin, because this is true America and New York life.

The club is really nice and the band were great, but the waitress was so incredibly rude and obnoxious to us from the moment we arrived that it completely spoiled a previously very pleasant evening, and she also overcharged us for all of our drinks($69 for 2 waters, 2 beers and 2 bad cocktails). So even though its a nice place, I wont be back.

If I could I would have given 0 stars: 2 drinks minimum and they dont tell you the price and it makes sense: 8$ for a 33cl bottle of Becks and 12$ per cocktail, which are in my top 2 of the worst cocktails Ive ever had (whisky and ginger & gin tonic). Music was OK tho but nothing crazy. Avoid at all costs, theyll just rip you off with mediocre drinks...

I didnt expect racism from my own Harlem neighborhood historic jazz bar. I tend to go to Showmans every four years when my family are visiting for the holidays. I went there this time last Friday after Thanksgiving with my mom, dad, wife, and sister. My mom is 70, dad 65, and sister 50 years old from North Carolina. My wife and I are Both 49. We found an empty table in the middle. There was only one other empty table right beside us. The black waitress did not say hello welcome to Showmans or anything, but said, there is a two drink minimum! This I already knew from the past. A few minutes later a group of five white people sat at the empty table beside us. This waitress didnt mention two drink minimum to this group!! I asked this waitress why did she not tell them two drink minimum and she said, they are foreigners and did speak English. I asked this group how were they enjoying the show and they spoke in English. I left with my family immediately. Then I noticed we were the only black people inside this hot steamy bar. The two waitress were sweating along with the patrons. I asked the so called manager or owner if she could lower the heat because everyone is sweating and she said, there was nothing she could do!! This is the oldest trick in the book, turn up the heating so people will buy more drinks.
