This is a beautiful space! Id even go exquisite and with a lot of amazing ambiance. Foods excellent and we saw Jeff Goldblum do his show here which was great. Weve seen a lot of jazz performers here, too, the setting is old school and you really feel like youre part of the old in crowd when youre here!Im a little of a drink aficionado and the drinks here are absolutely delicious. Get a dirty martini if you want my advice - they are great here!

If youre looking for an unforgettable experience in New York City, look no further than The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel in the heart of the city. As a travel destination and entertainment critic as well as a wedding / event organiser this sophisticated hotel with top-notch music events at the Cafe Carlyle and the Behelmans Bar are our No. 1 recommendation. Just dined at the Cafe Carlyle while being entertained by Cheyenne Jackson. A spectacular event and an entertainer of extraordinary talent. Now thats put New York City top of our list of destinations! Music continues after 9.30pm until midnight with Chris Gillespie and his Jazz Trio at the Behelmans Bar - huge talent and widely entertaining. A vibrant atmosphere in the Bar, wonderful people and great hospitality. Well done! Woody Allen and his New Orleans Band on Mondays…what a treat all around!!

If you want to pay $75 for outback steakhouse food this is your place. It is absolutely pathetic. I paid $59 for steak and fries that shouldve cost $12 at the most. I paid $19 for a slice of cake that was one of the worst slices of cake Ive ever had. They called it flourless chocolate cake...should be called FLAVORLESS chocolate cake. The bread was the only good part. Drinks cost $20 plus. Tables are so close together and cramped that the waiter has to come and move tables around for you to go to the bathroom. They have a $75 food and beverage minimum. They make you tip the waiter and the captain. The only reason they are not getting one star is because the performance from Hamilton Leithauser was amazing. Id be okay with paying the exorbitant prices for an intimate concert experience if the food was halfway decent. People need to stand up against this madness.

I live near the hotel and am a regular for a reason. Its fabulous. The decor, food and service are excellent. The entertainment is always amazing. I see some negative reviews but they all seem to refer to the pricing in relation to what they received. Its expensive and quality is always expensive. Ive travelled the world and this place, where Café society flourishes is definitely worth every penny.

Fantastic! The food, service, and entertainment excellent. The only complaint I have is if there is a dress code requiring gentlemen to wear a jacket, it should be enforced. I saw three men having dinner wearing just a T-shirt. One was even wearing shorts. Not a good image.

The drinks were superb as was the dinner. Many who have visited here already know this, but be forewarned that this is a very costly outing but, in our opinion, well worth the expense. This is a truly NYC experience that everyone should have at least once. It was such a memorable time that we plan on going back. On another side note, since this was a birthday celebration, we didnt necessarily choose the venue. I did check to see who was performing that night and it was Steven Page, formerly of Bare Naked Ladies. I didnt know a great deal about the band of his solo career but we were thoroughly entertained with his performance so all in all, it was a great evening fill with great food, drink and a wonderful intimate show. I can;t say enough great things about our time at the Cafe Carlyle.

Bemelmans bar is truly iconic and should not be missed whether or not youre a fan of the Madeline books. The bartenders are always pleased to make one of their signature drinks - my favorite is the mojito - and, if youre lucky, as we have been, youll get a glimpse of Woody Allen acting like any other New Yorker.

I am a little surprised how few reviews this high end restaurant got on Yelp. I realized when I dined there. We were surrounded by rich and old folks! I suspect they even know what Yelp is?! But anyway, Cafe Carlyle deserved a great review because the service is superb and the food is excellent. My husband and I came here for our Valentines Day celebration and it is definitely a romantic and upscale restaurant to take your sweetheart to. The interior decor is expensive looking and the wait staff is all running around trying to please customers. I noticed a lot of older rich folks dining and talking business.I started my meal with jumbo shrimp cocktail. There are about 6 on my plate and they are very fresh and tender. My husband got the steak tartar and it is unique and very tasty. I have never had a beef tartar done this way but it is amazing. For entree, I got the lamb chops and they come with this awesome sauce on the side. The chop is cooked to perfection; it is tender, juicy and fatty. My husband went for their lobster dinner and it is a full size big lobster cooked in butter sauce. We were both really full after entree. Still, we went for our dessert to close the dinner on a high note. I really like my berries crumble; it is slightly buttery but fruity. Therefore, it is not overly sweet and heavy. My husband tried the creme brulee and it is a great choice too if you have enough room for it.We ended our dinner happily and glad we discovered the restaurant thanks to TravelZoo coupon!

Really enjoyed Molly Ringwald. She spoke to her audience and she connected well with her musicians. She was entertaining. The Cafe Carlyle dinner was very sub-par and tasteless, yet expensive - a forced minimum price for food and drink made the total experience additionally disappointing. My entrée could have been a small plates or tapas-size serving - it certainly was not an entrée portion with only 3 medium-sized scallops??? Ridiculous for the prices on the meal, and the grit in the scallops made it feel as though I got them from a street vender. The lobster in one of the signature dishes (also way over-priced - it was mostly pasta) was so tough and tasteless - it seemed it had been frozen again and again. The drinks were good - also expensive - but then most club drinks are in NYC, so no surprise there.

When you think of the Carlyle you think of high class, high brow jacket eating style and service that should be top notch. We went for the Debbie Harry show which is classy already. The dinner show required you spend at least $75 dollars before exiting the curtain doors. I figured that shouldn’t be too hard to do here. While excitingly waiting for Debbie to come out to enchant us with her voice the meal was like an expensive amuse bouche. I got the roasted chicken and my two friends got the steak. I also started with the shrimp cocktail and everyone else got a house salad with 3 cocktails. The cocktails was not bad. The shrimp cocktail looked a bit sadly plated with 5 ‘jumbo’ shrimps. While I know it is only the café, it could have been at least presented better than the diner on 10th Ave for $26. My roast chicken was super moist and tender at $39, I hope the chicken had a enjoyable life prior. Able to wander free range in the fresh air of Murrays Farm upstate NY before becoming dinner on my plate. The whole 8oz Beef Tenderloin coming in at a whopping $48 was like a Wendy’s commercial of where’s the beef and the 3oz $16 green salad plate looked like it came from the 9oz $3 dollar salad bag at Whole Foods. The $17 New York Cheesecake was well cheesecake. We could barely get water at our table which we asked for 4 times and finally just gave up. I know, this review is beginning to sound like the Visa/Mastercard commercial. And yes, when the lights dimmed and Debbie took stage and spending time with friends was priceless until we got the bill.
