The Gorse Mill Studios building is nestled in a quiet neighborhood of residential homes in Needham Heights, Massachusetts. Although convenient to reach from Route 95 (or Route 90), you may not spot this marvelous artists resource until you are almost on top of it. The appealing and unexpectedly large (though almost hidden) structure is that of a former textile mill built in 1893. It was reborn as Gorse Mill Studios in 2009.To quote the brochure, Gorse Mill Studios is a non-residential community of over 20 artists, specializing in pottery, glass, performing arts, painting and graphic design.I visited the place for the first time in February of 2020 on a sunny Sunday and spent a rewarding couple of hours viewing the current exhibit, Etheric Studies by Anyah Lee Suderman (in the Gorse Mills Gallery). There were interesting conversations, talks and ... refreshments! This oasis is a greater Boston area destination! And Needham itself is alive with the arts and creativity!
This is a great little Studio with a gallery and periodic shows of local artists. Painting, drawing, and pottery are some of the talents of the residents here. If youre in the area its definitely worth stopping in and seeing if theres anything displayed in the main room. Its always fun to see the talent that exists locally.
