Great place to learn and become a member of the community. Whether its day 1 or year 20 there is a lot to learn from the collective of artists here on campus!

I appreciate the arts and am really glad this place exists. However, I was very disappointed in the sculpture class. The class was not very structured at all and not the best sort of class for beginners. There were 14 people in the class. That would have been fine had everyone been doing the same thing. However, it was set up as an independent learning environment and it was really hard to get Nan’s attention. Once I finally did her attention, she created half of the sculpture for me with the clay I had bought and then just had me attempt to copy on the other side. I did not like this as she seemed almost condescending and didn’t want to take the time to go over multiple ways to teach me myself. She spent most of her time with more experienced sculptures. I think the instructor is a very talented artist and is very nice to talk to about her history in the art community. I don’t like her teaching style though and I will not be coming back. I work in IT as an analyst and am used to thinking out of the box, but the way this class was set up was way too overwhelming for a beginner and the instructor didn’t address concerns in a constructive way. I will not ask for a refund as I think this place is a great staple for the community. I just think that The company should be more descriptive of the website of the class /teaching styles when it has beginners in the class.

What a wonderful place! Clay Supplies, Pottery Classes, Workshops, Artist Studios, Retail Galleries and Events. I brought a High School Art Club to see this Nashville Jewell. While we were there, The Clay Lady was hosting a hands-on field trip for over a hundred 4-5 yr olds. It was exciting to see that her passion for teaching has only grown as her experience and influence in the art community has expanded. Her enthusiasm has helped many young Artists find their love of clay. I highly recommend you make a visit, take a class... you might just find, or create, the art piece youve been looking for.

I cant begin to say how awesome the entire campus and its activities and lessons are. My only problem is I have so much fun that I dont want to go home and leave my wheel! Danielle and her staff are so very kind and patient. Trust me, I am pottery wheel challenged and Danielle is the perfect teacher, and fun to be around too. There are lots of activities too - a progressive dinner though the artist studios is one example. There are a never ending list of classes for other types of creativity - I took a fused glass class and made a sun catcher that my mom loved.Just cant say enough good things about the people and the facility. Classes book at lightning speed, so call at the first moment registration opens. Also consider adding Open Studio to your class - the price is fabulous and you can work 10-2 every Saturday to get your clay fix!

Absolutely incredible place!!! All of their events they hold, charities they take part in, employees they have, and the services they provide are extraordinary. The owners really appreciate and take care of their employees, and make sure they’re a priority first as well. They care so much about each of their artists that rent there, and throw on so many amazing events throughout the year for them. Danielle and Tammy are phenomenal. You won’t regret taking a class here !

Taking pottery classes at the Clay Ladys studio has been such a wonderful stress reliever for me. I had been considering it for a while when a friend bought me a gift certificate to nudge me that extra step to sign up for my first session. Im so grateful she did because its now something I look forward to every week. I work all week long sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Then, for 3 hours each week, I am able to escape and create pottery with my hands and my imagination. The folks in the sessions with me are so friendly and Danielle - the Clay Lady - is a great teacher. She teaches with patience and expertise and is always so willing to go back over the material when a refresher is needed. Love it!

The Clay Lady Studios and Mid-South Ceramic Supply Company are both great businesses run by great people intent on teaching and inspiring you on how to go about finding your way with clay. Just being on the campus is inspiring! I recommend challenging yourself to receive the good that is offered there on Lebanon Pike. You cant go wrong.

My children have been going to do The Clay Lady projects for about 12 years. Every single time, I promised that one day I would take a grown-up Clay Lady class. For Christmas this past year, that is a gift I received from my husband. It may be my most favorite gift, yet! I am now in my 3rd session. Danielle is an incredible teacher. Whether you are creative or not, you will leave this class believing yourself to be the artist that you are!Definitely recommend The Clay Lady for adults and children.

I simply cannot tell you how The Clay Lady and her Artist Co-op have impacted my world. As a creative mom, I took a wheel class with my 16-year old son...and at the end of a delightful 9 weeks, neither he nor I were willing to wait for the next session to begin. So-ooooo, I became a co-op artist and have a studio there on campus. To say that this has been an encouraging environment would be an understatement. As an artist, I have found a home and a co-op family. I find inspiration walking through the galleries on my way upstairs to my studio. I am encouraged with every greeting and chat with other artists as well as with the many visitors to the campus. I am challenged to go to the next level and find the help I need to do that.Really, you just need to stop in and taste.Still cant believe I am a part of this community....

My mom has always wanted take pottery classes so a few years ago I bought her a 9 week session at The Clay Lady studio for Christmas. I decided to take the class with her and we both ended up falling in love with pottery and the studio so weve been taking classes there ever since. We take class on Wednesday nights because thats when Danielle McDaniel (the Clay Lady) teaches. Ive heard the other teachers are also great but we just love Danielle. Shes an amazing teacher! Shes patient and supportive and you can tell shes really passionate about what she does. Its been awesome to see how successful the The Clay Lady campus has become over the last few years. It now includes the studio where classes are held, the co-op gallery where artists sell their work, and Studio B where artists can rent studio space. Also on the campus is a supply store, Midsouth Ceramics. The staff at Midsouth is terrific! They carry a large selection of clay, glazes, and tools. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I go in there. The staff is very knowledgable and able to answer all my questions. The whole campus just radiates positive energy. I highly recommend going there and exploring all it has to offer!
