One of the most important cultural organizations in Montgomery, Alabama! Bringing priceless plays & culture to our capital city and our children! My only complaint is their recent political leaning when all we want to do is escape today’s political climate. Instead of seeing more plays about today’s issues (which I won’t pay to go to) I hope they help us escape into stories of the past, adventures of fantasy, stories of interesting lives and the every important works of Shakespeare! I look forward to taking my grandchildren and keeping this family tradition alive!

Good time for a good price. I went to see The Cat in the Hat with my wife which is a strange thing to see at a Shakespeare themed venue. (I cant wait for Green Eggs and Hamlet) Although it was a short play geared toward children, we enjoyed it. The cast did a meet and greet after the show in the foyer. Parking is free and convenient. Staff helpful and polite.

I knew from photos that this place was gorgeous outside, but I didnt realize that it was attached to a park. It was much bigger than I expected. Everywhere I turned was a new delight, from the fountain to the beautiful doors to the statues of children climbing a tree. The play was also unique in that they played clips of interviews on old tvs from people who had been in concentration camps, but they also had actors reenacting scenes in between.Afterwards, they had a discussion about it for those who wanted to stay for that.It was a lovely experience. Well worth the $30 ticket. I cant wait to go back!

My friends and I have had many opportunities to see plays in both the Festival and Octagon Theaters. Both have comfy seats, just not much leg room. There aren’t really any ‘bad’ seats in either. There is ADA accessibility throughout. The restrooms are ample and kept clean. There are beverage/snack bars available, and a gift shop. The grounds around the theatre are well kept and a joy to ride through.

Last Sunday my husband and I went to the park to take professional pics for our 5th wedding anniversary that is coming up next month. We were invited in to a display by the museum. Not 5 mins after we were about to take pics, we were approached by a security guard that told us no professional pics allowed. My problem with this is, no signs were posted with this information. We were also told wed have to contact someone to pay 100 to take professional pics there. Ive never heard of such foolishness! So if my photographer had pulled out her cell phone, would that have been ok? Shes still a professional photographer. Here I was thinking this was a public park. Next youll be charged an admission fee to walk thru there!

What an amazing find. We attended the performance of All is Calm in the Octagon theater which was amazing. Beautiful facility and ample parking. A Christmas program was going on in the main theater and was well attended. Our performance was amazing and would rival any Broadway production. The setting, singing were incredible.

This is a great place to visit. The museums curators are very interested in the work they do. When it comes to children, they adjust very quickly to the needs of each child. The activity room is always ready to lend a helping hand. However, Dont take my word for it,check it out for yourselves!

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is one of the crown jewels of the city of Montgomery. Its truly a place within a space that is all its own. Whether you wish to laugh, cry or be exited it provides it all. The huge land mass is the perfect environment for long walks, class trips, group get togethers. The talent on the stage is absolutely top shelf and always brings their A game. The festivals diversity represents the tapestry of the worlds humanity. It teaches history and with the Southern Writers Conference paves the way to tell our future.

I prefer to see plays in the small Octagon theater where the cast is so close you feel like you are in the story. The larger theater is also good for large audiences. Regardless, the Players always seem to get you in the audience involved in some way.I recommend planning your day around seeing a play here. Visit the museum before or after the show, and also dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in the area.

Wonderful show! Great cast.... pulled the audience of children in, and kept them enthralled! Not an easy task with our students! Bravo! Kudos for the Ice QueenAnd THIS bench in the gardens behind the theater.... is where my sweet husband proposed to me. It was broken then, and we jokingly call it our broken benchLOLBut I come here to take our childrens pictures here on it every year, we take anniversary pictures on it...every year. It holds a very special place in my heart.

Enjoyed my visit here. We watched Sherlock, which was a great performance. The performers did an outstanding job. I also enjoyed the Q&A session they held afterwards while we watched them set up the stage for the next show (the Tempest). Very interesting. The park surrounding the theater was nice. Inside it is small but not overcrowded. They allowed drinks (wine!) inside the theater which was nice.

A stellar performance by the cast together and individually! The theater-in-the-round concept was awesome. So appreciated the set and costumes - great 80’s detail!Big NO-N0: About 30 minutes into the production the staff seated 6-8 late-comers in the 3rd row! It was a HUGE distraction to ASF-1st timers-from Birmingham who were seated directly to our left. I cannot fathom how distracting it might have been to the actors. These Season-Subscribers are looking forward to September. Thanks for a great evening!

We thought the acting was SUPERB and the story beautifully told. We found seating guests on the stage distracting and unnecessary, and we didn’t like that much of the dialogue in the third act was given while the actor was pretty much in the dark - we also found that difficult to process. Otherwise, we loved it! Thanks for asking.
