All of the reviews saying this place is beautiful are well-founded: its a medium-sized, very pretty pond with nice facilities and pretty views. However, it is quite crowded. However, if you leave the area around the parking lot and follow some of the trails, its quite nice.

The pond has nice picnic area. A good place for fishing and walking!

I had my first experience walking around houghton’s pond in the blue hills reservation the other day. My friend and I kept remarking on what an undiscovered jewel of a place this is. At one point one of the staff walked up to us and asked if we needed help. We were admiring the the architecture of the rest rooms facility. This young man proudly told us that he was the seasonal manager and how happy he has been in that position for four years. He hopes to work his way up in the program. He enthusiastically told us all about the facility and park area. How important it is to keep the park clean and welcoming to people. He continued on with more accolades and proud comments. He was grand. Wish we knew his name. He brought joy to our day.

Great place... only had time for a quick stop but so much to explore ill be back!!!

When u dont wanna drive 15 miles to Nantasket Beach, this place doesnt disappoint! My son loves it here!

Very nice place to hangout with family. Plenty of parking & space. You can do barbeque here. They have grill installed or you can bring your own. Also this place is really good for swimming, specially for kids. The pond has long shallow beach, so kids can swim up to the middle point of the pond. This place has bees, if you bring something sweet or even if you keep your soda open - bees will gather around.

If you wanna have a good day..its perfect. For kids...for dogs...

Always a great place to visit every year

DCR area. Very well maintained. Closes at 8:00 pm. Main bathrooms next to the beach open from 8:00 am till 5:30 pm. Swimming and fishing are very popular all summer.

This is a beautiful place to spend your weekends. There is a lot of activities you can do there.You can do a barbecue in one of the picnic placesThere is a beautiful playground for kids.The swimming area is fantastic.And there is a cafeteria where you can try ice cream hot dogs and others snacks

I havent been to Houghtons Pond in a very long. I was actually there with my class for a picnic. I plan to go back to take a look around since I didnt have anytime to do that. Lots of happy familys enjoying a hot summer day with warm breezes by the pond.

The Blue Hills area is awesome. Great to walk your dog or just hike. The short walk around the pond is great when cold, otherwise you can spent hours in the woods if you desire more. Good destination for a nice Sunday walk.

We went on a great hike/walk around the lake, the water was great. Crowded in the swimming spot but peaceful everywhere else. Plenty of picnic spots and free parking/bathrooms.

Great place I’ve been coming here since I was young I found that parking was rough and the water was not deep and swim area very packed but no matter I liked being there it was fun so I’ll rate it 4 stars for the overall experience because I do like this pond a lot just today was packed

I love this place. It has clean bathrooms and I wash station. I like that they have the grill area separated from the beach area. It’s more like a pond but it is absolutely beautiful and everything is clean. They have great lifeguards on duty and everybody seems to be having a great time. I like that they have both the water and the trail walks. For those who don’t prefer bathing in the sun.

What could I say? I love this place. This place has everything. The scenes are beautiful. I love the little bit of wildlife that you do see here from the frogs to the turtles. This place gets busy in the summer time. With the beach. Its best to get here early. Especially around memorial day July 4th and labor day. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes peace and quiet

Beautiful place, has nice a deck with shower and restrooms. Also food within the park.

What a great day

Great area to bring the kids for a short nature walk (about a mile). Beautiful shaded trail. Bathrooms are clean. There is one at bath house next to a small beach and one next to picnic area. The pond water is very clean with lots of small fish. I also see a couple baby cat fish. There is life guard on duty during the day and many families bring kids there or simply getting a sun bath. There is also a playground next to the parking lot. Parking lot fills up quick on weekends so plan to arrive early. Many people reserve picnic area for parties and BBQ during summer months so you will need to plan ahead.

Nice place for family get together. Swimming area is also there. Try to carry your own food. Parking is not big. During good weather parking gets full before 9am.

Nice area close to the playground. We went to the beach and saw ducks and horses on the way. Nice walk and people were very friendly. Bathrooms were clean.

Place looks nice, except for the needles on the ground that were probably used by drug addicts. Not a good place for kids, dogs, or anyone really.

Get here early! This parking lot fills up fast, especially on nice days. The park is lovely and totally worth seeing, but be prepared for a madhouse of a parking lot after 10am.

Good place to have a loop around the lake, about 40min. Water is very clean.

Easy or difficult trails to choose from. Hundreds of people here but you only see others occasionally out on the trails. Definitely take a few visits to see it all.

It was refreshing to be able to cool off in the pond after our hike up the back side of Great Blue Hill.

Good for families but... Show up early if you want to have a parking spot and if you wish to swim freely then consider another venue- cause here the swimming is restricted to tiny and dense part.

Great place. Beautiful, especially in the fall.fun playground, perfect place to let the kids run and have fun. A couple caveats ... I wouldnt go here after 2:00 or on the weekends in the summer. Daytime is ok, especially the mornings but I wouldnt bring my kids here on a weekend in the summer.

Lovely pond with an unpaved trail of approximately 1 mile around it. There is a marsh area on one edge with boards explaining local wildlife. Picnic tables are also nearby.

People have died in this pond. Not sure why its still open to the public.

Beautiful location with lots to do. Hike, swim, grill or use the athletic fields. There is lots of parking but if its a nice weekend, going early will ensure a spot as it gets packed

Really nice place, the problem that I found is the parking situation, the main parking lot its super small, you can parked in the street but just in one side, they do plenty of handicap parking, but theres a need for more parking lot, or a least the ranger should let people parked in both side of the street.

Beautiful place where you can walk, run, relax, fish and more. Picnic areas, playgrounds for kids and easy trails in the woods. Near towns.Some parts are very muddy but you can avoid it going a little bit off track.
