Some cool hikes lead up here. The tower itself, however, is underwhelming and crowded. Nice views from the top, but otherwise Id recommend the nearby weather station instead.
We hiked to Eliot Tower & the weather observatory from the ski area parking lot. It was good to get out early as afternoon highs reached the mid-90s. Anyway, four people and 2 dogs had a great time. The trails were in very good shape and other than a fair amount of litter, it was perfect. We started around 8 and there was very little traffic for the most part. The trails in Blue Hills have loads of intersections and therefore provide lots of options -- Id venture you could never hike the same hike twice there so even if your destination is the same peaks how you get there can change from hike to hike. Its easy to overlook theres such a great outdoor resource so close.
There are multiple paths you can take to get to the tower, each one harder than the other. Do not let that intimidate you, because once you get to the tower and climb its stairs you will have an amazing view of the entire Boston area.
One of my favorite parts of the whole Blue Hills area, Eliot tower is a great place to stop and rest in the middle of the skyline trail. Great views out of the tower, nice atmosphere. Definitely stop here on your hike!
Nice breezy vista point after a short hike. Very easy and convenient access.
Its a great hike getting there. The views are amazing!
Beautiful VistasCan see Boston from here.
Great trails! Feel the burn!
Excellent place for hiking. Many trails with varying difficulty.
Great trails leading to the summit. So much to explore and experience.
Fantsstic day walking the hills around Eliot Tower. If you are using the many trails in the area it can be difficult terrain and I would recommend good walking boots. You can also access the tower by car. Great views of Boston from the top.
This is where you get the picturesque view of the Boston skyline. Go up in the tower!
Great view and a variety of refreshing hikes for all difficulty levels.
Great views of Boston! Beautiful foliage in the fall
This is virtually the same height as the summit, Eliot Bridge rebuilt (restored) a couple of years ago, and the hut of the tower was reshingled with marvelous slate. Looking to build a fire in fireplace if chimney is usable, tho it says no fires. I wonder if it got any use in olden days or decades past. Some will place their kids to sit on the ledge of the tower, you watch them.
Great views on Boston and surrounding towns on a clear day!! Fun!
Pretty decent hiking place.. We hiked on snow but it was worth it .. Can be sloppy on snow but proper shoes will do the job
Great trail with many routes to occupy your whole day
The stone structure at the peak has an awesome view. Great hike although very icy in the winter months. Would reccome d bringing shoe treads to make life easier.
Excellant hike for all abilities with the best view of Boston and the harbour island!
A little crowded for my taste, but there were a lot of dog friends
Nice views of boston. Good hike. Cool history. Lots of trails. Great walk during nice weather. Benches and tables. Water fountain at I Love Blue Hills selfie station.
Great view of Boston from inside the tower. Lots of bang for your buck considering its so close to town...
Love the view from top of the tower !
Absolutely gorgeous view!
This is a reasonably challenging hike depending on your route and fitness level. The view is fantastic. In terms of timing, youre looking at about 20-45 minutes from the park HQ one way to the tower.
Just sit up there after my long runs put my smooth jazz on and think about watever i want kepting those thoughts fun will help
The Elliot tower isn’t as nice as the observatory, but it’s always open and it’s free. The views of Boston are pretty impressive. You can also see the Boston Harbor and maybe, on exceptionally clear days, places further. We went on the clearest day in a while and saw Monadnock. The trail to the top is a little steep and rocky, but my three year old was able to make it on her own. It’s perfect for kids. They also allow dogs so you tend to see a lot. There’s a road that you can walk up if hiking isn’t your think. The short trail from the end of the road (at the observatory) is flat.
Very great view from every angle.
The pics speak for themselves!!
Great little hike that packs a challenge for beginners. The tower and view are well worth it. Definitely check out the weather station -- especially if you dont want to.
Nice hike and now reopen from roof work. Nice views of Boston
Great views. Free parking. Whats not to like??
Nice
Good place for a quick rest before moving forward on the trail
Few mosquitoes, wonderful hike. The trees and moss were vibrant green and the smells were fresh and natural. It was a wonderful escape from the city. The only drawback was a cell phone tower at the top so I couldnt ignore my email.
Nice view of Boston and has easy and harder trails leading to it. Family friendly
Great hike for a family with pets or young children
The best view of Boston Harbor and of Boston skyline for pictures. Also, not a hard hike on certain trails.
Fun hike!
Great views. Great hiking pit stop.
Fun lookout
Cute lil fort. Me and my boyfriend love it. The sunsets are so beautiful from the top
Great view of downtown Boston after a short hike. The tower is elegantly constructed with old world charm.
This is an easy trail that still offers a city view and a look at the skyline. The best time to go is the fall, but this short hike would also be really great during the winter. Ot is kid friendly and dog friendly as well. If the trail is too rough for you, you can pick up the access road part way through.
Close to Quincy and beautiful
Amazing view of the city from the top of the building!
Awesome place, thank you!
Good spot and a lot of history to it
My first choice place to go for a walk with the dogs and child whenever I get a chance. I drive 45 mins to get there and love it like its the first time every time. Highly recommend this trail. Clean, easy to navigate, friendly people, pet friendly.
Great views of Boston. Now the tower is open once again.
This is located at the peak of Blue Hills and has some great scenery for pictures.
Great place to hike
One of the highest points in the greater Boston area and a wonderful view. Highly recommend it, any season as long as the weather is clear.
The hike up to the tower is a great workout for beginners the trail is high and known as the skyline trails from the trailside center you can hike 30 minutes up to the tower on top the view of Boston Massacusets and the surroundings is incredible recommend water and good shoe or sandle no flip flops lots of big grey boulders and really clears the mind note this tower can hold around 4 groups of 4 comfortably and is recognized as an important land marking bye the town of Milton so keep it clean. Please come check this out.
I thought it would have a better view. Still a beautiful hike up here!
Good hike but not the best view.
Its a great place to have a conversation, a date, or a nice hike alone to clear your mind
Beautiful views. On a clear day you can see really far into the distance. I would definitely recommend.
Love it
Great spot to get away from the city and enjoy some time off work
There are some great views, and a variety of hikes to get there. Something for every skill level!
Well worth the trip up any of the trails to get there.
A fun quick hike, beautiful.
Favorite hiking place in the Boston area. Nice view of the Boston skyline (Prudential Building, Hancock Building) and Massachusetts Bay. Good hiking trails, excellent trail markers.
Offers a great hike to get to the top of Blue Hills and the scenery is very nice. A little cleaning would help but highly recommended.
One of the better views of Boston skyline observed from here.
Nice view of Boston after a 2 mile hike
$3 up the tower and $4 for a tour. Amazing view of the city and Massachusetts as a whole. Wonderful staff and great candy - your be crazy not to do it! Id recommend taking the skyline trail here from the camp parking lot. The trail is challenging but its so worth it.
This is a great spot. Nice halfway point to stop on the skyline loop
A great hiking spot!
Great view of the city and a fun short hike.
You can see Boston from there. Beautiful place
Short hike to a beautiful view of the city.
Best views of South Boston
It takes a bit of effort to get up there, but otherwise the view is pretty good. The Boston skyline is a bit far away and not so visible, even with clear skies.
Awesome views from the top of the tower! All of the Blue Hills, plus clear views to downtown Boston and the harbor. Just watch your step on the stairs up. They are very steep and the stair railing is low
Nice place away from Boston city. Hikes and places around this area are really happening destinations during summer time
Rewarding views for a short hike over the hill top. On a clear day you can enjoy the refreshing breazes to cool you down, see Boston city, Boston harbor, all harbor islands and even mountain ranges in southern NH. A small down side is that too many people leave their names or ugly carving everywhere on the wall or even under the roof.
Gorgeous view of Boston. Lots of picnic tables!
