Always a favorite spot both for birds and just overall scenery. It can get insanely busy in the summer with beach goers but one youve been here its easy to understand why. There is a little island people walk out to during low tide when the sandbar is exposed, Ive never done it as it is dangerous if not timed perfectly and during nesting season its off limits due to being a sensitive wildlife area. I would not recommend walking out there as you dont want to be that guy that has to get rescued (I hear about this happening at least once a year).

I have never had such an amazing experience of sunrise at a beach!! My first hand experience and it was definitely worth it. Loved how peaceful the beach was. The colors of the sky was breathtaking! The reflection on the beach was jaw dropping! I guess I am out of words of how wonderful my experience was!! I would highly recommend this beach for sunrise !

Gorgeous beach. Clean sand, clear water. The boardwalk is brand new, long, with beautiful views. Bird watches would love the area. So much wild life to observe. Such a great and safe place for family to come and spend the day.

Excellent beach! Very clean, a lot of lifeguards. The sea was calm and especially during the low tide it is ideal for the kids to play with the sand. It has restroom and water to wash your feet. There is a nice greek grill nearby, so we enjoyed our dinner by the sea. Highly recommended! We had to pay for the parking since we were outside of CT.

The beach is great with a view of Charles Island, out to which you can walk at low tide. The beach is a little rocky, but otherwise typical for aCT beach. The five stars are for the new bathrooms and other amenities which are the best Ive seen at a CT state beach. They are brand new and fantastic with multiple family changing rooms, rinsing areas and clean bathrooms. Like, sparkling clean.

The road was blocked off to traffic into the main parking lot all summer long into Walnut Beach. There are certain areas that fill up fast nearby that have small shops. The hotter spot is a short drive near Milford Hospital to a great little sandwich shop. Slightly pricey but the sandwiches are awesome. Met the owner who allows parking for bikes and cars directly outside or in the back lot as long as youre a customer, rather than for beach parking. Because its so close to the beach the eye candy is unbelievable.

Such a beautiful place to walk or enjoy the water. You can enjoy sand dunes and walk out far. I recommend water shoes here. Some areas once in water are fine but lots of shells, snails, small crabs and other fish. Ive gone without but I prefer the shoes and definitely for the kids.

Very nice and peaceful park. Maybe due to covid, the park is not that full. Quiet and semi secluded place. You need to come here early to try to cross the sand bar by foot to the other island that’s on my picture.Another plus is that the park has reasonable amount of portable restrooms to accommodate personal needs. Went hear just a while ago where mid may breeze is really something to savor before the scorching heat of summer.

Nice clean and comfy beach Area. The place is semi secluded now In pandemic. The main bridge which connects to the beach from park is closed, so you have to follow silver sand pkwy to go the beach. The Park has lots of parking space available. Enjoyed the cool breeze just before the sunset.

Love this beach! The water is clean and I love that its not too deep so the kids can have a blast in the water and the sand. The beach is shelly/rocky, so water shoes are recommended, but its clean and always a good time. Also when the tide goes out, the hug sand bar is a fun walk and the tidal pools are great for sitting and playing in the dirt.

Loved my experience here! Very clean water and beach area, trash cans available, restrooms available, picnic tables available, clean water and sand. Just a bit rough as far as the sand goes as there were a lot of shells in the sand. So peaceful and loved that it was FREE to get in. Plenty of parking and close to restaurants.

I came here on a Saturday morning and there was plenty of parking available. The beach wasnt too busy and there was plenty of space for people to lay out. I noticed there was a decent amount of garbage in the sand however. Despite that it was very pretty and the boardwalk made for a nice walk. There arent any showers or restrooms, so important for anyone who is looking to have those!

This beach is okay. Its shallow for many yards out. So its giid for swimming. It is very rocky. You will need water shoes. I had water shoes but the man next to us didnt and cut his foot. Also, there is no shower on the beach or boardwalk, just a low pipe to rinse off feet. The water didnt smell great and was far from clear.

Review №32

This is a truly unique place. If you expect the stereotype vacation beach experience you will be in for rude and eye opening surprises. A normal beach area exists but its likely narrower than what youd want. Grasses, rocks and crushed shells take up a fair share of shoreline space. The general park area tends to be more salt marsh than a place you can walk around and explore. On the plus side you would use the long board walks to cover the ground between parking and shoreline area. Although this is likely the identifying trait for this beach, an island is visible and can be reached via solid ground at low tides. If anything, this should satisfy the explorer in you - but beware this is not permissible for a good part of the year due to conservation use.If you enjoy things like photography and nature, this is a decent place to visit as youll have more to engage you than a swimming beach that loses appeal fairly quickly.

We had a lovely time, we stayed safe, social distancing. The water was so refreshing and with low tide, not deep at all..my only minor complaint? The multitude of sharp-ish shells and Rocks underfoot as you walk towards the water. Unfortunately, being a state park, they dont machine rake through the sand to get rid of all the natural debris.

Expensive to park as an out of stater, and not much to see. Not many trails for hiking, and couldnt get to Charles Island even at low tide. We ended up just wandering along the beach and into some nearby towns.

Its okay but the beach is full of sharp rocks. Lots of people not obeying the rules. Also, I like to hear the sounds of the beach, not someone elses music or the f word repeatedly. A nice beach to visit while on the shore. There is an island across the water that one can almost get there during low tides. We love Silver Sands, but only when there is bad weather or during the cold season. Indeed, in the summer there are too many wacky old people, btw 55 and 85 (and above), going around almost naked or only scantily dressed. What a complete lack of realism, self-awereness & respect for other people! Its a horrible spectacle that you cannot unsee...

Im not a beach kind of guy so my rating not comparing it to other beaches. its base on the time me and my son had together walking on the beach, trails and the sandbar. watching him enjoining himself on the sandbar is a 10 star rating. walking picking up seashells and feeding the birds was priceless. swing in the late night warm water was the cherry on top. people are pigs. in the parking lot the trash cans were overflowing was what to they do throw it on the ground. not the parks fault but the brainless lazy ass people. so if you are one of these type of people go to a public pool. thats were you belong the beach was clean.
