My second time to tour this historic studio. Sun Studios claims that it is THE birthplace of rock and roll. There may be some that disagree, but it is not hyperbole. If youve never been and you are even slightly interested in the subject matter, this is a MUST SEE! The staff here was super friendly and made you feel like you were family.I lucked out and got Zach as my tour guide. There were maybe ten others on our tour. Zach was funny, informative and had some great stories. Everyone on my tour seemed to be having a great time. All pandemic protocols in place. Priced right. Great folks. Incredible history.

I went to Sun Records with average expectations and, Ive got to say, the tour overwhelming exceeded them. Having worked at Universal Studios Florida as a Jaws boat skipper (back in the day) I know that the right person can make or break your experience when youre visiting a tourist attraction. Our tour guide, Graham Winchester, exhibited an honest-to-God passion for everything he showed us and talked about during the tour. You could tell he was invested in the stories and the importance of Sun Records as an integral piece of rock n roll history. My only concern was in regards to capacity. I feel that they were more people on each tour than there should have been while operating in the midst of COVID-19. It was very hard to maintain social distance effectively in such small areas. Aside from that, I highly recommend making the time for this if youre ever in Memphis.

Such a wonderful experience full of history and amazing stories. The studio itself and Sams booth are relatively untouched since the 1950s, and an original mic used by the likes of Elvis and Johnny Cash is there for photo ops. Our tour guide, Drew, was great and exceedingly entertaining.

This was a long overdue bucket list item for me being a lifelong fan of the early Sun artists. It was incredible to stand in the same spot where so many pioneers of rock n roll stood while they made history. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and you can tell everyone who works there is passionate about the music and the history of Sun. It’s a must see while in Memphis.

One of the great locations in music that has to be visited even if just once. Lots of history happened there. So much to see and the tour was very informative. The place is small and yet so impacting on music. The only issue I had was that it always seem like the kinda place that once you see it once, there isn’t much reason to go back.

It gets 3 stars just because it is a highly sought out tourist attraction with interesting pieces of history. However the building is extremely stuffy and not as well lit as it shouldve been. The tour guide while he was knowledgeable wasnt exactly making the visit there as fulfilling as it couldve been. The experience was very lackluster.

Let me say that this is a MUST when in Memphis. I missed out about 5 years ago when I should have come here. I made up for it this time. So much history here. So much that shot out of this tiny studio that launched a musical revolution. I knew who came through her, but I didnt realize the stories behind those. I stood in the same spot Elvis Presley stood at when he recorded his first hit. I held a lead mic that all those that recorded there used. I stood behind a piano that The Killer put a cigarette out on the keys. I heard original recordings. I heard music pumped through that tiny recording studio. Just so much to learn and see and feel in this tiny studio that started it all. And Tiffany our tour guide was awesome. Again, this is a MUST stop.

I was thoroughly impressed with this tour. So much Rock and Roll history in one little place! A very reasonable $14 ticket to do this. Our tour guide was fun and informative, I think her name was Lana (sorry if incorrect!). She had really corny one liners throughout the tour that were actually endearing. Thanks for the great tour! The story of Sun Studio is fascinating to listen to and backed up with a ton of vintage equipment, letters, 45s, pictures, and show memorabilia. If you are a guitar, blues, or rock and roll aficionado, this is a must do! There are between 12 and 20 vintage guitars on site. The story of Sun Studio is entwined with the early career of Elvis Presley. This history is fun to hear about but I wish there was more on some of the lesser known stars from the 50s and 60s. Howlin Wolf, BB King, and Roy Orbison could use a few more mentions. I also think a listening area would be a great edition to tour. This tour was still good enough to go back to next year when Im in town. The tours begin every half hour from 1030 to 530 most days, if I remember correctly. This makes it easy to fit into your day and its just five minutes from downtown. Thanks for the great time! It reminded me of bass playing days when I fell in love with Rock and Roll (back in the 80s). See you next year!

Very interesting tour of the studio where Elvis originally began his recording career. They have maintained the historic quality of the studio and even have the actual recording booth with the original equipment right down to the acoustic tiles used during Elviss recordings. They have original music by Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and others. You really learn a lot about Elvis and his early days. They have even rescued the original DJ booth where the singers were interviewed and their albums played on the radio. The tours begin on the half hour and last about 45 minutes and tickets cost $16.00. The only negatives are that the tours are packed and it can get extremely warm in the building. There are also 2 sets of steps that have to be navigated. Another interesting fact is that Sun Studios is still an actual recording studio and you can rent the space for 5 hours at $1000.00.
