I knew this project was ongoing but I was in total awe as to the size of the sculptures. It consists of 3 Native Americans, a woman, an elder, and a man who will be portaging the canoe over his head. Work is ongoing. The pieces will be cast in bronze and placed on the shore of Lake Michigan between Manitowoc and Two Rivers. The artist, Skip Wallen is originally from Manitowoc. His massive sculptures appear in many other places including Alaska where he now lives. You can view the gallery by appointment or when there is an open house.
