Family-friendly hike in Malibu. The trailhead is located right off the PCH, next to Malibu Seafood. It’s $12 to park in the small lot, or you can find free parking along the PCH. A porta-potty is available by the trailhead. Though short (~2.5 miles), it’s a nice trail and pretty popular among families with young kids. The trail is exposed with no shade. It’s narrow and there are lot of tall plants that scratch a bit, so you may wish to wear pants rather than shorts. There is a gradual elevation change, but not challenging. There is a point at the hike where you can veer off path, but that’ll take you to a different trail that’s considerably longer.
Great location, clean and clear path. There’s no maps or directions but google maps shows the main path that is almost 3 miles but you can choose 2, 3, or 4 miles path. There are a small parking lot and you have to pay cash but you can park in street too that’s free. After hiking you can enjoy the good seafood place next to the start point.
Corral Canyon trail is a 2.5 mile loop trail which switchbacks through the coastal shrub above Malibu. The trail begins in the parking lot adjacent to Malibu Seafood. Parking is very limited and requires $8 fee. You can park on PCH but this can be difficult to find at busy times of the year. The trail crosses a small creek at the beginning, which was nearly dry when I went in July. The trail itsekf is hard-packed soil. The trail climbs to several hundred feet in elevation above the coast, providing an excellent panoramic view of the coast. A reasonably experienced hiker can complete this hike in under an hour. It offers enough challenge to rate it an easy to moderate hike.
We didnt hike it this time, we were at Malibu Seafood which is adjacent to the trailhead parking. Its a steep hike, fairly well maintained with great views.
Awesome loop trail. Great ocean views.
Great sea views and nice breeze. Well carved path, moderate hill climb. No shade or trees.
Good fire road trail. not much parking.
Short walk up the hillside. View from the top of the Pacific Ocean below is breathtaking. Could be windy and dusty so be properly suited up. Trail starts at the parking lot of Malibu Seafood Patio so you could get their famous fish and sticks after your hike. Or go across the highway under the bridge to enjoy the ocean.
Beautiful (mostly) easy hike along Creek. But theres lots of poison oak! Must wear long sleeves & long pants. Also be prepared to cross creek several times! Theres a waterfall at the end, after a half hour hike.
Great views and various length loops. Interesting lilies and other post-fire wildflowers. But you have to push through the poison hemlock canes that crowd kilometers of paths.
The trail is badly maintained and has become overgrown with tall dry grass. There are parts where the trail is partially washed away but the big drawback is the tall grass that scratches you, blocks your view and feels like a fire hazard. Hopefully there will enough rain to transform the trail and the rangers will do a bit of maintenance.
Beautiful scenery
Enjoyable hike with beautiful views. Unsuitable for children and most dogs.
One of the safe place to walk maybe
Has a lake up here, nice breeze
Decent hike. Bad trail and pretty barren landscape. Also dont climb up or down that crazy slope
Too good of a trail to miss. Adventurous for beginners.
