Great place for relaxing. Lots of rocks! There is a small hike for the beach access so make sure to wear good shoes for the traction. The parking lot is good enough for 20 cars, which is good because that makes the place not too crowded. $10 all day parking or $3 an hour.

We’d been going to El Matador for years until Instagram ruined it. La Piedra is much better for the bigger beach and less amount of people. The hike is a little steep, so be careful. There’s rocks in the water too, so it’s not the best for body surfing. It’s great for relaxing!

The pros is that there are not a lot of people here, and everyone is pretty spread out. Cute little tide pool area. The cons is that the beach is covered in ants no matter where you sit, and they will bite you. Not the best views.

Weve been coming here for years and the beach is beautiful and peaceful. Its not crowded during the weekday, but weekends are full by noon. People tend to spread out and keep their distance anyway. The water is cold, as you would expect, but still fun to play in. The parking lot fills up by mid-morning and the portable toilets are gross. I dont think they clean them very often. On this particular occasion, trash was everywhere in the parking lot and the toilets were stacked high if you know what I mean. Super gross!

Its a nice spot for the locals to explore. Has a small hike for the beach access. And a not so popular beach side makes it a great spot to hang out in these times.Has a nice bench spot for a great picnic/meal with uour family. The beach has a decent parking lot with space for about 15 cars. Pay station based parking model. The location doesnt have any restrooms though. I think i did spot a porta-porty, but that is it.

Private and beautiful. You will hike down steep stairs then youll end up at a ladder. Wear good shoes for traction. Be sure to leave the beach at sunset or youll be in the dark and high tide.

La Piedra is a great park to go hiking and get a view of the Pacific. Make sure you bring comfortable hiking shoes, as the trails can be steep......but it’s all worth it once the view expands and you see the ocean. Here is a good hint.....go near sundown. But leave yourself enough time to get back up to the parking lot before the sun is fully set......it gets really dark and thee is no lighting.

On Sunday Mornings, My family and I used to bring Starbucks to this park and pitch a blanket on the edge of the cliff (bushes hide the path). We would see families of Dolphins while gaggles of noisy green Parrots would squawk by and the sweet smell of the sea air was overwhelming. Walking down to the beach is a short walk but worth it, especially at sunset. Good times.

Went around sunset on Saturday and we had the beach to ourselves for a while. Laid out a large towl and watched the sunset while eating some fresh cherries. (Sub for some other easy to eat fruit if theyre not in season) We like to watch all the models and their photographers chase the sun as it disappears.

A very nice secluded beach, one of the three adjacent pocket beaches that are part of the California state park system. Its basically a goat trail down to the ocean from the parking lot (you have to pay for parking, or will get ticketed), but once you get to the rocks and sand you can take a long walk at low tide. I suggest not going very far if the tide is coming in, or you could get stuck (or very wet) and not able to get back to your car in the parking lot. There are no amenities here except a nasty looking portapotty

Tried to go to El Matador beach (again) and ended up at this beach instead after seeing it on the go-around looking for parking. While the former beach was so packed they blocked the parking lot, this one had tons of open spaces both inside the paid lot and right next door on Hwy 1. At high tide when I was there about a half-mile of beach is accessible - I assume at low tide you can go further. Only about a dozen people down there on a Saturday. Great area.

I love this place! Not too many people out there. Its not the most accessible. You have to walk down the bluff but there is a path and stairs. Dangerous if its raining though. The beach has lots of rocks which means lots of tide pools. Really fun for seeing cool sea creatures or collecting shells.

Its not easy to get there. You need hiking shoes for sure. Its not kept up, there was seaweed all over the sand, EVERYWHERE. There was even a washed up seal carcass decaying on the rocks. It is fairly remote so not a lot of people. Overall not worth it for me, too much of a struggle just to get down there.

Really quiet beach. We were the only people all morning on a Thursday and just a few more people showed up in the afternoon. A group of workers were building a new trail down all day so it looks like itll be a little bit easier going. Dont plan on bringing anything more than you can carry though as it is still a steep and narrow trail. Parking is $10 all day and if you arent up for the hike theres a really nice bench at the top where you can still enjoy the view.

A beautiful small beach! Warning: access to the beach itself requires a short hike that could potentially be very difficult for an old or infirm person. The access path I used ended in a wooden ladder which would have been difficult for me to descend with my bag of beach gear if I hadnt had someone there to help me.

The beach is rocky and super difficult to actually get to. You have to hike down a small path thats covered in plants and weeds and finally come to a death trap of a ladder that is just as sketchy as it looks. If you have kids, I definitely wouldnt recommend this beach, also I wouldnt spend the $9 parking here, Id go find another more accessible beach.

Its a bit tricky getting down to, the trail is behind the porta-john, and quite steep at the beginning and the end but it was definitely worth the short hike. I went on the 4th of July and there was still room in the parking lot, which will cost you $10.00 to park in till sundown (7:50 pm or so in the summer) when the lot closes. If its full theres usually plenty of street parking. Its a beautiful beach.
