This is the park by my house, so its dear to me. Its also got some serious breathtaking views like Dolores & Buena Vista, but they dont have a wall of parking built around them for the tour buses. It can get windy here in the afternoons due to its hilly nature. They have a cute little garden area where old shoes & boots are filled with plants, I just love that. Theres also tennis courts and a puppy play area.
Still close enough to the ocean that its not too hot to hike in during the summer. Several hiking trails are available. Picnic tables are located near the entrance along with running water. Saw only hikers and horses on my hike today. Small parking fee. This the time of year for rabbits, lizards, snakes, and some birds.
We love this park but it is closed due to fire damage from Woolsey. Appears to be so indefinitely. Would have been nice to know before driving an hour to get here. January 2020.
This is an amazing Park truly takes you back to Nature beautiful hiking trails and of course an amazing ocean view it is a little rural make sure you bring plenty of food and water but a great experience a true getaway for the ultimate hiker
This was the BEST hike in Malibu. Does anyone know if/when it might reopen?
Looks like interesting place. Unfortunately, it is closed after the fire.
Theres plenty of parking split up into two lots. You can pay $4 within the park or park for free on Encinal Canyon and walk about a quarter-mile to the parking lot. The trails were well signed, although there are not mileage indicators on the signs. The bathrooms were relatively clean and the views were spectacular once you cross the meadow. This is a easy to moderate hike suitable for families with small children. You can even use a jogger if youre not afraid of a moderate incline
Charmlee offers a fun hike for the adventurer at heart, as well as beautiful views and scenery along the way! Our team loves this spot!
Probably one of the more beautiful and easy hikes Ive gone on in the Santa Monica mountains. and they allow dogs just please clean up after yourself to keep this amazing place pristine for every e else to come and enjoy.
Beautiful views and tons of intimate trails. Spring is the best time to see lushious greenery and some wildflowers. Hikes are short so its great for all ages and the entire family. Ocean views are beautiful. Bring lots of water in the summer
Make sure to lock your car doors if parked on the outside of the entrance! Our car was broken into while we were hiking, even on a busy day it can still happen. I recommend placing all valuables left in the car inside the glove box and lock it! yes our car was locked but still got broken into. kinda ruined our day even though the scenery and hiking trails are fantastic. still one of my favorite places to hike.
I really liked this one. Awesome views of Malibu, pretty oak groves and a nice meadow. I went after the rains and it was all green. Some hiking web sites only gave it 3 stars, maybe it was too easy? I wasnt expecting much and was surprised. I liked the botney and lower loop trails.I did it as a change of pace to my normal 5 mile morning walk. I loaded up the GPX file on my watch and just started down the trails. I managed to easily string together the little hikes into a 5 mile hike with a 1000 feet of climbing. You can make it shorter too. I think its a great starter hike for kids or people just starting out hiking. Make it a picnic, take a seat on the bench by the reservoir and enjoy a sandwich, cold water and beautiful view.
Great hiking trail with amazing views, and dog friendly
Great hikes. On my way to personal fitness. Wonderful place to be with friends. As a beginner, we choose a easy hike. Great evening views of the city.
Enjoyable mid March hike. Not crowded. Nice overlook of the ocean. Blooming flowers. Tall green grass. Relatively easy hike with some small elevation changes. Recommend bring a small sack lunch and enjoy the day.
This park is so pretty. A variety off plants, rocks, ocean view. Its magical.
Peaceful and scenic. Hiked for 3 hours and didnt see anyone else. Beautiful place
Absolutely amazing place to hike and see panaramic views of the ocean! Never crowded, I love it!
Very quiet and empty...park ranger and one other vehicle on a Friday afternoon...think he was checking on the toilet paper supply...else good trails for a brief hike... BYO food and drink... would recommend being with another person
Nice scenery and great for day hikes. Trails are pretty distinct so bringing the kiddos shouldnt be a problem. Recommend for a nice day outdoors.
Well maintained trails and beautiful views. I wish more cars would pay the low parking fee, support the park if you enjoy using it.
Fun place to hike with spectacular views of the ocean. Easy hike for the most part unless you decide to access from the océan.
Always love hiking and exploring new trails. As long as our dog is happy, we are happy. Love Malibu and the views of the vineyards.
So many trails. Beautiful views. Dog friendly
Easy hike, great view of the Malibu coast. Parking is only $4. Bathrooms are dingy.
Easy hiking and great views! Charmlee is kinda a secret spot since its so outa the way...
Great hike and breathtaking views. Only drawback is no shade, so be prepared for plenty of sun!
Best hike in LA. Wonderful Nature Center. Cute picnic spots to the left, past the main area under the trees
Parking is not free. Beautiful beach views, not many trails. Dogs are welcome
Go here at the right time in spring for great wildflowers and gorgeous hiking.
Beautiful place. dog friendly too!! wide trails and very low attendance so its very accessible
Beautiful views. The trails can be tough for a beginner so plan accordingly.
Gorgeous place with trails winding all over a gorgeous hillside on the coast! Nothing too strenuous just be wary of Insects!
Awesome Park.Great for biking, hiking picnic etc........
Lots of pretty flowers and lots of bugs. Not a tough hike at all. Great views of the water.
By far my favorite hike I got to do in California. I will miss the ocean overlook view here. Hopefully one day I can make it back.
Parking is $4 dollars, was busy on Memorial Day weekend, but everyone got a spot. Check out nature center for maps and trails.
What a lovely place
You can stay in ur room and lock the doors or u can see a view that is so majestic you wont be able to help urself from grabbing your phone so u can take a picture so u can remind urself that there is an escape from the mundane life of city inhabitants.
$4 to park here. A short trail takes you to a bluff overlooking the ocean. Take a photo of the trail system before you head out. Basically head south to the bluff.
Such incredible views. I make sure to go on this hike every time I visit the area.
Nice easy hike with great views.
Nice, short, beautiful view filled trail.
A perfect hike on a perfect day.
