Excellent little theater for local play productions. Currently a pay what you can for admission with donation options to go to either the theater or the actors. Madison is lucky to have something like this in its community and Id highly recommend going!

Just saw the play Half and was so impressed - wow!!! Sean Langenecker was supremely entertaining and high voltage the whole show - no LED light bulbs here ; )The rest of the cast was amazing, and the many and intricate set changes were quick and 98 percent seamless : )Hope you get a chance to see this show at Broom Street Theatre!

We went to their Hamilton show based on a play from 1917. It was a great show and we were so glad we went. We are definitely going back!

I saw the Widowmaker and really enjoyed it. Its a tiny venue run by volunteers, and their passion and enthusiasm really comes through in the quality of the acting and the production. I will be coming back.

Broom Street Theater is a nonprofit, member-controlled art space dedicated to promoting new, experimental, avant-garde works. What it may lack in contemporary accoutrement such as automatic soap dispensers and a lobby to speak of (the theater is situated in a converted auto body garage), BST more than makes up for by attracting Madisons most passionate and talented artists to create edgy and interesting original theatrical works.Pro tip: If its your first visit here, give yourself EXTRA time before the show (BST is confusingly nestled just off the eastern side of Willy St - across the street from Amoco, between Mother Fools Coffeeshop and Weary Traveler). There is no dedicated parking, and no lobby, so once the show starts, the door is locked and youre out of luck.

Nice, cozy, little theater. Its their 50th anniversary this year and its pay what you can to see shows, which I thought was a cool idea.

A true local Madison theater, great place to see a play with local writers, actors, designers, and crew. I have also seen standup, sketch, and improv comedy here, as well as live music. Cool little bare-bones black box space that seats about 50 audience members. Tickets are only 11 bucks, great deal for unique live entertainment. Very queer-friendly. Takes cash or cards.

Extraordinary local theatre that almost always presents original works. Honestly, the quality varies greatly from show to show. But its cheap theatre (usually $11/ticket), and you can bring your own drinks in. If you have a spare evening and want to take a chance on a show, I recommend it!
