This is a great spot! I love that they rescue animals and provide a safe haven for them. While its difficult to see these amazing creatures in captivity, this place takes on animals that can no longer be released back into the wild.Ive gone twice and the first time I paid extra to meet with Lola the sloth. The second time I met with the fox - forgot his name. I wish it didnt cost so much to have personal encounters with the Bobcat :(((((

Very informative about the Jewish experience.. Its a nice place to spend an afternoon. Great place for a family outing. There is an art studio for projects for kids. Its well worth the twelve dollar admission. On Thursdays its free. Or free with a Bank of America card on the weekend. Parking is about $15.00 During the summer theres music or dance or storytelling events. Theres a small indoor snack area where you can buy sandwiches, salads and snacks or you can bring your own food and enjoy eating on the patio. There are several with lots of shade for a hot day. Its really nice. I highly recommend it.

We came here for the childrens exhibits. The Noahs Ark section was amazing. There were so many things to touch, climb, and enjoy. We also enjoyed digging for buried items in one of the many dig sites on top of the museum. Finally, we made a craft in the craft room at the bottom of the museum. We briefly saw some of the other areas outside the childrens section. All the exhibits were interesting and educational.

A fun place to check out when in the Skirball Cultural Center area, especially considering its free. If you come, you must come at night to get the full affect of the artwork. In terms of parking, you could park in the museum parking after 7pm. Although as of 5/2017 theres a bunch of construction around that area and the streets were blocked off at night so we had to park a few blocks away.

Woke Black Folk is a phenomenal one woman show, and the Skirball was the perfect place for it. The centers grounds are super chill, clean, and inviting. The cafe was a welcomed sigh of relief as I headed straight (with an empty stomach) to the event from work. I loved the ambience of the place. And the theater was just right in size. I enjoyed my time there, and may go back during the day just to enjoy the grounds and eat at the cafe.

I went here for the first time last year for the Jim Henson exhibit. This is such a charming museum, with the nicest staff (literally it’s like being greeted by family, everyone is so warm and welcoming) they have a court yard and a little cafe. Seems like the perfect place to go with kids (they have a Noah’s arch exhibit that is geared towards children) this is down the street from the Getty, so when I visit one I usually visit the other. If you are taking public transportation, they can both be reached via the 234

It rained a lot the first two days that we were in Los Angeles and a lot of things to do are mainly outdoors however we did find some very enjoyable things to do indoors too. We found this beautifully built Noahs Ark @skirball_la. Many of the animals are built using recycled materials like old whisks, keys, pots, gloves, shoes, bags etc and Hazel honestly had a blast! Theres books to read, animals to touch and play with, instruments, handles to turn, sensory sounds, climbing ropes, bridges and lots of running space. Also every Thursday is free at this centre for everybody

This is really nice place .features a museum with regularly changing exhibitions, film events, music and theater performances, comedy, family, literary and cultural programs. This place includes a museum, a performing arts center, conference halls, classrooms, libraries, courtyards, gardens, and a café.According to wiki The Skirball Museum predates the Skirball Cultural Center, having been established in 1972 at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in L.A. The Museum moved into the Skirball Cultural Center after the centers completion. The Skirballs core exhibition, Visions and Values: Jewish Life from Antiquity to America, traces the history, experiences and values of Jews over 4,000 years. Featuring changing displays of works from the Skirballs museum collection, the exhibitions galleries contain multimedia installations, rare artifacts, historical documents and photographs, works of fine art, interactive computer stations and sound recordings that lead visitors on the Jewish peoples journey, culminating with their experiences in the United States.Comprising more than 30,000 objects, the Skirballs museum collection includes archaeological artifacts from biblical and later historical periods; Jewish ceremonial objects from countries all over the globe; an extensive group of Old World Jewish objects; the Project Americana collection, comprising objects that document the “everyday life of ordinary people” in the United States since the 1850s; and works of fine art in a variety of media

Such a hidden gem that alot of people I dont think know about! We went on a Thursday during free admission day. We arrived around 11:15 to get inline for the ark tickets. We bought a lunch so the kids could sit at the tables while we took turns as adults standing in line. Tickets opened up at 11:50ish. We got into the first group! But even if you dont you can do the other activities first. The kids loved all the interactive play on the ark! Such a fun experience. We will definitely be going back. 1.5 hrs was plenty of time to hang at the ark exhibit. We then went to the dig area. Which was well organized. Then went to the craft area. Which I m not sure is always opened but you can check ahead of time. After that the kids were done and we left. Also parking is free so this place is a win win! Little bit if a drive from OC but definitely worth it if you havent been!

Awesome place for children to play and discover. Before entering the Ark play area they have a short story about Noah and the Ark. There is a front area where kids can play with toys and roam around the ark and then the back of the building children are able to climb up and down. They give you 90 minutes to be inside which is plenty of time for kids to explore.

I honestly had no clue what the Skirball was before I paid my first visit this past week for an evening event after work. I can’t comment on the aesthetics of the complex since I was only there after dark but definitely need to plan a return visit during the day soon. I attended a podcast taping and all in all the Skirball made for a very easy and enjoyable experience. Easy to navigate in and out of the parking structure, hassle-free parking, easily found the auditorium with the help of the friendly staff, and check-in was a breeze. Coffee shop-style refreshments were available beforehand but there was no food or drink allowed in the auditorium we used so I’d ask an usher before buying anything you might not foaming before the start of your event. A great experience and an enthusiastic shout-out to the staff who, in my opinion, made the experience with their cordial helpfulness and refreshingly friendly attitudes throughout. I’ll be back for the RBG exhibit!

Visited the Skirball CC for the temporary Jim Henson exhibition - and what an exhibition it is! A true masterpiece with wonderful features (including many original puppets), video excerpts from many of Hensons works, and insights into the behind the scenes of the creative process and bringing to life of the Muppets.Staff are friendly, and the many volunteer guides are always there to point you in the right direction if youre a little lost. The signage in the centre isnt the greatest, and particularly on a Thursday (when general admission is FREE), the museum can get very busy and chaotic. Best to turn up particularly early on a Thursday to beat the rush and enjoy the exhibits at your own pace.Aside from the Henson exhibition, the Skirball also hosts a permanent exhibition on Jews in the US, their cultural impact, the hardships of settling in the US, and the like. A very informative and interesting collection. Well worth a look.
