Lockhart State Park has great hiking trails. Today was my first time and when I checked in the staff were friendly and helpful. I have always used the swimming pool but it was closed this summer. However, there are beautiful trails, campsites and a golf course for your outdoor pleasure. Come in and check it out!! Remember to pay your $3 pass online before you come.

Really nice small state park close to Austin. We went there for the weekend for our first trip in our new camper. We picked it because it was close to home if anything went wrong. When we arrived the power was out to several site but not ours so it was not crowded.Numerous hiking trails, lots of nature, clean bathrooms and a nice river. There is even a nine hole golf course within the park.We had a great time with the exception of the heat but it is August. The camp host Chris was excellent. He, his wife, and children all came by and introduced themselves and were a very nice family.I would definitely recommend this park. It is a hidden gem.

What an amazing petite State Park in Lockhart! Has a lot of short/small trails for the beginner hiker or adventurer or for leisure hiking to get out of the city and away from the hustle and bustle of daily life as well as a golf course for those that enjoy the sport. Small creeks and some small bodies of water but none that you can really swim in. CCC Trails and great for Mt. biking.

Based on camping/day pass, it is a relatively a small park. The trails are nice but short. It would be 5 stars if you are using all of the commodities including the golf course. The park is well-maintained and the trails are taken care of.

It doesnt worth to spend 1h+ to get there from Austin. The trails are short, and you cant see many interesting things. The restrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. This place is nice for the picknicks, not for hiking. However, it is easier to make a reservation for any day comparing with other state parks.

This is a nice smaller state park with some cool history for the area. We hiked the trails which took us around the park and were fairly easy with the exception of a few spots where there was a steep slope. We enjoyed reading the informational signs along the trails.

Lockhart State Park is a smaller hike with around 3 miles of total trails. It was interesting to have a 9-hole golf course right in the middle of the park. It was a nice clear day with some pretty surroundings. It wasn’t crowded either which was nice. The bathrooms, however, were locked but there were plenty of trees that needed watering. :)We saw 4 baby armadillos and some fish in the river and overall it was a pretty tranquil hike.

So this was the only state park that had open days to visit! The trails were pretty and well maintained. They’re short and easy for beginners. You can’t really swim in the creek, but you can sit and chill in it. Unfortunately the pool was closed, but there were picnic areas! Happy I visited

Another great state park to spend a stress free afternoon in. We loved the small waterfall and the CCC rock bridge. We came in February, but got to see this is somewhere we definitely want to come back to in the spring when all the bluebonnets are blooming. We saw several of the plants all over the place so no doubt its stunning then. But we enjoyed a few hours here and will be back.

Nice little state park! It has some small trails and golf courses. The total trail length is around 4-5 miles and I found their challenging trails to be easy (they were mostly uphill but not rocky). The trails are mostly shaded, so it’s an option on a sunny afternoon, but avoid it after heavy rains due to the muddy terrain. Overall a nice one time visit !

The shining light of our visit was the friendliness of the staff. Prior to visiting we were unaware that the park was attached to a golf course. This is the reason for 3 stars. If you have younger children there are some fun activities. The small stream has some fish in it and it wasnt crowded.

Yes! Do this place, so much more than just a golf park or camping area. The trails are wonderful, and the terrain is actually quite unique, with excellent variation in elevation and flora, for a plains park.

What a great little Texas State Park! I dont play golf but if I did my visit would have included a 9 hole round! There is not a whole lot going on in this park besides golf hiking and the swimming pool. My site was so level ! the sream that flows through the park offers up the possibility of catching a fish or two.I have posted a video tour of the park on my YouTube.... DudeRV.com

Nice little park with shaded trails. The water is stagnant in most places right now so I wouldnt say Id swim in it. There were a few places where the muk broke though and I could let my dogs cool off which is what I wanted most.Pool closed for covid, pretty small anyway. A few snacks and drinks available at the HQ. HQ bathrooms were closed but the camp ground one is open.

Staff is always looking for people who want to listen to info about their park; and if you are that person then let them tell you! It was nice to listen to what they had to say, I remember there are lots of events at this park and almost everyday there was an exciting time we could go and learn more about the area while having fun in the park. Took the puppies, AS ALWAYS, and they had a chill time walking even though the creek was a little stagnant they went in and didn’t get sick. I figured the staff would have wanted us if there was a potential risk of blue/green Algae in the creek.

Since it was Mothers Day we ate at Mr Taco in the morning. Delicious. Only downside was the camping area at this state park had one shower for the women.
