Looking for great red rock views without hoards of people? This is your place. We came here a couple of days after visiting Garden of the Gods. If you have to pick one, I would come here. There are awesome red rocks and we barely saw anyone.Covid-19: it costs $9 per car to get in. Its taken by an employee at a booth. The employee was not wearing a mask. Luckily after that, we barely ran into anyone. We hiked the Fountain Valley Trail which was a little over 2 miles and easy. It had really good views of the red rocks. There is very little shade so it was very hot when we did it.It doesnt seem like theres a ton of trails at this park, but I definitely think its worth visiting.

An incredibly manicured park and wonderful place to hike. Being right up on the red rocks is breathtaking. Carpenters Peak can be busy and folks may opt not to wear their mask so be careful. The peak offers an amazing view.

Roxborough is very nice. Never been here before. My son discovered it. The limestone are amazing and good history of the park. The trails are great and some are longer then others. Bring water and walking sticks with you. The sticks not only help walking but protect you from mountain lions! Of course very rare to even see one. Take the family and go for a stroll. Smooth enough trails for strollers. Enjoy!

Beautiful state park with lots of varied trail difficulty and ease. I could see parking as a challenge if you arrive after 9a. But heck, this place is well worth it! Small price for a day pass when you see a doe running through a field with her two fawn... The park ranger on duty in the Visitor Center was so helpful and passionate about the right hike for us and what to enjoy along the way.

Great easy hike to do with the family. Decided to go here based on a hikes near Denver search and it did not disappoint. Beautiful rock formations and views. We only did one trail. It was very accessible and looped around. There was a little bit of mud in spots but nothing too difficult to traverse. I would recommend checking it out! There is also a nice visitors center with restrooms right at the start of the trails.

Great park to trail run and hike. The South Rim Loop is a nice 3 mile to run or hike with decent inclines and declines. Carpenters Peak (moderate to slightly strenuous) is 3 miles to the top and you can choose to trek to the top of Waterton Canyon and go down that way (6 miles) or hit Federal land to backpack, camp, or go back to the Rox Park visitor center the way you came. Go early if you can on the warmer days (opens at 7am).

Really beautiful state park. Really close to Denver. I stopped 2 hours before sunset and went exploring few overlooks on the Fountain Valley Trail. They have closed the right side of Lyons Overlook for restoration which bummed me. The best bird eye views are from there and I couldn’t go there. Thy should create an official Overlook there. I enjoyed sunset from Fountain Valley Overlook which was amazing. Although the plants and shrubs blocked some of the view. There are restrooms and water filling station near visitor center,

Beautifull, many trails that you can choose from and all full of beauty. Bring water and of course camera and be prepared to be amazed with those mountains. Our 2019 summer vacation brought us all around Denver Botanic gardens, Denver zoo, Garden of the Gods. But this place was and will always be the most special. The air out there is so fresh. I felt like I had never taken a breathe like I did out there. Very little humidity. There is a variety of trails, some close to the rocks and others lead more into the trees and brush. There are plenty of benches along each trail and at one of them is where I was proposed to. Honestly the perfect setting. Standing in front of this view and the sun was starting to set. Colorado and this park were good to me.

Very pleasant park. I had never been here before and lived in Colorado most of my life. I pulled into the lot, secured my car, and ventured of through the North trail. Amazing scenery throughout and I kept to the trail around to the Persse Home. Very cool little house, I wish I could have gone inside. After that I looped around to the overlook and was amazed at the sights. Apparently they do weddings up there too. Pretty cool!I made sure to drop into the visitor center and grabbed a ton of park information. A lot of neat artifacts to look at too.You cant go wrong visiting here.

In the middle of autumn, the rolling hills are transformed into a plush carpet of soft yellows, browns and orange. It’s an enlightening experience to take a stroll through the park and watch deer and hare scatter in front of you or eagle soar above. Short drive from downtown Denver which made it the easiest to access if you’re limited for time.

We had a wonderful family hike with our 3.5 year old son. The visitors center opens at 9am, so we visited in our way back to our car. The trail was well kept and well marked. There were a lot of kids and another Mom with a stroller. She completed the whole Fountain Valley Loop. If you bring a stroller, bigger wheels are a must. We are looking forward to coming back in the winter and spring to see the area with a bit of snow. The area gets tons of sun, so it should be a decent cold season hike.

One of the treasures of the Colorado state park system. The Fountain Valley loop trail is one of my favorites, especially when there are flatlanders visiting from out of town. You cant beat these red rock formations (look for one that looks like George Washingtons profile facing the sky). The trail is gravel, making for an easy walk and even a stroller push. The only downside is that there is limited parking which may mean waiting to get in to the park. On weekends, go early or just after lunch to avoid the wait.

A great peaceful walk around the park. We came on a Saturday and the parking lot was full and we had to wait to get a parking place. There are restrooms and a visitor center. You will pay $8 per car or if you have a Colorado state park pass you will be able to get in with just the yearly pass. It snowed about 2 weeks ago and the snow was still on the ground in most places around the trails. This place is not wheelchair friendly.

A great park close to Denver. We went this weekend and hiked the Willow Creek Loop. This is a great hike for people who are looking for quick and easy. The loop is only 1.4 miles and while it never goes too far from the roads, you definitely feel like youre miles away from everything at a few points. The highlight of the hike was definitely the fox that stayed within out sight line for the majority of our hike! He was playful and didnt seem too scared of humans as he came pretty close to us a few times (just remember to respect the wildlife and their space). The trail was definitely icy in a few spots and my partner slipped once, so I would exercise caution during the winter months. Definitely need to wear boots or shoes with extra traction. The park does not allow dogs due to the fragility of the natural resources, but I would still recommend it to anyone looking to escape the city for a bit.

This park is Absolutely Gorgeous. The giant red rock formations are like gates to the Pike National Forest, which springs up right at the Southern and western edges of the park. The photographic potential of the area is nearly unlimited. When you enter the park and walk the trails you feel yourself in a place that seems unchanged by time. The immensity of the huge red rocks jutting up out of the earth will dwarf you and humble you, no matter how large of a person you are. You can climb higher in elevation to get a better look at the park below and the views are spectacular of not only the park but the Pike National Forest as well as the Denver skyline back to the northeast. This area has bears and there is a lot of food that they scavenge on in late summer to the fall, so definitely keep that in the back of your mind when walking around, but they would rather eat the raspberries and wild plums than bother with people and usually just run away. Since it is a State park, there is a seven dollar fee to enter the park and I always bring small bills to make change in case the cashier station is not open. Make sure you bring a camera; you never know what you might see...
