This is my fav venue. It’s small enough to feel like you are part of the show. Big enough to be able to get a good spot and tickets. Small enough that most bands come and meet the fans afterwards at the merch tables. I’ve been AMAZED at how many bands I have ACTUALLY meet here. I’ve actually had some luck of eating with the bands across the street. Plus been on a couple tour busses after the shows. I will ALWAYS be a fan and advocate for this venue.

Had waited years to attend this venue, for me just a historical music landmark. Very small place inside and was a sold out show. VIP was definitely the way to go in the sense but the perks were not quite up to usual par. A bar pass or a VIP bar would of been very advantageous and was slightly disappointed the posters were not signed, most headliners do not stick around after shows anymore to do so. There is a parking garage directly across the street to accomodate larger crowds, about $11 for the whole day spent downtown. Was a good time either way and I hope to make it back.

I read a lot of the reviews before going. The reviews made me reconsider going at all. So glad I still went.I went on Feb 23rd, 2020...……..so I cannot speak to the air conditioning. I thought the indoor temp of the building was perfect. The show was great. Of course Lucero was awesome but I also thought Jade Jackson was very good as well. I had never heard of her. I thought her band was top notch. I will buy her album.Security seems to be a big issue. I was expecting the worst from all the negative reviews. I have to tell you, they were perfectly fine. Did their jobs, courteous...……...no issues at all. During the show some folks near me were getting a bit rowdy and security was on them FAST. I saw up close how they handled the situation and it was.....professional. Glad they are there. The venue. It is what it is. It is a rock and roll club like any other. Perfectly fine. I want to go back and see more shows (maybe not in the Summer). So to sum it all up....again, cannot speak to the AC but if you are thinking of going, do not be afraid to go because of the reviews. For sure give it a try.(Keep in mind, Lucero draws an older crowd. Obviously other bands, with other fans.....you know, it could be a different experience than the one I had.)

Best local venue to see major bands for not so much $.The stage views are great. Drink prices are affordable. Paid $12 for a double of jim beam and ginger ale. I call that a win.I hadnt been to a show at the chameleon in quite a number of years. I went last weekend and had a blast. Small crowd. Cheap show. Amazing band. Opening bands did decent too. It is nice to see some local bands get their name out there. Small venues are just the best! The band came out after they played and signed autographs, did shots with some fans and took pictures, hung out and chatted it up like we were all old pals. Im sure not all the bands are willing to do that, but when is the last time you met a musician at a bigger venue... and didnt have to pay for VIP?Sponge band still rockin it

I have only been here once, but enjoyed the experience. The staff was efficient and friendly. The venue is very cool, multi-level, with a bar upstairs and outside patio for smoking. Also the drinks were cheaper than I expected. Only $6 for mid-shelf tequila. It was a decent drive for me, but I would go back again depending on the band playing.

Was very excited to see the SD show but the security here is on a total power trip. They purposefully antagonized and escalated a non violent situation. They turned it into a violent situation for no reason other than to make a scene. Well all of them need to work out some more as it took 6 security children to take down 1 man. All because they cant control a mentally ill mall cop.

I’ve been to tons of punk/metal/hardcore shows. All the way from Maine, to Florida, from Baltimore to Cleveland... and I’ve never been to a venue as horrible as this dump. The security staff was unbelievably rude from the second we showed up at the doors, and throughout the whole night. We were treated like absolute filth for having a slight hiccup with our digital tickets. I work customer service and I know there’s nothing worse than a clown who backs the line up, but we came when the opener had already started and there was literally no one behind us.Then the “throwers” in the pit were getting away with murder. I’m all about some good clean moshing, but this was ridiculous. All the bouncers were good for was throwing out random people for no reason and threatening anyone who dared to tell a thrower to settle down. Horrible environment. Not fun at all.It was also hot beyond reason for a December show. I’ll never go back to this dump.

I could write a novel about the negative experience my friends and I had with the staff. I understand rules and have no problem following them, but prefer to be spoken to like I am a human and did not have that experience at this venue. Staff was extremely disrespectful and tainted the entire experience with their power trip.Don’t bring prescription drugs to this venue- I had antibiotics confiscated at the door and thrown away right in front of my face. They were ridiculously strict with no reasoning behind their requests- it was like they pushed people around simply to assert their power. I’ve never seen so many customers walk out of a venue so disgruntled and disturbed by the behavior of security staff, people who are supposed to make the fans feel protected and safe! I’m sure there could be lawsuits against this venue for how people are treated and for the medications (which may be mandatory and cost a lot of money) that are confiscated and thrown out instead of collected and returned upon presentation of ID. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the venue itself, besides poor AC, was not bad.

PLEASE avoid attending this venue, without a doubt it is absolutely not worth your time, money or energy. The security personnel have never in their lives received any aspect of customer service training, as evidenced by the circumstances that transpired this evening amongst myself and others. They absolutely have some kind of god complex and are unwilling to work with you in any capacity. If the Chameleon Club wants to stay in business, I’d suggest hiring a new staff/security team, as many of the below reviews are complaining about similar issues (many comments from others in attendance this evening shared the same sentiments, as well). The bafoons that they are, they allow concert attendees in the door with items (specifically look at items and check them), yet when you go upstairs to the concert area, will confiscate your items and throw them away (apparently immediately after the confiscation took place?). When addressed after the event took place, they were dismissive and rude despite our polite pleas for some answers as to why. The biggest question to me is why throw the items away when confiscated (I’d understand if the item was illegal drugs or something similar, however this item was not illegal in any way), why not hold the items until after the show and allow those affected to pick them up at the end?Side note and irrelevant to the confiscation, be warned: if you are on any prescription pills, they will not let you in the venue with your pills in tow, regardless of the circumstance. I’m not too sure the legalities of that, however, if you are someone like myself that needs their prescription on them at all times, I would definitely recommend traveling to a different venue.

My favorite music venue in Lancaster, they have an open air patio on the 2nd floor for smoking and always have parking available in the garage right across the alley - the garage is usually $5. The drinks can get a little pricey, but it all depends on what and how much you are drinking. I also appreciate the security team - I have never felt unsafe and am thankful for that! It does tend to get hot just because it is a smaller venue and tends to draw quite a crowd - just dont wear your heaviest clothes and youll be fine.

Cant speak for the upstairs venue, but the lizard lounge was not good. Saw an awesome band there last night and it was a great show, but the in-house sound and light people were useless. The volume was up unusually loud for such a small space and the sound mix was awful. It left me with tinnitus even after finding some ear plugs lol. Also, the area for smoking is essentially just the front doorway, which wouldnt be a big deal if there wasnt no re-entry. Its completely irresponsible of the owners to allow it to reach the temperature that it does in that place. The AC system is completely useless. Someone is going to die from heat stroke in there one day and it will be 100% your fault. Serving warm bottled water and sodas with no ice is ridiculous. The waiting area for the doors to be open was horrible, zero fans and it was so hot and humid compared to actual temps that day. Then some genius decided to change the whole thing. Under 21 upstairs and beer drinkers have to stay down on the first floor, the complete opposite of how it used to be, should be, and how any other venue Ive been to does it. Not any music fans in their 30s that I know have any interest in being down on the floor, watching for idiots smashing into each other. We want to be up watching from the upstairs with a cold adult beverage. Deal breaker. In all honesty everyone I know feels the same way and none of us have gone back since. The Chameleon Club hosts many shows in the Lancaster Area, which is why you cant trust venues in the area without verifying. At the Dropkick Murphys show at Freedom Hall this evening a member of my group was told by Chameleon Club staff that her medication would be held in a designated area.Surprise, at the end of the show we were told all of those items were disposed of. This medication was for heart disease and of a variety that can cause life-threatening side effects in individuals with other existing conditions. When told this, Chameleon Club staff were quick go deny any involvement with the situation, and forced my party to leave under threat of police involvement.Never again will I or any of my party attend an event hosted by this sham. They said they were too drunk and threw them out when nobody was being harmed and the people were not that drunk. Way too small of a place for a packed house. Half of the people could not even see the stage. Prices were absurd. I think $3 for water is a rip off. Plus they overbooked the show and promoted 3 bands without confirming it with the headliner first which led to one of the opening bands being booted at the last minute. The only reason why I didnt call the fire marshal and report this obviously over booked venue is because of my love for sevendust and didnt want the fans to suffer from the management lack of being able to properly sell the correct amount of tickets. Ive never felt the need to make a review on a venue, bar, restaurant or really any establishment up until this point. About 10 minutes later, I realized I left my cigarettes in the car, and that there was NO food in this venue, also the only band I came to see didnt come on until 840.Not a big deal, we can hit a diner and run to the car for my smokes. Turns out, “leave the venue” meant literally just walk outside, not cross the street to get cigarettes out of my car.If that wasnt enough, the security at the front door asked me if ‘i had a problem’ and threatened me when I asked if he was sure, because that wasnt what I was told at the door. My tickets were will call, I wouldve just waited until the set time (I see stars) to come in if I was made aware of their policy. Now im stuck inside a bar with no food for 2 and a half hours in the bottom level, and can’t leave without losing the price of my ticket. One of the worst entry/exit rules ive ever had to deal with, and probably the most confrontational staff. If you’re trying to have a good time seeing a band, avoid this venue.

The bands were great, so was most of the atmosphere. One or two of the security guards were not professional, and handled the mosh pit situation poorly. There were a couple of guys that were drunk before the first band and started several altercations. They kept trageting and taunting a few people who were way outside the area of the pit. When the people near us defended themselves, they were grabbed from behind via choke hold and dragged out. Unnecessary and unprofessional.

This is by far the WORST venue I have ever been to for a concert!!! Went to see an acoustic show there that was supposed to be an intimate event. What a freakin joke! They packed way too many people in there we could not see the stage let alone the singers. Could hardly even hear the singer. People in the crowd were loud and talking the whole time cause we ended up having to stand next to the bar. We ended up leaving 30 minutes into the main act and drove 4.5 hours to come to the concert. HORRIBLE experience overall. I will NEVER come back to this place for a concert!! Honestly if you a review reader before doing things take my advice and avoid this place, Ive been to tons of concerts this is not the place to go for one!!!

Horrible experience. They sell tickets to scalpers, and double the price when theyre sold out. I was literally told to go buy tickets from a scalper by one of their employees when I called the venue.
