Very knowledgeable guide and a hidden gem in the heart of Lancaster. Highly recommended for anyone interested in early American history.

I can’t believe it took me 30 years to get here, but I am glad. This is an American treasure right in Lancaster’s backyard. The grounds are beautiful and the 90% authentic refurbishing of the mansion is impressive. The tour guide, Mike Henry, was excellent. He gave a great amount of detail and was very knowledgeable with all the questions with our small group. I hope more people will recognize the historic monument that is in our county and give it a visit. The kitchen was my favorite part. The cost is $8 and they accept credit cards. Make sure to arrive a few minutes before the hour you want to take the tour.

Rock Ford has a very interesting history and our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. One thing I didnt like about the tour: it was very briefly mentioned that the original owner of the house had owned slaves and then nothing else was said about them. Historical tours should include information on ALL of the people who lived there, not just the white people who owned the property.

A fantastic slice of history, nestled in a bend of the Conestoga River, and wonderfully preserved through the efforts of local foundation. They were very accommodating for our family group as we arranged for part of a family reunion to take place on the grounds of the plantation.Definitely recommend a tour of the house - but if you have toddlers youll either want to keep the tour short, or find alternate activities for them. The house has been restored nicely - but does not offer air conditioning, so plan accordingly. Also, there are no public restrooms at the plantation house - only a single port-a-john - though the nearby pavilions may have some restroom facilities.A great place for a weekend shot of history, and to get in touch with your roots!

Beautiful, historic farm that has been carefully preserved. Schedule a tour to see inside the house, or just walk the grounds and enjoy the views.

My daughter & new son-in-law were married here this summer. The atmosphere; Megan, the lady in charge of running the special affairs; the cleanliness; the space - absolutely everything was WONDERFUL!!! We ALL had a fabulous time!! Megan makes sure that whatever you need is taken care of!! I am disabled & in a scooter / wheelchair. The accomodations couldnt have been better if I fixed it up myself!!! There are stones on the ground near and around the barn, in keeping with the 250 year old farm. However, there were rubber mats laid down & it was accessible for myself & anyone that had a cane, trouble walking or similar!! Thanks so much Megan & RockFord Plantation!!Very sincerely,Mrs. Nanci S. Fanelli - Willmer

Beautiful house and property, but certain staff is extremely rude and unfriendly. The house tour itself is AMAZING! Rock Ford House is a beautifully restored 18th century house in a park. Theyve paid so much attention to detail, from furnishings to carpets to paint colors. Our tour guide, Sam Slaymaker, did an excellent job explaining the rooms and lives of the Hand family. He was very informative and answered every question we had. If you love old houses and history, you have got to see Rock Ford House! Ask for Sam as your tour guide!Now...on a side note:We arrived half an hour before the tour and were just walking around, enjoying the view. There was a large, unmarked barn near the house that we thought was a museum or something. As soon as we got inside the tour guide (who had just finished a session with a visiting school) asked us what we were doing and why we were in there. Apparently we werent supposed to be in there and should have known that, even though there were no signs saying Private or Reserved. If the barn isnt open to visitors, then please explain that with a sign or something instead of shooing them out.
