We love to go see movies here. We really enjoy it when they play the classics. Affordable drinks, super comfortable, and everyone is always safe to park nicely.

Poltergeist on Halloween was the perfect spokky evening

Located right along Route 37 in Lakeland, easily seen from the road. Very nice old theater, beautifully decorated. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. Temperature was fine, not too warm or too cold. Small concession stand selling popcorn, hot dogs and soft pretzels, as well as, water, coke, diet coke, sprite, beer and wine. Seating was comfortable, aisles were roomy. Other patrons were friendly. Restroom is on second floor up some stairs. My only (small) complaints were: I wish there was clarity as to where to park and I wish there were more soda options. Regardless, we had a great time seeing a Led Zeppelin tribute band (I hope Im using the correct term). They were really good. Our time at the theater was a wonderful experience.

Nice historic venue. Attended for the first professional boxing event ever held there with T&K promotions. The event was outstanding. The only issue was not enough choices at the concession stand and liquor.

I love this theatre and the design within! I went there to see The Exorcist and The Bride of Frankenstein, and both times they had good food, excellent ambience and even a live organ player. This theatre gives a better theatrical experience than even modern theatres purely for its nostalgia and quality of service from very caring volunteers.

Love this place. You get to see movies in a beautiful, historic setting. You cant beat the refreshments either. Where else can you get a Perrier, a coke and a popcorn for 9 dollars!

I worked at Polk theater in 2019 and it was the best staff I had the pleasure working with. I was there for the rocky horror show and I will never forget it.

Very beautiful theatre! I was hear for Salut DAmour concert and had a great time! There is valet parking available which is very convenient.

Been here a couple of times. We went to see Jaws tonight and it was an awesome experience. The movie itself is good;its a cult classic must see. Furthermore, the building itself is historical and ornately designed. It is certainly something that you do not see every day. Along with the building, the staff is awesome. Very friendly and professional. Theyll give you a genuine smile because theyre happy to be there.I 110% recommend this place for a fun night out or a modestly priced date night. Admission was five dollars per person and for a large Sprite and a small (still fair sized) bag of popcorn equaled out to 5.80$.Thanks to the staff and the organ player for a fun and memorable night.

My favorite theater to watch a movie or a performance. I always take a glimpse of the stars twinkling in the Venetian courtyard. Amazing attention to detail. The refreshments at the snack bar are very reasonably priced. My gratitude to all of the individuals and corporations in Polk Country who have worked to preserve this magnificent structure.

It reminds me of my teens when I worked at a similar magnificent theater, The Tampa Theater, downtown Tampa Florida. Great place to view a movie at a reasonable price, with great popcorn and wine. They show a great variety of movies from independent films to oldies and others. See you there!

This was my second visit to the Polk and just loved it. I was told the organ was a transplant from the Lowes theater in Canton, Ohio. I am from the Canton area and had seen Pinocchio as a small child at the Lowes. Loved Gone with the Wind on the big screen...such a nice experience. It indeed is a small world.

Love visiting this theatre. There should be more theatres maintained. Especially enjoy the organ. Theres not many left!

This place is amazing! One of the only few historic theaters left in Florida. By the way, there are only 4 in the entire state of Florida! If you like history and old movies, this place is for you. Very clean. If you like Tampa theatre, give this gem a try too. You wont regret it.

Went to Dinner and a Movie tonight with my son. The food was good even though a little overpriced at $17.00 for the food considering portion sizes. Please remember you are supporting a registered historical sight and it does compensate. Definitely would not have been enough for my hubby. If I ever go with him we will eat elsewhere and pay the $5.00 for the movie.

Tonight was our first Polk Theater experience and we loved it. This beautiful vintage theater is pretty magnificent. The detailed theming is such artfully preserved that it makes seeing a movie a special event again. They even have a huge balcony with plenty of seats. As we walked into the theater we could hear organ music playing and were happily surprised to see an organist playing live. They have a small concession stand with popcorn, pretzels, hotdogs, candy, sodas, beer and wine. Prices were good. We saw Love, Gilda tonight and really enjoyed learning more about Gilda Radner. The staff in the theater were all nice and friendly. We are looking forward to our next experience at The Polk Theater.

FABULOUS THEATER!! Volunteer staff is awesome. Great indie films. We saw Nosferatu with a live organist and we throughly enjoyed it. Fantastic prices. Go see a wonderful film under the ceiling full of stars!

How awsome is it to see a modern movie in a historic theater. In great condition and at a great price. Ticket drink and popcorn for only 11 dollars. Good variety of movies nothing new but the experience is worth it

One of the most beautiful gems in Lakeland. It is like stepping back in time! We thoroughly enjoy going here & watching old movies. The architecture is exquisite. I highly recommend that you go. You will definitely want to return over & over again.

I have driven past the Polk Theatre countless times never realizing how big and beautiful it was on the inside! From the planetarium style twinkling stars in the grand ceilings to the historic feel you are instantly transported and ready to be entertained.

A Truly Magnificent Movie Palace from the 1920s and 1930s that has been fully Restored and shows Classic Films on the weekends. Admission prices are very low and they even have a Spectacular Theater Organ, played by volunteers, before each film ( think Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, slightly smaller, but just as Grand !!!! ) A Wonderful Experience every time we visit !!!!!!

The history, and its place on the historic register, alone is good reason to visit. Along with that this theatre shows the best if indie films and beloved classics. Add to that the wonderful pre-show organ concert, the availability of wine or beer and hot dogs, and you have a wonderful night out.

Wonderfully restored classic theater. Fits in well with the downtown scene, especially Harrys Restaurant that is walking distance.

Saw a Beatles Reconstructed movie. Been to a few of these enjoyable indies. Very personable theater with great prices at the ticket booth and the snack bar. The decor of the 1920s is amazing!

Went to a stage play here I really enjoyed it! This place seats a lot of people. My only concern is that the bathrooms are up stairs so its not equipped for handicap people

Its a shame that this gem is not patronized more by Lakeland residents. There are only a handful of these theaters in Florida and its a great place to see a movie. They bring new, independent films to the area that otherwise we would not have access to. The prices are low and you can get beer and wine while watching the show. What more can you ask for?

Really enjoyed watching Valley of the Dolls here. Seeing a vintage movie in a vintage theater was awesome. It is a beautiful place, I loved the organ player before the show.

When there for a company event we had over 200 people and the place could seat them, but when it came to parking the place couldnt handle it. Also couldnt handle the rush of people going to the consession stand we had a line and they only served basic theatre food like popcorn and candy. They were not equipped to handle and event like that. We started later then we wanted so if it was a regular theatre event I believe they would have been able to handle it but not a company event.

Dancers from little ones and up performed very well .Hats off to the entire staff. Crystal is doing a great service for the dancers and staff

Great historical venue for some of the best shows, movies, and events in town. Love this place. I have been going to this place since I was a kid and thanks to the awesome staff for making it better than I can even remember. A+

Old time theater rarely found anywhere. Before all movies there is a live organ player there to entertain. Movies are independent releases. Some are great, others less so but all are interesting. They offer live shows occasionally which are always good. Well worth a visit. We go regularly.

This old theater has been spruced up and they play artsy movies, host concerts, and have theater productions. Prices vary depending on whats going on. We paid $8 apiece to see a movie one evening. They sell snacks there, too. Before the show, a man entertained us with live organ music! A neat throwback to the old Nickelodeons. The seats are comfortable and theres usually plenty of room; the place can probably seat 500. You can even sit in the balcony!

So nice to have this historic theater in our town. I remember years ago when it was refurbished. It obviously needs upkeep. In the lobby there is water damage and crumbling of a wall adjacent to the business next door. The inside makes one nostalgic to see the juliet balconies. I hope they can keep this property open and in good repair.

What a local theater should be!! Love watching live performances here. And movies are shown as well. Beer and wine at decent prices. Give it a try. You will love it.

Great old architecture. Beautiful Venetian design, stars glistening in the ceiling, like youre outside on a dark night when sitting in the theater. And they have wine - how many theatres can boast that? Well worth the visit if the movie is one you would like. Lots of indie films.

Very cool vintage feel but they should update the seating to get rid of the short and narrow seating aisles but still within the same style. Ive been there several times because of work but doubt Id pay money to sit on those uncomfortable seats for 2 hours.

I attended the Rocky Horror opening night 2018. It is a nice venue. However, instead of tapping me on the shoulder to tell me I couldnt bring in my purse that is shaped like a backpack, although very small, the man grabbed my strap while I was walking. This caused me to stumble back and really frightened me. Please teach your security or whatever he was that it isnt appropriate to grab peoples property like this.

Loved loved loved seeing movie about Fred Rogers and all he did for children. His passion was inspiring! They always have a great staff to take care of your needs. It feels like sitting in a great big living room with a bunch of new friends.
