The cutest little place! My kids had a blast! A few of the exhibits could use a touch-up from years of being so loved! But my kids had absolutely no complaint. The planetarium show was just long enough that the kids didnt lose attention. Theres a GREAT playground outside of the center as well!

Its nice that its free and in a pretty park but this place needs help. The exhibitions are a bit dated and need an upgrade... With all the farm land there and money from places like chef and the farmer it would be cool to see an upgrade on exhibits. The planetarium is free so who can complain but someone should take the kid running the show to a planetarium that is established. Obviously he has some passion but would do great with some guidance.

We visited this past Friday from Maryland and spent about 3 hours there. It was raining so my granddaughter did not get the chance to enjoy the playground. However I found the staff to be kind, and friendly. My granddaughter Summer loved the planetarium and the Nature center as well. Especially the turtles and Oliver. We are looking forward to visiting again in the Spring, so we can enjoy the river, and the park. Thank you for making it so enjoyable for my granddaughter, and our family.

The young man running the planetarium show was extremely rude and condescending. The show would’ve been more educational and fun if he would have used better language. He continuously told the children they were “wrong,” while trying to participate. The young man does not know how to work with children, or how to speak to them. I would have liked to have someone else lead the show. At one point, no one knew the answer to his question, and he stated that “your teachers need to do a better job.”The exhibit was cool, the nature exhibit and the older male staff over there were so kind and helpful, but the young man and staff in the planetarium area were just plain unpleasant.

The younger man working in the science museum part literally made us never want to return. He literally followed kids around telling them everything little thing not to do and not to touch. If I am within arms reach of my son I DO NOT need you to parent him. We left after staying for 30 minutes because of him specifically. It’s really a shame you allow these people to keep working here. I’m not sure what kind of job description you give them but he thinks he is something else. The nature exhibit was amazing along with the park and being able to look at the river but you need to re evaluate your choice of employees.

The young man behind the information desk couldnt have been more kind or informative. Kids are encouraged to be hands on while learning interactively.

The museum is free, all of the exhibits and the planetarium are free also. The exhibits were neat. The planetarium is analog. Supposedly the only analog planetarium on the east coast. This is a good no cost family outing.

My friend and I took our children here recently. First, I must say that as homeschooling moms, we love having a free place to bring our little ones to that is full of educational activities. They loved it! However, the staff made it much less enjoyable. The woman at the front desk yelled at my friends 2 year old repeatedly for running from activity to activity. When my very inquisitive 8 year old asked her questions about one of the exhibits, she rolled her eyes and said I dont know. This same woman presented the star show in the planetarium and it was a disaster. There were multiple large families in attendance (as it is a childrens museum!) And she paused the pre-recorded video track twice to ask the kids to be quiet. During her talk after the video, she stopped and told my friend that she and her children needed to leave because they were distracting. About five minutes after that, she insisted that another family also needed to leave because (Im quoting this) Im tired of having to talk over your children. (Again, isnt this a KIDS museum?!?). After kicking people out of the planetarium exhibit, her shift must have been over because she pulled out in her car and flew through the parking lot like a bat out of hell. Through a parking lot filled with children playing in a playground! After this experience, we want to the Nature Center where my eight year old daughter was again yelled at because she was playing with her little sister in a section that was marked as five years and under. Come on, people! If youre there for kids, lay off!

I found it very interesting, beautiful, and serene to visit this quaint little planetarium. The outdoor space was just beautiful with vibrant flowers and the Neuse river right in the back of the property. They also have a very small animal exhibit which my son loved and absolutely enjoyed. There is also a very big playground for children to play on also.

I thought people in the south had manners. I was wrong. Make sure you stand in front of the door to the planetarium. Otherwise you arrive first and are stuck sitting in front where you need to break your neck to see what is being displayed.A little fact checking would help with the information.

Really explorative-tactile science museum. Train ride, playground, swings for elderly by riverPotential to be so much more. Needs more funding so they can have more live animal exhibits, self guided informative nature walks, lush gardens.
