This was our third visit to the PumpHouse. Due to COVID restrictions we had the whole building to ourselves for a private tour! Our 4 yr old ran off to see the amazing train room while a few of us took the guided tour. We learned a lot about the architecture, Kingstons history and were amazed by all the artifacts in their collection room. Always a great balance of fun for all ages. So reasonably priced youll want to leave a donation. Staff is dilligent at sanitizing between tours, face coverings and social distancing. We felt very comfortable with their COVID protocols. This trip we also saw a flying fish! A live fish fell out of nowhere onto the front lawn while we waited for our tour. Shortly after a Sea Gull swooped down to retrieve his live lunch. Cloudy with a chance of minnows!!

Good history of water pumping station for Kingston. Also received a message of how, where and why artefacts s are captured and stored on Kingston. They are moving into an analytical stage of storage, where they are not keeping every copy of an artefact l, but maintaining the best few copies. Are also now attempting to best store artefacts to prevent further deterioration.

Small museum, good view of the old city water pumps. Huge model train setup. For the Canadians of a certain age, the model train set that appeared on the opening of The Friendly Giant is on display. You can run many of the trains. The old steam launch outside is a nice treat as well.

A small museum, can take you around an hour to finish it. It is even better when they do special exhibits. Last year they had a Leonardo DaVinci special exhibition!. Entrance fees are quite modest and suitable to the expectations. Car parking is free with the tickets.

Super-friendly, knowledgeable staff. We had a nice visit to the Pump House Steam Museum. Its not a huge museum so you could probably spend less than two hours there. We arrived at the end of the day so only had one hour. The model railroad section is great for younger children. Press a few buttons to watch the trains whiz around the tracks. It was interesting to learn about Kingstons bid to become the capital of Canada and the need for a steam-powered water pumping system. There are some interactive exhibits and we saw a Kingston Believe it or Not exhibit with fun facts about Kingstons early history. It was well worth the visit!

For the price the museum is not bad. But it is quite small so its better for people with families. Other than the size of the museum, I was satisfied with my visit.

This was an impromptu stop and we were extremely surprised and happy with the visit. First it’s a great value at a few bucks to enter. The exhibits were excellent and very informative. The best part was the train display and the kids area. My kids wanted to stay and play and had a great time.

This was a quick, fun tour of old pumphouse equipment. The entry fee was reasonable. Some of the push button activities didnt work and a few of the model trains werent operational. If you had kids with you, there were activities just for them. The Davinci exhibit was a neat complement.

What was supposed to be a visit to a 19th Century pumping house turned into a more emotional experience for me than anticipated. I learned about the Irish fever sheds and became so heartbroken. It overshadowed the quality of the museum. Perhaps another visit sometime.

I visited almost the first day it opened. There were more info on how pumping works. But those science info was probably too difficult and now it was replaced with science camp and other exhibits. But this museum is still full of fun for family with kids to spend couple hours. Dont forget about the fun train models!
