MUST STOP HERE if youre visiting the Kingston area. The museum has so much to offer and alot of interesting things to look at. Upstairs is definitely a must see too. Lots of gorgeous pieces and interesting history. We visited during covid and the flow of everything was great, open doors to the fire hall etc. But what really made this an excellent stop was the lovely woman running the museum that day. She was an absolute treat. She told us some interesting stories and facts, talked to us one on one about local events and places to check out and my favorite thing of all, she was amazing with all the little ones that were there visiting. She was very kind, energetic and really captured their attention which is so important for children in a museum. And to top it all off she was listening to a scanner (which made the experience feel that much more authentic) and told us she was once a first responder, now in health care and her husband is a first responder. So we want to thank her for her families service. What a wonderful little stop on our adventures through Kingston.
Awesome place
I enjoyed my time at this Museum and I love the learning about the history of the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department and all of the history of the artifacts there at the Museum.
The Volunteers here do an excellent job of preserving the Firehouses rich history. There are a lot of great pictures and equipment, and a lot of the Volunteers are full of knowledge about everything in there.
A slice of local fire history. Photos, articles and of course the fire fighting equipment from the beginning of the Kingston Fire Departments. Knowledgeable staff can take you back in time. A yearly muster brings in apparatus from other areas for the day followed by a truck parade.
A great find for me and the kids
