It is a nice area to walk around. Hopefully they will fix it up sometime soon so much space. Very cool to be at

Very peaceful and beautiful place. There is a very good bike path but might be a little spooky to be biking or jogging alone as some buildings are overgrown with trees and may feel very deserted, even in the broad daylight . You can also go down to the beach from stairs.

This a nice Park. The pluses are the access to the Nissequoque River from the marina and beach. A great place for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding with easy launch areas. There is canoe and Kayak rentals available for a one way trip down the river to Smithtown at reasonable rates. The river bank is just just a short walk with great views of the Nissequoque River and Long Island Sound. There is hiking available with access to the Greenbelt Trail. The grounds of the park are okay and there are some good views of water from the cliffs but the park is still lacking in amenities as it is being developed. The old buildings that are there have been attempted to be more presentable but they still show signs of neglect and the scars of their past use.

So much fun to explore and walk around! Lots of open fields for Frisbee or a picnic, highly reccomend on a cooler day as it is open fields with little shade. We had a great time!

Weve walked here many times but this week I launched my kayak from the boat ramp. Limited parking and you may have to walk a bit after dropping off your boat but the ramp is well maintained and there are a few picnic tables for when you get back and want to relax a bit. Its a short paddle to Short Beach but watch out for the river currents. It can be a tough paddle across to the beach.

Pretty cool. Has an estuary that runs like a river and a habitat unlike any on long island. Definitely worth exploring with kids and family if only for a education experience. Mixed crowd reflective of long island life.

Attention, small water crafts, when you enter the park head toward the building into the traffic circle then go right. Signs for the small craft launch site is not marked. If you make the first right you head into the boater launch.

Small park. Not much to do here. But interesting history with the old Kings Park Psychiatric Center buildings there. Small playground on grounds.

Not much to see. Its just abandon and theres cameras hidden everywhere so the cops will show up if you try to walk around. Whats the point....

Nice place for fishing and chill but not too spacious or fun to justify the 8 dollar park fee unless you are kayaking or boating

A good place to go for a walk or bike ride, and has some new development going on. Good for viewing nature, or launching boats into the Long Island Sound. However, it has some old buildings that remind you its still an abandoned hospital.

Its a great place to explore. I also enjoy the view of the sound, from the bluffs behind the mental hospital. It seems like the place to go for a walk with your dogs.

The actual park itself is in need of some major upgrades. Dilapidated buildings, poor roads, lack of restrooms or facilities. However, the ease of access to the river and LI Sound is unmatched. Well worth the $10 fee Memorial Day to Labor Day, every day or NY State Park Pass.

Haunting and beautiful, this is a piece of history that was both sanctuary and prison in its own ways. The story of Kings Park is well worth the research, and tells of the great progress and shortcomings of our mental health system.

Little gem no one knows of where you can explore and hike open fields, paths between the abandoned KP Psych Center buildings, bluffs overlooking the sound and a section of the Greenbelt trail that runs along the river. Do yourself a favor though and go in the morning, after 430pm or in the off season to skip the mandatory $8 fee NY State charges at the booth since the beauty and features of the park were there long before the state took control.
