The Unicorn is a great local theater company. The show selection is interesting and diverse. It seems to specialize in edgy productions - mostly plays, but the occasional musical. There are two stages in the complex - one small one and one larger one, but neither is very big. Both stages have very good sight lines, and all seats are close to the stage. The productions are top notch with great actors, sets, and lighting. There are two small bars - one for each stage. One disadvantage is that there is usually only one person pouring drinks, so sometimes the line gets a bit long. You can preorder drinks for intermission.

What a nice venue to see a wonderful play. It is very small so there isnt a bad seat in the house. There is a nice bar area with snacks, a small parking area with friendly staff. Loved it and will plan to see more plays here.

The Unicorn is a vital part of the KC theater scene. I am proud to be a season ticket holder. Their shows are typically cutting edge and unique yet the quality is top-notch. They recruit great local talent. It often feels intimate and there isn’t a bad seat in either theater. Highly recommend seeing a show there!

If youve never been to the Unicorn, youre missing out on a vibrant element of Kansas City! Been to several productions there over the years, and just completely absorbed by the performances every single time. Go-- youll love it. :) And, thank you, Unicorn, for supporting Fringe Fest!

Best place for cutting edge performances! The smaller venues are more intimate and make you feel like a part of the show. Ive been volunteer ushering there for nearly a decade now. Never gets old!

Bathrooms have been confused. There are no Mens or Women restrooms anymore, men and women use the same restrooms now. Interesting as one of the unisex restrooms still has open urinals.

This place is great. Cool shows, great casts, perfectly simple sets. The seats are a little tight, but the building can only be so big at this location. The bar queue takes a bit too long, but a lot of that comes from the audience/customers. Ive never had or seen any problems here (starting too late, missing cues or stage marks, etc.).

One of our favorite small KC theaters. The plays and acting is always outstanding. The theater is intimate and comfortable and you can reserve your seats. Everyone is friendly and the lobby is really nice with a bar where you can order drinks and snacks. We are cutting back on some of our theater going but we will always buy season tickets to the Unicorn.
