A little over priced (clarification below) but overall it was a good experience. We heard about The Beast from some friends and drove from Springfield with another couple. We arrived around 8pm and as expected there was a very long line. We decided to purchase the line skipping passes so we paid quite a bit more (which I think was worth it) and to be fair, we literally spent 50 minutes inside which says a lot for how long it is. Because of COVID you needed to pay an extra $10 to jump out of the building. I believe the regular ticket price was $27 and after consideration I feel that $20 would have been more appropriate. That said, I am not sure if they could operate at such low prices so believe me when I say I am not complaining. The disappointment was that with the line skipping passes, we paid $200 and we ended up constantly being bunched together with other people which took away from the experience. I dont know if there is anything that can really be done and I can imagine how long the wait in line would be if everyone was spaced out but at $50 (I know, I know, I skipped the line) I feel a little let down given the price. If I ignore the spacing issue, this is probably the extensive haunted house I have seen and was well thought out and diverse and yes I would and will recommend but will also give a few caveats...

This place is still one of the best haunted houses in KC. The staff is pretty good at picking out the screamers and keeping after them. They will also make you feel foolish when you make a wrong turn and end up somewhere you shouldnt be!This year I felt like they were understaffed. There were several hiding spots that would have been great to scare people from that didnt have anyone in them. We actually made it thru a couple spots without anyone jumping out at us.

Worst experience. First of all, no social distancing, like at all except for the required masks. You basically go through the entire thing in a line of people. There was absolutely 0% separation of your group at all. They scanned your ticket and just said go up. The set up was cool and did get scared a few times. However, most of it was ruined because I watched every scary thing happen before I got to it. Just disappointing. Im also pretty sure fire codes were violated. Like if a fire broke out in that place with a huge line of people in the dark...there would be a lot of dead people. Just saying.

The haunted house is a good haunted house but the VIP pass is honestly not a good system for everyone, just the VIPs. Usually, the fast passes will still be split between the regular and VIPs. Not here. We got here right at 730 when they opened and have waited for two hours now. Still standing in line now. They are letting hoards of people in front of everyone who’s been waiting so long. Just not a fair system. They are selling these fast passes to almost as many people as there are in the ticket line. Buying in advance should help too but sadly does not.

This haunted house is one of the best, but this year I was disappointed. We preordered tickets online, which seems smart. However, when we got here, there were two lines, one for people who prepaid and one for people who needed to purchase tickets. The rub is that they were admitting both lines at the same time. So prepaying doesn’t give you an advantage. In fact, we waited longer because the prepaid ticket line had far more people than the other. To say the least we got ripped off, they already had our money so we waited while people who didn’t have tickets got in quicker. At one point prepaid ticket holders abandoned the line. If I was you, don’t mess with prepaying for tickets unless you don’t plan to come down till 11. This is just ridiculous and ruined a potentially good experience.

This is a really good haunted house, the actors and props were both fantastic. However, the rest of my experience is what led me to leave this review. The people running this place seem to have either let money motivate how many people they let in at a time, or dont have good control of the numbers. When we went through the haunted house, we ended up multiple times in the traffic jam of terror, where we were back to back with other big groups of patrons. I know any indoor attraction isnt a great idea with COVID, but there are ways to limit that risk and they did the opposite. At the end, we waited 15 minutes in a stuffy little passageway with other patrons before we could leave. This is a danger to patrons and the actors. I didnt have this problem at Edge of Hell, so if you want to do a haunted house, just go there.

We bought 5 tickets for The Beast. That’s a lot of money to spend for a bad experience. This haunted house was so disappointing. There were so many people that were let in at one time. I’m not sure why they didn’t spread out the timing of the groups entering. The line inside the haunted house barely moved. You could see and hear everything that was happening to the people in front of you. Several times the “actors” weren’t back to their original places before we got to them so there was no scare to be had. The only time I was scared was when air puffed in my face because that was something I couldn’t see and didn’t expect. The line moved so slowly. We took about a step every 5 seconds. It was boring and not worth the money.

This haunt has so much potential it hurts. You could barely see any of the hard work put into decorating the place as well as it was so poorly lit. Maybe I got a bad night but for the middle of October on a Friday night, itseemed like it was half staffed at best and was extremely disappointing.Additionally. The line for people who bought tickets Im advance took literally twice as long as the line for people who hadnt bought tickets yet. Doesnt make sense at all that you tickets cost more to buy ahead of time and yet you have to wait twice as long as people who buy at the door and dont pay service fees.

Review №13

The beast haunted house was pretty good, but when we went to the second one the lineFor the people who haven’t bought their tickets was shorter than the line for the ones who already did. My family and I waited in line for over two hours just to get frustrated and leave. You guys were letting in people who didn’t even buy their tickets yet before people who had already bought them. Then you guys really had to the nerve to offer a fast lane pass for $15 to the people who have been waiting for hours meanwhile people who didn’t buy their tickets yet were getting treated like they bought the VIP pass or something. I think it was very unfair, unprofessional, and quite frankly I found it disrespectful.

Buying a ticket for here is like buying a new car, there is this fee and that fee and then tax and it makes the price of a ticket EXTREMELY misleading. And come on, most of the parking is free down there (Street parking) and as taxpayers weve already paid for it! The entertainment factor was not there at all for what it cost. Could have gone and seen a dozen movies for what it cost for this place. Used to be these places were fun and exciting. Now they are just tourist traps it seems like.

Its fun. I been going for the past three years. I recommend all three haunted houses its cheaper to get it as a package deal. People complain about the waiting in lines however you can pay little more for the Vip status you get in faster. It cost little more but its worth the cost instead of waiting for a period of time. Fri and Sat nights the vendors are out in the area and they have shows out in the street in front of the haunted houses. I planning to go again this year but I not sure is going to be open due to the COVID19 issues. Please do a update in your website if the haunted houses going to open this year-thanks

If you are a haunted house enthusiast, this is SOooo not worth your money or time! We waited two hours and spent $68 for two online tickets and honestly, would not have cared if we didn’t end up being highly disappointed once inside the doors. I have been to many haunted houses in my life and this was by far the worst for all the hype and fame it had! Other than a handful of people actually working inside walking around you, they had fake “beasts” jumping out from the sides. Since it was extremely overcrowded, we saw everything happening to the people in front of us and kept trying to wait it out so we could hopefully enjoy the motion sensor “scare.” Honestly, I was scared ONCE from the guy dressed up as a werewolf who popped out in front of me. The strobe light room was the worst, you could not see anything, people were stuck in a room trying to figure out where to go, and you couldn’t move so I was getting nauseous standing there. Every time we thought it would get better, it got worse. The lady at the end asked what the scariest part was and I couldn’t even answer her. Also, you have to pay $10 extra for the jump at the end so that was a bust since that’s the only thing that looked fun after walking through a lame haunted house. This place spent so much effort on their effects and fake molds, but not the REAL true scare tactic of actual people scaring you which makes a haunted house feel legit. I do not recommend the Beast and will never go back.

And when I called to ask if they knew when we could purchase tickets in person (to save $ service fee), at first they said the doors open at 8 and didnt know when we could purchase tickets. I had an absolutely awful experience this evening. The haunted house itself would have been scary if we weren’t jam packed into the event like sardines. You could hear all the jumps scares that were coming up and the actors did not interact or direct you to the correct exit- I know sometimes it’s apart of the fun to not know the way out, but if you are back to back it doesn’t make sense for everyone to run around a room looking for an exit. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME! For years I have heard about “The Beast” and when I moved up here I was thrilled to actually experience the hype. I went lastnight, they should change the name to “The Bust” it was extremely disappointing. The long lines dont bother me as it’s apart of every haunted house but they usually make up for it, this place did not. The constant congestion and stop and go during the walk through killed any and every possibility of being scared. We found ourselves stalling to gain some distance between other customers so we could get some kind of excitement and still you already knew what was coming as everything was sensor related, no actual live people scares. The ending was an even bigger bust with an additional fee to jump. Honestly they should have paid me to jump or had someone up there handing out refunds. I’ve read the reply’s to the reviews below from the owners where they state “record crowds”...? Who cares? Sounds like they should plan better and not make their problems our problems. I paid for an experience and didn’t get one due to poor planning and crowd/ entry logistics. To the owners- comment below on steps to get my $70 back, not some Facebook page where you don’t reply.

Review №73

The WORST haunted house I have EVER been to. DO NOT... I repeat... DO NOT go there. You will wait in the cold for 2+ hours (even if you spend extra to buy tickets online) to be highly disappointed! They do not space people out when going in so you’re literally herded through the haunted house in a tight line where we had to stand around waiting for it to move at some points. Everything that was meant to be ‘scary’ was 100% predictable and boring because we seen it happening to people ahead of us so it didn’t even have the opportunity to scare us.It seems as if they spend all of their money from their over priced tickets on props and pressurized air instead of workers to scare you. This place has SO MUCH potential but it was severely wasted. I can’t tell you how many dark y’all corners or even ENTIRE ROOMS were 100% empty of anything. I can bet that we only ran into 5-10 ‘scary people’ MAX. I feel cheated and to put the rotten cherry on the melted sundae they charge ten extra dollars to jump out of the window so you can’t even make up for the complete horribleness of the haunted house with that. The slide alternate was OK though. And to continue my rant because It was THAT bad.. it was not only terrible but dangerous as well. The scariest part about this place was walking. Some rooms were so pitch black (with nothing in them) that you couldn’t see where you were walking and the floors were uneven (often with sand), then all of a sudden STAIRS. Yes... you had to walk steep stairs in blackness sometimes. So to end this.. do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. The owners of the Beast should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

Each year my friend and I take our daughters to the KC Haunted Houses for my daughters birthday. This year we went to The Beast and I must start off by saying that the actors and sets were all great! We all had a ball once we finally made it into The Beast. This is a one-star review because we waited in the pre-paid bypass ticketing at the door line for over TWO HOURS AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES last night, starting at 7pm, and upon finally reaching the front of the line, the problem became crystal clear. The Beast offers a $15 VIP Line Pass add-on that claims to let you skip all lines, which is simply not true. The VIP Pass lets people who pay extra wait in a different, much shorter VIP line. The other two lines (pre-paid and pay at the door) ONLY MOVE WHEN THE VIP LINE IS EMPTY!!! The VIP line ranged from 10-100 people, and there were at least 500 people in each of the other two lines, which wrapped around the building on both sides. The problem for the two non-VIP lines is that any time the VIP line gets short, paid actors are sent out into those two long lines to recruit more people for the VIP line. Once we finally reached the front of the pre-paid line, we waited an additional 20 minutes while people from the VIP line were continuously ushered through. We were literally 4 feet from the metal detector at entrance, but we were not allowed to pass through with our prepaid, non-VIP tickets. Meanwhile, the VIP line kept growing longer, and the person running the metal detector entrance would not even make eye contact with all of us standing in the pre-paid line. My 14 year old daughter finally got fed up and asked the attendant when it would be our turn, and he replied, when the VIP line is empty. After nearly 3 hours, it became clear that that might not ever happen, and so we finally barged our way into the line, along with two other groups who had been waiting just as long as us. Never in my life have I felt what it was like to be treated like a second class citizen, until last night, and it was among the most infuriating experiences of my life, and it makes my heart go out to all of those who experience such feelings regularly. It feels utterly dehumanizing. All of the people standing near us in line were equally beyond angry, and it unquestionably marred our perceptions of the wonderful performances of all of the actors inside The Beast. If The Beast wants to be honest with customers, then they need to make it known that the pre-paid and pay at the door lines will only move during rare vacancies in the VIP line, and that when there are such vacancies, the employees will be actively scouring the lines for people who want to upgrade to the VIP pass.

Bought the VIP tickets for all three houses.Arrived and quickly checked in, so far so good. From there all down hill, they let too many people in at a time, causing 5-10 min delays in the house at EVERY scare room. Most of the rooms and transitions were so dark, that it was hazardous and caused the delays. I have been to many haunted venues and have never encountered this type of scare tactic, it almost seems like they didn’t have anything setup for most of the house, so they turned off the lights. There were minimal actors all throughout the houses. They counted in the animatronics and dark for scares. Where were the killer clowns!!!!We got so disappointed, we did not even go to the third house. Definitely taking advantage of their past reputation.

Do it the same way every year. Lines were not as long to get in the night we went, but still worth the $ to go VIP. Thanks for the memories.
