There are no words to describe the Cosmic Laser Show in the planetarium! Amazing time! The best Christmas songs to usher in the Christmas season! The lasers were incredible! It’s a nonstop show that is about one hour long, but is so fast paced that it doesn’t seem like one hour! The kids will love it. Take the entire family! Buy tickets online so you are prepared to enter. Arrive early because parking is scarce!

The receptionist at the desk was very insensitive to my medical problem the American disabilities act prevents her from asking me why I cannot wear a mask I have many reasons not to and I am a nurse of 30 years and my husband is a doctor of 40 years and she told me I needed to go back to nursing school. Someone working in the public like that needs to be more sensitive and be more kind and understanding she needs to go back and take some psychology before she works with the public. If it were me running that place she would be gone.

The MOSH was clean and the exhibits were great. I always feel like its a bit a lacking, like not enough exhibits. I think the themes seem all over the place and dont really flow together well. The staff is always very friendly and the little humans I am related to all love coming here.

Hurray for kids free during November at MOSH. There were some things like the treehouse climber room that was closed but this is still a fun day for kiddos. The Toytopia was a lot of fun especially the classic arcade games and the giant piano. Only reason for four stars is they have tried to make some things hands free but unsuccessfully. Better just to try to social distance and take advantage of the many many hand sanitizer stations. Note that adults still cost full price.

I have a two toddlers and we go through the musuem in 30 minutes. There isnt much for toddlers but it keeps the kids busy. There is a dino exhibit. It is not as extensive as the jax zoo but the kids loved seeing it (about a 5 mins walk through). Interesting history for teens and adults, wouldnt recommend for toddlers.

Loved this place. I went with my two youngest and we were there for hours. The boys especially enjoyed the dinosaurs. I enjoyed the history portion and explaining each exhibit to my boys. Also they have great deals for military, students, veterans, and even if you have a foodstamp card. If you have a foodstamp card it is $2.50 per person. This place is a positive place and gives back to the community. If you have the time check it out and support them. You will not regret it.

MOSH was a great family museum experience. The traveling dinosaur exhibit was a huge hit with my 8 year old son. The permanent collection was a great mix of natural/wildlife exhibits (the ginormous Alligator Snapping Turtle outside was a sight to behold!), interactive educational experiences (bodily movement and energy production), and local art/history. Total cost for a family of four was just over $50, well worth the learning experience and the enjoyment we all derived from the trip.

MOSH has made their facility ready for visitors during this COVID pandemic by installing shields at reception, requiring masks and selling them for those who dont have one, updating any touch interfaces with proximity sensors to still allow interaction without contact, single use stylus for those touch screen interfaces and plenty of hand sanitizer for anyone there to freely use. Plenty of spacing as they take reservations for all visitors to manage crowds. The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I recommend it.

Nice place to take family & friends to visit. The MOSH have many things that will spark the brain cells in the young and the adult and perhaps you will learn a thing or two. Nice place to visit and while you are there perhaps consider on becoming a member supporting this noble institution. One more thing if you like to travel you may get to take advantage of your membership since it can be used at a small number of selected museums.

I love science, nature, history, and dinosaurs, so the Museum of Science and History was a great find while my lovely girlfriend and I visited Jacksonville. Our hotel was a scenic 7 minute walk away, which was convenient. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the nicest person at the admission counter. Her name was DANA and she was a superstar. The place has 3 floors packed with exhibits, and while some restrictions were imposed due to COVID-19, we still had a great time. There were lots of live animals to look at and photograph and all the staff seemed very friendly. I really enjoyed learning about the different ways to generate electricity. I was hoping to see the planetarium, but it was closed. We will surely keep an eye on this place for a possible future return visit.

This is a very small museum to begin with but with covid 19 they have closed all of the interactive exhibits so there is very little to do here right now. The staff were also kind of rude and uninviting which made the experience just that much less exciting. The whole thing took an hour to go through and that was really a stretch. It might be better under different conditions, but right now I dont necessarily recommend visiting.

Its very interesting to come here. If you spend your time reading everything, then youll be here for awhile. A lot of the interactive things dont really work? It does have a lot to do. There is a planetarium, a brain teaser section, an astronaut interactive section, ocean section, body system section, lynching in Jacksonville section, energy section, Jacksonville history section, and a toy train section. Theres so much to see. The staff are friendly and helpful. A good choice for a field trip.

This place has a lot to see. Id set aside 2-3 hours if solo or on a date. A whole afternoon if youre bringing kids. The animal exhibits are my favorite part. On my last visit, the doves were especially vocal. The outdoor section gets closed after dark, so arrive early if you want to see a gigantic turtle. The second floor is almost always full of kid-friendly activities. Check their website in advance to see if a traveling exhibit is present. Some are more educational than others, but theyre always really neat. The history section doesnt change much, if at all. Theres a lot on display and a lot to read, so kids could get bored pretty fast.On the first Friday of the month, they play a bunch of laser shows in the planetarium (one each hour), usually finishing off with a Pink Floyd show at the end of the night. Ive been to three shows so far, and Ive found The Wall to be the best in overall quality. Obviously the songs you like will influence which shows you like the best. They used to have a display of preserved human organs that theyve since replaced with electronic games. I think its less interesting now, but kids might like it.

It’s OKAY. No good for kids. Too many places now think a room full of big reading boards and TVs qualifies as a museum. There are very few hands-on learning experiences. The science show was very good for the whole family and is about all that saved our trip. Overpriced for what it is and not good for kids.Oh. And the girl at the front desk February 16, 2020 could NOT have been any less friendly or helpful. She was terrible.Go to Chattanooga children’s museum to see what this place should be.

I will always love MOSH. It holds a special place in my heart. Its hands down my favorite museum in jacksonville. I also want to say I love that friendship fountain is right outside next to it. My favorite parts of it are the live animals and the touch tank shows. I know this is a popular place for children, but it should also be popular with adults too. Its super educational, and generally very quiet. I always learn something new when I come here. I would love to see the outside sitting area with the pond taken better care of, the hand sanitizer dispenser has been broken for who knows how long and maybe some more dispensers throughout the museum. Since it is a popular place for children, its a popular place for germs too . Having an ever changing exhibit on the second floor keeps things upbeat and new whenever you go. I saw a planateraium show today that talked about this history of telescopes and it brings me hope for the future and gets me excited to keep learning more and more about science.A year pass for 1 adult is 45$ but its also discounted on Mondays so take advantage of that and you can always bring 1 guest. This museum is extremely vital to Jacksonville, I know the people work really hard here to make it nice and keep it that way. Please always do your part and clean up after yourself.

A number of the interactive exhibits are broken including the nectar collector and food web pond, the cameras on the night vision exhibit are blurry. Most of thw stuff on the first floor does not hold a young childs attention very long. My kids (3 and 5) spent thw most time playing with legos on thw second floor (that can do that at home. For 2 adults and 2 kids it was $54. Did not really think i got my moneys worth

I drove 2 hours from Savannah with my 9 year old nephew and 6 year old niece. My nephew had 2 broken wrists so just about every physical activity enjoyed by many kids over summer break was not an option for him. He has been to the zoo several times over the last few years so we decided The MOSH was the most logical, affordable indoor choice. We were not disappointed. We arrived at 11:00 and moved almost nonstop for 3 hours. Both kids learned while having fun (or had fun while learning). Your entrance ticket includes one of the rotating shows in the planetarium. We chose the astronaut presentation. It was well done and informative for all audiences. This is a museum clearly designed for the education and entertainment of children (about ages 5-12). Anyone who writes a poor review describing it as not relevant for an adult is correct. I have been to national museums in Rome, Madrid and London. I believe my nephew and niece would be bored after 10 minutes. The MOSH is perfect for them.

Definitely a few fun things to do here. Especially if you have a grade schooler with a fascination with space! I would say about 1/4 of the interactive pieces did not work. Many rooms either didn’t make sense, didn’t correlate, didn’t have enough, didn’t work or just simply weren’t entertaining. My youngest is 4 and she was excited about the planetarium, the animals, some of the space stuff and I could tell she wanted to engage with the ocean/whale room but there wasn’t enough to engage. She was disappointed that the little kids space was just a tree house, the outdoor space didn’t have a playground or something to interact with, and the whole third floor. Was looking forward to getting a membership but biked away without one. Either we have been spoiled with really great children’s/history museums in other states or this one was truly just a disappointment.

It’s a decent museum. Nothing spectacular. The staff could have been more welcoming. Many(many!)of the exhibits weren’t even working and no one was trying to fix it. So we were basically walking around and staring at activities. The planetarium show(tour of the solar system) was nice. Seemed a bit fake and the live narrator wasn’t very interesting (although you can tell he was doing his best). The seats and room were nice but it smelled muggy(like carpets and seats need to be cleaned). I was disappointed because I wanted my kids to enjoy more interactive learning activities and there wasn’t much especially because many were broken.
