My first time ever being there the museum is big that I couldnt walk around the whole museum due to me being pregnant but I really appreciated some of the art displayed. I also loved, loved, loved the garden area of the museum its so beautiful and peaceful and inspiring! I really wanted to just stay in the garden section of the museum LOL, very relaxing. There was one piece of art that was so interesting, crazy, a little bit disturbing and creepy, but also thought provoking at the same time. I will not reveal what it is made out of I believe it was called the black hole or black stone. Tuesdays are free entry, I dont know if thats permanent or if its just for a limited time, good place for the family or lovers of art.

Aside from being stalked by the security guard who told us off multiple times for merely looking too closely it was an informative visit.Exhibits dont flow very well and are confusing to navigate by map, best to just wander around out of interest.Large oak is worth seeing.Gardens at night have a lovely ambience but need better path lighting (solar?). Excellent night view of the bridge.Has a good selection of items in store.

The museum is a large well-organized facility which features a wide variety of paintings, sculptures, pottery and other pieces of art. In addition, there are exterior gardens with scenic views of the river. In addition, they feature a childrens area that allows younger visitors an opportunity to participate in different activities and create their own artwork. The museum also has a small cafe that serves light fare food items and beverages.

Small Museum with Big Heart. Great Cafe. Interesting Museum Store. The permanent collection is nice. I would have liked to see a more creative means of offering background about various pieces. The Tiffany glass display on special exhibition, however, was stunning! The darkened room was key. My photos do not do the pieces justice. Ive seen many of Tiffanys pieces over the years, but this display does his work proud. The explanatory notes were extremely well done! The garden is beautiful. I wish the museum had been decorated for the holidays. The gift shop has a lot of interesting and affordable items just in time for the holidays.

So on a whim and a subliminal radio announcement about the Cummer Museum, I decided to do an eat, pray, love date with myself. The museum is on the riverfront which gives it a wonder view.Parking was very simple. I parked across the street from museum. I didn’t have a long walk or a hard time searching for parking which was a plus. Before I got into the museum I saw a guy dancing intensely. He asked if I’d like to get some head phones to jam during my museum experience. Yolo, I took them just for fun. It was actually an event that museum was encouraging as part of the Summer Fridays at the museum. So a little info about the Summer Friday. This is actually pretty cool. It extended the museum hours from 4pm to 9pm. This will be going on until Sept 6. Admission was free to check out the majority of the museum. You do have to pay $10 for the French Modern, but it’s optional to do.I was really was impressed with the museum. Tons of beautiful art. I would definitely go back. It was kid friendly and also a great idea for a date night.

Amazing museum with a relatively small collection of some beautiful pieces of art spread throughout the interior and exterior garden. Admission is extremely reasonable and you could easily spend an hour or two perusing all the pieces. The layout is extremely friendly and the map is extremely well explained. Free parking is also extremely easy with a large lot right across the street. I highly recommend stopping by this museum if youre in the area and have some time.

A lot of amazing art and artifacts here! Unfortunately the gardens are not taken care of well. Every flower seem to be suffering some sort of disease or lack of care. Like all the coral breeze roses needed deadheading, and more. Theres so much that could be done to liven the place up! Its on a beautiful piece of water and view. It was a little upsetting that the cafe closed at 3 p.m. wallpaper was still eating at the tables we were unable to order anyting. Except for junk food and well that doesnt work for ketogenic or low carb. I sure hope that they invest some of the money that they make and have into the gardens, they have everything else.

The price is right, free admission. It is mostly paintings, some of them are pretty cool. They had some Egyptian artifacts that I thought were awesome, but I think they were a temporary exibit. So entranced by the ancient live oak in the back of this museum! The garden grounds are entrancing, and have their own draw, apart from the treasure within. Really great museum with interesting permanent and temporary exhibits (summer 2019 is French Impressionists), and some of the best gardens Ive ever seen, right on the St Johns River. The gardens tend to have quite a few mosquitoes (lots of birdbaths and pools with standing water), but really great for a short walk. Exhibits are nicely organized, but not a ton of sitting spaces within exhibits.

We had four hours to kill before a flight home, so we decided to visit the Cummer Museum since it was fairly close to the airport, and we knew we could grab a bite to eat. I read online that it was Tapas Tuesday with live music, so I made a reservation for the patio. We were highly impressed with everything from the convenience of storing our luggage to the friendliness of the staff to the variety of exhibits to the intimacy of the spaces and of course, the gardens (even though they are currently under repair after the wrath of Irma). Since we enjoyed leisurely reading the placards, we had to walk a bit snappier through the last exhibit, the special exhibit on Augusta Savage, in order to make our 5 oclock reservation.Tapas Tuesday was a lovely way to end our visit. The live jazz was so enjoyable, and the patio was filled with to capacity, so I recommend a reservation. I ordered the tomato soup and kale salad combination, and while the kale salad was good and what I expected, the flavor of the tomato soup blew my mind. My daughter had the grown up grilled cheese, and although she usually eats like a bird, she devoured the entire sandwich and the side of fruit. To punctuate our experience, we shared the divine and sinful, but oh so worth it, chocolate lava cake. It was definitely worth the calories. As we were leaving the museum, the same woman who greeted us wished us a safe flight and hoped we had enjoyed our visit and asked that we visit again. We certainly will! If youre visiting the Jacksonville area, the Cummer Museum is a must.

Always lovely here. I enjoy the pieces and the gardens (they have a French and an English garden) so much that I go every year when they change the theme. However, I havent tried the food in the Cafe, I dont know what it is, but the cafe area smells strange, might be something specific they clean or cook with but its been that way for a while. Who knows, maybe the food is good, they have outdoor tables so you can eat it there. Maybe next time for me.

This museum is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon but in my opinion, as wonderful as the displays are that they are able to procure for the interior...you will ALWAYS catch me out back in the gardens. People have no idea about the gem that is hiding in plain sight right behind that building. I got a book as a gift about the history of the museum many years ago and it is truly fascinating the lengths they have gone to just to save the enormous oak tree out back. I encourage you to add this to your list of hidden local must- visit locations when you are sitting around someday complaining that there is nothing to do in this town!!! You wont be disappointed.
