Old vintage buildings worth making a short visit just to see what used to be an agricultural icon way back when. We consistently stay at the La Quinta Inn there because the prices are so great & theyre pet friendly. We like that they made the most of the original soy bean silos by converting them into hotel rooms instead of tearing everything down. Staying at that hotel is kinda like an interesting museum visit. We also enjoy the nearby Knowlwood restaurant that has a great Cobb salad & delicious classic hamburgers.

Love it, brings back memories of when I was younger, back in the 60s,70s and 80sDoes where magical years in Irvine.Irvine Country Store was my favorite place to be and take lots of pictures. I do miss all thatWestern style. Irvine has grown and it continues growing all around, I still go sometimes and visit the neiborhood at Burt Rd. And Sand Canyon.

Really cool being in the Silo part of the building. My room is in a silo!!! The old historic Bean producing tin can looking structure has been renovated to house some shops & rooms by LaQuinta by Wyndham. During WWII in the 1940s this was the largest bean producing company. How cool!!

They have a couple plaques of what that area used to be im the WWII era which done local enthusiasts might find interesting. Other than that, there is a Dennys and a Jack in the Box and the area reflects what you would expect considering that. I wouldnt stay or visit here

I stayed at la Quinta inn Friday night 6/13. Very comfortable and clean room. Corazon was working at the front desk when I checked in. She was very welcoming with a great sense of customer service . I will definitely make future reservations at this hotel. Thanks Corazon for being a valued part of my stay.

Old bean storage elevator made into hotel (LaQuinta Inn). Cement walls & sealed lights retained, but modern facilities built into rooms like any hotel. On National Historical Registry. Huge park facility within mile or so, including indoor Ice Rink & other recreational activities. Many restaurants of any type u r looking 4 in the area, 3 close 2 Inn. Shopping mall within easy driving distance on surface roads.

A nostalgic piece of Irvine. Historical buildings have been relocated here so it feels like an older time. Eat at Knowlwoods for good food, great service, and value pricing.

This was a pretty cool place to stay. We needed a place that wasnt going to charge our card so we could pay with cash, and unlike most, they worked with us. The free breakfast was excellent. There were many choices to choose from. On the negative side though, the elevator was sketchy, sometimes pushing the button two or three times before it would work, and it was really, really, close to very active train track. Interesting fact, the wing we stayed in used to hold over 16 million pounds of Lima beans.

I really love this historic area and building..the building that is now part of La Quinta Inn off of Sand Canyon in Irvine is my FAVORITE place to stay in Orange County because the room is part or a converted old grain silo used to store grain that was on the train that goes through the area. The walls are thick cement that look really cool and keep the room cool in temperature and quiet inside..the outside of the building still has all the hooks and pulleys from loading grain..its very industrial looking. I absolutely love it!

Maybe Im missing the point but THIS IS NO LONGER AN ATTRACTION! We were looking for something to do between a wedding and reception so thought this would be interesting. We laughed until we cried - there is NOTHING there. The LaQuinta converted part of an old building to rooms and the rest may been cute shops etc but they are gone. Its now a restored building with a marketing agency and a martial arts studio and the only other car in the lot looked like someone doing some office cleaning. This will now be brought up by my family for years to come since I suggested we check it out. If this location on the map is supposed to direct you to restaurants and shops, its not working. Dennys and Jack in the Box are not unique dining options. And thats all we saw.

While still a historical site, due to the recent road construction and some remodeling there are more newer locations and let history. The post office was closed and merged with the newer larger down the street, older shops unable to maintain business and rent cost have unfortunately mitigated its allure. There are still some places holding on and I world still recommend swinging by, the knowlwoods had been there forever and alone makes the trip worth the drive.
