I played here today for the first time in 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. The new team in place has created a very welcoming atmosphere in the clubhouse and course conditions are quickly improving. Try this one again if you havent played here this year!

Pat Filanowski,I am sorry you played prior to $400,000 bunker renovation project on The Pioneer and Willows. We neglected the bunkers prior to the start of the renovation this spring as we knew they were going to be completely overhauled (not an indication of our maintenance staffs work ethic). I would invite you to return and play as the project is nearly complete and the new bunkers look fantastic. We are just waiting on the last of the sod to net in and new bunker sand to form. Please see a few pics below.

I love playing Kenton County golf courses. The course is in really good shape, however, I have a problem with letting non-golfers ride around the golf course with their boyfriends/spouses. What could’ve been a very enjoyable day ended up being one of the longest rounds of golf I’ve ever played in my life.It also doesn’t help that two golfers share one bag of clubs. Now I know why people join country clubs

This course has a lot of potential, I played the front 9 of Willows and then the back 9 of Pioneer today for the first time. The staff and starters/ranges were very nice in my interactions with them. The fairways were in pretty good shape and the course layout was both challenging and fun.I took three stars off because many of the greens on the Willows had bumpy, dead areas. Tee boxes on both the Willows and Pioneer were mediocre at best (some had uneven lies). The major disappointment were the bunkers: the absolute worst I ever saw on any golf course! I attached a picture, which shows the green side bunker on Pioneer #16. Literally every bunker on Willows and Pioneer had grass growing out of them, were hard as clay, and none of them were maintained at all. In addition, none of the bunkers on the Willows front 9 had rakes lying near them? I guess the staff gave up on them and they wanted players to as well...For the staff who maintain the golf courses at Kenton County: why even have bunkers on the course if you do not maintain them? Fill them in and just have grass in their place. Its embarrassing to operate a golf course with EVERY bunker in terrible condition. It speaks to your work ethic and care of the course, quite frankly. No effort was put into any bunker, please see the attached picture.I really do see potential in this course, though. A little effort in certain areas (the greens and bunkers) can go a long way! I do not know if I would recommend playing here this year, but would like to try it in the future to see if any improvements are made.

I played Fox Run the other day and it was phenomenal. The fairways were great, the greens were awesome, and the staff is fantastic. I would recommend 10 out of 10. I will definitely be going back very soon. The Willows are off the the charts. The course looks spectacular, and the greens were fast and firm. Best I’ve seen in the area. I loved it. Was my favorite course to play of the three at Kenton county.Pioneer is a great looking, fun course as well. The new bunkers are off the charts. They are the best i have played, very soft, and well kept. Very enjoyable every round.I was more than satisfied with my entire experience. I play here a lot and i will definitely continue to. I would suggest Kenton county to anyone looking for a great, memorable time on and off the course.

Barely and sometimes no water on the course. The drink cart never is available . The sand traps and green are less than par. The cart paths are an accident waiting to happen. The cost is much higher than other courses that are in much better shape. They used to bea better facility but it has gotten run down . The snack bar staff is the best thing about the course.

You charge 44 dollars on the weekend which isnt a bad price, if your course is in good shape. Played willows and honestly, if youre going to charge that much for a round of golf, the course better be well maintained, sandtraps playable, and rangers out on the course to keep the pace of play faster. Not impressed at all.

Ive been playing at kenton county for over 25 years. Ive NEVER seen it in this bad of shape. All 3 courses are terrible. Why bother putting several thousand dollars in a parking lot That had nothing wrong with it when the course conditions stink? Evidently...the county wants it to close for good. Thats whats going to happen if conditions remain the same. Im not paying to play there. The county still OWNS the course but have a tree trimming company running it? Why? Its painfully obvious that they dont know a bean one about green keeping. Nearly all the greens are bad. Rough is ridiculous. This place will be a thing of the past soon, when revenue becomes non-existent. I see the county selling out to a home developer ,when no ones willing to play there. Come on Kenton county government officials...come to your senses. Before its too late

Not well maintained, the fairways are smaller than they used to be. Its also very possible to lose a golf ball on every hole with how tall the rough is. Stay out of the bunkers because they play like concrete at times. The last time i played this course the green on #10 pioneer was brown, because why would you water the greens, and in terrible condition. The best thing about this place is, going home.

Wow, a new million dollar parking lot but they forgot to invest in maintenance on the golf course. The cart paths on the Willows are horrible, the mowers must all be broken because there was no sign that any have been used this week. Well okay they did have five inches of rain in the last two weeks but the course has significant elevation change, an experienced maintenance crew would have mowed the high ground. The fairways are overgrown with weeds, the tee boxes need to be reseeded, the bunkers power raked, and the greens are diseased. Who is in charge? The wonderful golfers of Kenton County should be angry. Oh did I mention the GOLF COURSE has a beautiful new parking lot and the food and clubhouse are great.

Uncle and I played the Pioneer course at Kenton County today in preparation for a family outing in three days. I hadnt played the Pioneer course in many years and normally play either the Willows or Fox Run which Id most always give a 4-5 star rating. The pioneer Im giving a 2 star because of shape the course was in. There is a flyer in the clubhouse explaining that there is a problem with the sprinkler system and apologizing for any inconveniences. Thats all well and good, but there are 2 greens that were totally unplayable and several that had a lot of damage. That fairways were just ok at best. I thought at first that the $23. greens fee with cart was a great price, but after playing the Pioneer course I thought the price was too much for the condition of the course in general. Ill play it again this Saturday only because of our family outing, but will never play the course again. I will, on the other hand, return to play the Willows which is my favorite of the 3 courses at Kenton County.

Posted the same review to Facebook but wanted to make sure those that do not use Facebook are aware.Disappointing is all I can say about the condition of the courses this year. I have played at all three courses for a number of years and it is sad to see how bad the courses look. It starts with the condition of the practice green and continues to the courses. I played the back 9 of the Pioneer tonight and the greens on 10 and 11 are completely burnt out, hardly any green grass at all. They spent money to renovate the clubhouse and the parking lot but can’t seem to figure out the money needs to go to the maintenance of the courses. Heading into the summer I’m not sure if there is any way to save the courses. Maybe next year.

Willows and pioneer are in terrible shape. Hornets nest sitting on one green that had obviously been there for days. Club House blatantly called us liars.Zero chance this course is worth $44. Definitely needs a change of management.

Took 40% of the fairways away, and the rough is 5-6 high. Takes 3-5 min to find any ball off of the fairway. Took 3.5 hours to play 9 on back of Pioneer because youre looking for a golf ball or two on every hole.
