A difficult but fun layout. However, the course is in rough shape. Several tee boxes dont have grass and a few spots on some greens are unplayable. Could be a fantastic course if the conditions were better

I’ll upgrade to 2 stars thanks to the friendly gentleman in the pro shop. We held our annual outing here this week after calling and being told the course looked “good, really good.” That couldn’t have been more inaccurate. The course, though I know they are trying to restore it to its previous beauty, is very rough. Fairways are long, greens very beat up, and half the tee boxes were more dirt than grass (many underwater). Don’t ask about the bunkers. I hate to leave this review but we were so disappointed spending $55 and driving an hour based on an untrue evaluation of conditions.

This place could be amazing but right now it is horrible. Not a chance I will go back. $45 - $55 and its not worth half that. Greens are tore up with fungus. Bunkers are more grass than sand. Tee boxes are nothing more than weeds. I feel like we were robbed. If youre wanting a great golf outing go anywhere else.

Bring your A game and extra balls. As previous reviews have stated a lot of blind shots. Some holes have more than one blind shot if you dont get off the tee well. A very challenging course especially for the ladies. You need to be pretty precise with your shots. Many fairway bunkers and guarded greens. The greens are big and in great shape, pin placement is critical as there are some areas that would be impossible to putt to. The club house is simply a modular but nice and bright, new and clean. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. This course could really benefit from GPS, we couldnt find it on our hand held, I dont think its been mapped yet. It has a nice practice area and free range balls. It was wide open when we were there but could be even more tough if busy and waiting on shots or to make sure it was clear to hit, another reason why they need GPS. The rates are very reasonable and I would recommend this course to anyone that wants a challenge. It will be beautiful when it greens up!

Great course. We hold a tournament there every year. Very challenging. I would change a couple of holes that, in my opinion, would not need USGA rules due to the blind shots required.

Faldo designed this course and it is tough. We were told the area development failed and that is sad because the course is a bit of an adventure. The clubhouse is a mobile home. The road to it is gravel. The pro had some soft drinks, water and a few sandwiches in a cooler. The carts are gas powered ClubCarts. The tee boxes had just been re-seeded so we basically teed-off off of mud and dirt. The fairways are lined with tall thick prairies grass so you stand no chance of finding an errant ball. There are many traps in the middle of fairways that sometimes have significant ascents and descents. All told, this is an inexpensive way to play a greatly designed course.

This place used to be great. So much so that I took my uncle for a round when he came in from Michigan. The only thing good anymore is the fairways. The greens weren’t properly dressed after being punched, so putting was horrible. Not to mention the poor condition of them. The bunkers are overgrown with vegetation and fairly empty of sand. Tee boxes are in poor condition also. Overall, it seems a lack of effort will probably result in a closure again I have a feeling. Won’t be back anytime soon I fear... better off playing at halstead.

Great course! But if you cant hit the ball at least 150 yards in the air on your tee shot its going to be a long day for you, as every hole has tall native grass that extends from the tee box to the fairway. The fairways and greens are almost perfect. The ball sits up nicely in the fairway and the greens are the smoothest fastest greens Ive ever played, absolutely loved it!

Greens were in horrible condition and the tee boxes are dead for the most part. Fairways were decent but not what they used to be. Its a great course, just a shame to see it going down hill.

What an amazing golf course. The layout is absolutely incredible and the price is extremely reasonable. One of the nicest courses Ive ever played anywhere in the country. Very challenging, but worth every lost ball. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

What a treasure! This course feels like a combination of Flint Hills National and Prairie Dunes and frankly I would rather play Cottonwood Hills for a number of reasons. 1.) I think the scenery is better! They left the natural habitat and it feels like they just placed the fairways and greens and left everything else untouched. 2.) The staff and golf pros are very helpful and make you feel appreciated 3.) currently (cant last forever) the cost is probably the best value in the state for what you get in return! If you are considering some golf, want to play something that is different and better than any public around then give it a try! Its like being a member of a top tier club without all the costs! So glad they are open and feel privileged to be able to play it!

This track is a gem. I’m originally from the Emerald Isle, and oh boy, what a treat it is to find such a true links style course in the state of Kansas. If this course was here back in the day, Tom Watson would never have had to go to Ballybunion to prepare for the Open. The course is tremendous, loaded with dunes, blind shots; bunkers (not pot – but that would be a devilish idea to put in a couple) and all the other characteristics we love about links golf. The tee boxes are never backed up, so that makes the trip worthwhile in of itself. The cost - very reasonable. Staff - very friendly and professional. Nice bar. I met the owner once – a true gentleman right from the heartland.
